Ornata D is the fourth of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch, trying in this one to keep the rough "letterpress" character. These ornaments have been first designed by Auriol around 1910. Eckhardt Poster Brush JNL is part of a series of fonts emulating many of the various styles of hand lettering employed by sign painters and show card writers. The series is named in honor of the late Albert Eckhardt, Jr. - a talented sign writer and a good friend of the font's designer, Jeff Levine. Eckhardt Poster Italic JNL is an angled treatment of the font.

Squeezed is the result of exploring mid 20th Century sans serif typefaces. As the name suggest, the typeface is indeed condensed which is also a solid part of its personal and friendly charactar. It was first designed to fit for custom book cover projects, but now released for the public. Squeezed is best suited for display solutions, but could sometimes work in minor sizes.

Linotype Konflikt is part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. Designer Stefan Pott was inspired by the conflict between the appearance of a typeface in print and on a computer screen. Out of this conflict came a font in which every character has aspects of both flowing handwriting and angular pixel-like strokes.

Anti Grotesk is a personal and internal fight. It tries to build elements capable of building personality, message, and introspection through their own shapes. Zenon is a compact text font in four weights. Zenon is a sum of different styles, from Francesco Griffo to Granjon, from modern typefaces to the first sketches of Times New Roman. Zenon is an apparently Renaissance revival with modernish proportions. A closer look reveals that it is a typographic potpourri. Zenon was design as part of the MATD program at the University of Reading.

Merganser is a Typeface intended for text and copy and was inspired to serve the avid community of Birders. Birders and birding material historically have a lot to say. Merganser serves that tendency because its designed legible at small scales. The Natural world also inspires the slightly humanist strokes of Merganser. Merganser was created as part of the Type@Cooper winter certificate in Type Design.

Linotype Supatropic is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. This fun font from German designer Isabell Laxa is generously decorated with delicate flower silhouettes which are reminiscent of Asian flower chains and subtropical flora. Linotype Supatropic is meant exclusively for headlines in point sizes of 18 or larger.

Franklin Gothic Hand Demi Shadow is another one in my series of hand-drawn fonts from way back in time – before computers changed the way we worked in advertising. This one was especially used for what we called "pork-belly-ads": ads for food-stores! I think it is very useful for all kinds of advertising that demands a lot of bang! The sheet music for the title song of the 1960 movie "Exodus" had the name hand lettered in a block stencil style with rounded corners and narrow "rails" [the breaks between the stencil parts]. Loosely based on this design and working from just the six letters of the title, Cartage Stencil JNL is available as a digital font in both regular and oblique versions.

Cassandra has two kinds of letters, wide Capitals on the (shift) capitals and narrow ones on the (no shift) lowercase. You can match them as you like. Take one narrow S and a wide one or two wide ones, whatever turns you on. It will almost always look good. Cassandra is my "bow" to Adolphe Mouron Cassandre. Spur Wide JNL was modeled from an example of hand lettering from the antique French alphabet book L'Art du Tracé Rationnel de la Lettre. Heavy Roman style letters with spurs (often referred to as Latin) were most popular with sign painters and show card writers in the early part of the 20th century. Spur Wide JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Infantry SRF was originally a freeware dingbat font from Jeff Levine from 1999 featuring twenty-six cute baby expressions. Jeff has cleaned up the images, improved the font file and has now made it part of the Stella Roberts Fonts collection. The net profits from my font sales help defer medical expenses for my siblings, who both suffer with Cystic Fibrosis and diabetes. Thank you.

Terzo uses three lines in the main stem of the capitals resulting in an interesting display of script capitals. Flourishes are uniquely positioned and are deliberately minimalist in order to feature the three part stem capitals. Lowercase characters are also strong enough not to be dominated by the capitals. The overall result is a well balanced and refreshing script that will serve many purposes!

Fire up the incense and break out the love beads! A 1968 poster for a Doors concert by legendary artist Gary Grimshaw provided the inspiration for this wild, far-out and funky romp through the alphabet. Use it liberally to add a little trippy hippie charm to your next project. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Matita Geometric is part of a larger type family developed from 2005-2019 with handwriting and teaching in mind. A humanistic geometric sans serif in five weights containing mathematical symbols, roman numerals, fractions, superior-& inferior numerals, tabular & proportional figures. The family share proportions and weights to ensure all fonts (family members) work together well. Matita Geometric is also a very basic typeface suitable for many purposes.

Squalo, the genesis The idea of this project called Squalo popped into my mind while I was working with excitement on some sketches. I was chasing after a strong typographical character, something that for me has to be crystallized in form which is always legible and functional. The concept The concept of Squalo arises from the observation of an athlete’s body: you notice that even if most are lean, they are also strong, cut and chiselled. The sport they play molds and modify their bodies.  Just think, for instance, on a professional swimmer: during the competition every single muscle, tendon, tissue, cell is working to swim faster. Every single part is there to give strength and speed like in a “squalo” (shark in italian). Not as an eel, nor as a mermaid, nor as a hake. Just like a shark. If you take a quick look, you will notice that the width of the typeface is slightly more condensed than that of a standard sans serif. We designed Squalo this way specifically to assist and strengthen your concepts through stylized typography. We designed the joins and terminals (tip ends) of the characters A, V, W, Z, v, w, z, to create a feeling of “tension”, reinforcing the concept of shark, danger, caution, as well explicit, intentional movement. Pure strength. We wanted to recall the exact moment of the start of the 100 meters race: when the sprinter initially spreads all of his powerful energy. The italic version, starting with the former two typographical concepts of width and tension, emphasizes them. First of all, we compressed the characters 10 percent more, and slanted it 10 degrees to the right. With this movement I intended to convey the gorgeous feeling of tension in power and rapidity. The typeface has 9 weights, from “hair” to “black”, and two versions, “regular” and “italic”.  All 18 fonts include small caps, unicase, tabular and oldstyle numbers, numerators and denominators, and much more. At first glance, Quigley might look like any ordinary font. Take a closer look. Quigley is reminiscent of an art deco font with a "twist", having unusual and amusing character shapes. Ideal for signage and as display type, but works nicely for body text as well.

A beautiful and stylish pen lettered alphabet appears within the pages of the 1921 publication “How to Write Show Cards” and its Art Nouveau stylings made it a perfect candidate for a digital revival. Pleasant Show Card JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A piece of vintage sheet music with the hand lettered title "Solitude" is the namesake and inspiration for Solitude JNL. Purely Art Deco in its typographic curves and angles of the period, this typeface typifies the "Streamline" style that permeated designs of the 30s and 40s.

A 1940s travel poster for the Florida East Coast Railway (which then carried passengers but is now a freight line) had the railroad’s name hand lettered in a bold Art Deco sans. This inspired Passenger Train JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A Swiss travel poster from 1927 offered the pattern for this idiosyncratic Art Deco face. Use it and add a little personality and charm to your next project. Both versions of this font support the Latin 1262, Central European 1250, Turkish 1254 and Baltic 1257 codepages.
