The main source of inspiration for this project was Herb Lubalin's Serif Gothic font. This and other fonts of similar style provided the basis for developing a unique display typeface with a strong personality yet neutral enough to be used in a variety of applications. Giambattista Bodoni was an Italian engraver, printer, and publisher who was one of the best typographers of the 18th century and became known worldwide for his iconic serif typeface. Flefixx is a typeface designed to support a project "Flefixx", an idiosyncratic visual language and typeface system that unfolds narratives based on common combinations of letters. In this visual language, just as individual letters come together like puzzle pieces to form different meanings or words based on combinations, the typeface is also constructed from fragmentary elements, each playing a distinct role as if they are individual pieces. The intentional exposure of the intersections of these fragments emphasizes the typeface's creation through interconnected elements. Furthermore, diacritics and dots are strategically positioned as ornaments, enhancing their presence within the gaps between letters. This concept aligns with the theme of composition and connectivity among fragments, allowing strong rhythmic patterns to emerge as letters and symbols blend in a paragraph. Additionally, the prominent and bold punctuation marks serve to provide pauses and clarity within sentences that incorporate both letters and the visual language. They contribute to articulating sentence structure amidst the dynamic flow of sentences with combined characters and visuals.

Basic Commercial is a family of fonts based on historical designs from the hot metal type era. First appearing around 1900, these designs were created by type designers whose names have not been recorded, but whose skills cannot be overlooked. These typefaces were popular among groups and movements as diverse as the Bauhaus, Dadaism, and the masters of Swiss/International-Style typography. Genesis is a digitization and expansion of a Frank Riley metal typeface called Grayda, originally published to much applause by ATF in 1939. OmegaPixel Font Description I created this font for the game Hyper Ninja Blast (but made it useful to all kinds of games!). While creating the game, I searched for pixel fonts, but could not find a suitable one. The fonts were generally ugly and lacking the basic variations (italic and bold). So I decided to create my own pixel font. Just as pixel art can be better than a high-resolution painting, so pixel fonts don’t need to be always worse than traditional fonts. In OmegaPixel I tried to achieve elegance, readability and flexibility within the limitations of a 6 pixel x-height. With 4 versions (regular, italic, bold and bold italic), and a neutral feel, OmegaPixel can be used in any genre of games. Considering the general lack of money among indie game devs, I’m giving the regular version for free! For inspiration, I often remebered Minion’s lowercase ‘a’, Galliard italic lowercase ‘g’, and the calligraphy of Chinese emperor Huizong.

The astype series Accolades A offers the designer a fine balanced set of calligraphic swashes, swirls and floral ornaments. The shapes are in systematic order and harmonize in contrast and detail. The shapes can be combined easily and the advanced designer can build hundreds of sophisticated compositions. Accolades A and A2 share the same base set of ornaments but differ in some of the major shapes. Despite these differences, the total width of the shapes will be always the same. If you are looking for some good companion fonts, give Gracia and Adana a try. Every classic high contrast stroke design like Didot or Bodoni works well. Note: To look perfect, adjust the size of the ornament font to fit in contrast the design of the companion font. So if you use a Bodoni font as companion, try to match the thickness of the thinnest part of a upper case Bodoni letter with the thinnest part of a shape from the ornament. The first versions of Nimbus Sans have been designed and digitized in the 1980s for the URW SIGNUS sign-making system. Highest precision of all characters (1/100 mm accuracy) as well as spacing and kerning were required because the fonts should be cut in any size in vinyl or other material used for sign-making. During this period three size ranges were created for text (T), the display (D) and poster (P) for small, medium and very large font sizes. In addition, we produced a so-called L-version that was compatible to Adobe’s PostScript version of Helvetica. Nimbus was also the product name of a URW-proprietary renderer for high quality and fast rasterization of outline fonts, a software provided to the developers of PostScript clone RIPs (Hyphen, Harlequin, etc.) back then. Also in the 80s, a new, improved version of the Nimbus Sans, namely Nimbus Sans Novus was designed. Nimbus Sans Novus was conceptually developed entirely with URW’s IKARUS system, i.e. all styles harmonize perfectly with each other in terms of line width, weight, proportions, etc. On top of that, Nimbus Sans Novus contains more styles than Nimbus Sans.
