The 1957 French publication “La Letra Dans La Peinture et la Publicite” (“The Letter tn the Painting and Advertising”) had an illustration of split-serif letters and numbers with a decidedly Western feel. This is now available as Horse Thief JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

The inspiration for Fence Post JNL comes out of an early 1900s manual for sign writing. A number of changes were made to make the design more aesthetically pleasing, but it retains its novelty effect of evoking the look of wooden fence posts or Western-themed typography.

Here's a good old Victorian job printing font. Faithful to the original issued by Barnhart Bros. & Spindler about 1880. Nothing wildly decorative about it, yet it clearly looks old.

Ark is a combination monogram set based on the ATF Virkotype design. By combining variously shaped characters, you can produce initials within an oval frame. Just select a left-hand letter, a center letter, and a right-hand letter. Then place all three on an oval frame of your choice. Great for stationery and company logos. The Ark Monogram Set comes with easy-to-read instructions and a useful character map. Additional alternate characters have been provided for better identification and letter fitting within each font. The common Slavic word Osnova means basis in English. This universal but still distinctive typeface can make a good foundation for any design project. Oak Ridge JNL gives a Westernized treatment to Flivver JNL; which in turn is a serif derivative of Two Reeler JNL. Although all three fonts come from the same root source—inter-title cards from an old Charlie Chaplin movie, they each take on a personality of their own.

'Lenbach' is a revival which was inspired by a late-19th century German font design. It comes with both Western and Central European characters, as well as Baltic, Romanian and Turkish characters. Red Dog Saloon is an old classic western looking type font and one that never goes out of style. A fill font is included with this font, you will need an application that works in layers in order to use the fill fonts that come with FontMesa fonts.

What started as an image of a single vintage brass stencil of the letter 'P' spotted in an online auction has turned into Blacksmith JNL. From that single letter Jeff Levine has created a complete Western stencil font, retaining the hand-made look of the original stencil piece.
