A colorful floral book that I found at a flea market inspired me to make the font Herbarium. What started as floral letter illustrations in 2009 has now developed into a writable font. My main intention was to make each letter like a little artwork so that they all could fit as a drop cap. Herbarium is also a good choice for headlines.

Zapf Chancery font is a work of German designer Hermann Zapf. It was named after a typeface used in Anglo-Saxon lands during the Renaissance as well as inspired by such scripts. This font makes it possible to give printed items an individual character. The handwriting of the designer can be seen in the forms of this classic, elegant font.

We have created this font as a complement for the 825 Karolus. It is a set of decorated letters in the style of those used by the scribes during the early medieval era. It is inspired from a manuscript copy of "The Hobbit" (in Caroline style) that we obtained in the year 2000 as a present for our daughter’s 15th birthday.

Prestige Elite is a word processor face which offers clear and monospaced type. The slanted versions have kept the same design as the roman font. The word Elite denoted a specific size of typewriter face. The Prestige Elite font family is easy to read, even in small sizes and is useful for tabular material with narrow columns, such as directories and lists.

I have always enjoyed this typeface and have had fond memories from the time I originally drew its predecessor, Kari. Now with almost 100 new ligatures, alternate and swash characters, Kari Pro has a great deal more personality and versatility. Subsets from the original Kari have been integrated into each unified weight adding both lining and hanging (oldstyle) numerals as options as well.

Linotype Aperto is a typical text font in the style of transitional faces, like its often-used cousin Times. It is available in roman, semibold and bold weights, each with its matching italic. Here’s a warm, casual text font based on an early twentieth century work by lettering artist Elizabeth Colwell, released by American Type Founders in 1923. For this update, all four fonts have been completely redrawn, and many new characters have been added. Both versions of this font contain the complete Latin A Extended character set, as well as extended ligatures and fractions.

In the March 16, 1936 edition of “The Film Daily” (a trade publication for the film industry) the magazine ran an ad for its Year Book. The ad was set in a slab serif typeface similar to popular designs such as Karnak, Stymie, Beton and the like. Redrawn digitally as Trade Paper JNL, it is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Friedrich Neugebauer is known for the cutting power of his calligraphic invention. As a prisoner of war in Egypt, he wrote with toothpaste when all else failed. The irrepressible style of this Austrian artist inspired Richard Lipton to capture his calligraphy as a typeface. Avalon plays sweeping freedom in the capitals against the vital discipline of a lowercase relieved by alternative ascending characters.

Trump Mediaeval is an Old Face font developed by Georg Trump between 1954 and 1962. All cuts have both normal and old style numbers and their robust characters make them suitable even for inferior paper. Light and legible, the open forms of the lower case letters allow this font to be legible in text with as small a point size as 5.

Onion Mill is based on my own handwriting, when I want to mimic the classic letters from comics. Samuel Welo’s “Studio Handbook for Artists and Advertisers” (published in both 1927 and 1960) showcased this talented man’s hand-lettered alphabets; used as inspiration for the sign trade and for graphic designers. A particularly interesting slab serif from the 1960 edition has many unusual character shapes, and served as the model for Casual Slab Serif JNL – available in both regular and oblique versions.

Baltasar is a handwritten, brush script with ligatures and contextual alternates to help with flow and readability. Every lowercase letter has three variations. When the font is used in OpenType-savvy applications, the 3 variants of glyphs are automatically alternated to achieve a random-like effect. The Flounder is a simple and clean condensed all-caps sans serif font. It is a close relative of the Floz, but has rounded edges and a wider range of glyphs. Furthermore it is equipped with a bunch of ligatures, as well as alternates for the letters j, w, q and z. It comes in three weights with their respective italics.

I designed “Mirror Font” with the idea that it could function as standard font but it also can function as a creative tool to create interesting letter form logos and titles.
