Museo... it all started with my love for the letter ‘U’. This uppercase letter just came to me as an image in a daydream. The top of both stems bent into semi-slab serifs. From this principle I worked out the rest of the uppercase letters. My first intention was to make it an all-caps display font, but after a while, I changed my mind. I wanted it to be a bit more versatile, so I decided to add lowercase and adjust spacing and kerning to increase legibility. This OpenType font family comes in five weights, and each weight comes with support for CE languages, even Esperanto. Besides ligatures, contextual alternatives, stylistic alternates, fractions and proportional/tabular figures, Museo has a ‘case’ feature for case-sensitive forms.

Sirba, a serif typeface family with a friendly personality, was conceived especially for the demands in complex text environments like dictionaries, academic texts, annual reports, novels and magazines. It has many design features that were particularly designed with Sirba’s purpose in mind. Because of its open counters, the large x-height and its short ascenders and descenders, this typeface conveys a pleasant reading experience and high legibility even in small sizes. Sirba is a low-contrast typeface, contemporary but with a classical touch, revealing its beauty in design details, such as the asymmetrical bottom serifs, curved bracketing and calligraphically reminiscent terminals. That experience left a mark on me that over the years mixed up with my practice as a type designer. “Caligrafía Inglesa” is, basically, the spanish translation for the copperplate calligraphic style. This was the initial idea that led the spirit of the project, but from the beginning it started to develop a typographic personality of its own. The new Inglesa font comes in 6 weights –from a skinny monolinear to an elegant black– with a companion set of roman caps. The harmony in both styles transmits as a result, a strong english spirit but with a fresh latin spice, assuring the perfect combination for any elegant design. Biotic is a dual-personality 18 style typeface which features two distinct design approaches that can be initiated with the flick of a switch. The natural design approach uses conventional forms for a geometric sans but when you switch to the engineered approach some key glyphs become squared to create an edgy approach in an instant. The characters that change are f, i, j, k, l, t and y, along with all punctuation and accents which switch to the square approach. Drop Cap One is a drop cap or an initial cap font. Even though it has all the letters of the alphabet it is not an alphabet font to be used for headlines or body copy. It has no kerning or punctuation except a period. It does not have accent marks. There are basically 2 alphabets in this font. The lighter letters are lower case and the darker letters are upper case. The light and dark letters are interchangeable. While a fun desktop font the real inspiration for this font was my need for a webfont for initial caps for blogging. It could also make a great scrapbooking font too.
