At first glance, Transcendental JNL looks like a 1960s or 1970s-era "Hippie" type face, hence its "love generation" name. However, the actual inspiration comes from a piece of sheet music from the early 1900s with Art Nouveau influences. It is often proven that what goes around certainly does come around in art, fashion and lettering. Transcendental JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The idea for this font family, derived from SMS text message faces (Emojis) and found photographs of faces collected over the last ten years. The concept for this project was to a create text-face characters using only the glyphes found in a standard version of a Sans Serif typeface. There are 36 different Textfaces. A 1940s film taken around Coney Island happened to show a sandwich vendor’s stand with its hand painted signs. The stylized Art Deco lettering inspired Snack Stand JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The theater was renovated and restored in 1987 and its marquee replicated the original one. What’s interesting is that the signage actually resembles squared pen lettering with rounded corners.

Dottie is based on a matrix of dots. It was inspired by the output of old, cheap, dot-matrix printers. An assortment of antique, hand-punched brass stencils from Australia [used for crate marking and shipping] served at the models for Aussie Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The lettering of the original stencil punches had rounded edges to the characters; looking more machine rendered than hand punched into the brass sheets.

I can best describe the Thaun family as a general purpose display family, inspired by Scholtz Fonts' " "Delikat". I wanted to produce a display font that was more robust than Delikat, without losing the delicacy of the original. In order to do this I thinned solid, curved strokes toward the baseline, and let them dwindle to gently rounded points. As a graphic designer I became aware that designs that used a number of styles from the same family seemed to work well. This was easily done using a standard sans serif font such as Arial or Helvetica. However, when a different look is needed, display fonts do not always have a the variety of different styles that are necessary to produce a coherent design. Thus with Thaun, the challenge was to create a coherent family based on a display font. The archetype of this family is Thaun Regular with six different widths forming closely related styles. There are also two variants of the archetype i.e. Thaun Black & Thaun Rough to add variety to the primary style. An additional sub-family, Thaun Accord, appears in two widths. Thaun Jazz is a wide three dimensional variation. Thaun has all the features usually included in a fully professional font. Language support includes all European character sets, Greek symbols and all punctuation. Opentype features include automatic replacement of some characters and discretionary replacement of stylistic alternatives.

Pseudographia is a lighthearted, loving pastiche of “Greek-Style” type inspired by J.M. Bergling’s 1917 “Society Greek” lettering. Happily living in the world of kitschy cross-cultural fonts of the kind found on restaurant awnings around the US, Pseudos is blithely unconcerned with legibility. Instead, it embraces its own benign exoticism and revels in its own chicanery! Pseudographia’s standard letterforms are angular Roman forms. Tarocco is a typical book face with good readability and rather tall x-height. The origin for this typeface is found in Nordisk Antikva. A typeface especially constructed with attention for the Swedish language. Waldemar Zachrisson was determined to realize his ideas and in 1906 he began to cooperate with the foundry Genzsch & Heyse, based in Hamburg. Some influences of Jugendt can be found and the typeface were released in 1910. It became rather popular until around 1930. The MRF version includes 7 weights all together.

Baldufa is a charming typeface with strong personality, which looks very comfortable in text. There is a search to obtain complicated curves and detailed features, which give the typeface a touch of beauty and elegance. However, this is also a self-conscious design that claims appreciation for quirkiness and human imperfection through the rounded serifs and irregular vertical stems. The typeface family is also a multi script project, containing Latin and Arabic scripts. The Latin consists of Regular, Bold and Italic styles, including Small Caps and many other typographic features. Whereas Arabic Naskh includes Regular and Bold weights. The whole family has been designed to work harmoniously together to help to produce catalogues and small publications of cultural content. We believe that Baldufa is a tiny but nice contribution to build bridges between cultures and this make us very happy. The letterforms in the Latin are inspired by the slight distortions and idiosyncrasies that came with old printing methods. It has distinct, features such as rounded serifs, irregular vertical streams, ink traps and extremely thin junctions. In the Italic, serifs have been removed to enhance movement and expressivity. These experiments in form have not come at the cost of legibility: The typeface remains suitable for both small and display text. To certain extent, the design of the Arabic gathers the same interest for experimentation than its Latin companion. Baldufa Arabic respects the basic features of Arabic script such as thick stokes in the baseline, multiple vertical axis, genuine stem modulation and good linking between words. However, it steps away from traditional Calligraphic Style. It has rounded top terminals and the traditional contrast between curves and straight stokes has been softened. Letter shapes sometimes slightly differs from tradition in order to obtain more expressivity. Overall, Arabic has been designed to acquire the same elegant and quirky aspect of the Latin.
