As designers, we seek perfection and originality. The more we step back and look at our work, the more changes we tend to find necessary. Drastic modifications are inevitable. The same is true of Grayfel. Grayfel began as an exercise at insigne to explore the crowded space of neutral sans. While the world of sans serifs is admittedly crowded, I still managed to find something new and different. The final Grayfel consists of 42 full-featured OpenType fonts containing three widths: Regular, Condensed, and Extended. Every width consists of 14 fonts--seven weights with matching italics, making it a good companion for setting clear text and headlines for print and screen. OpenType features are also available. There’s figure choices, such as proportional and old style figures. Additionally, Greyfel includes sophisticated typographic attributes: ligatures, fractions, alternate characters, small caps, superscripts and subscripts. Its extended character set supports Central, Western and Eastern European languages. Optical compensations also mean the outcome of this family is a hybrid of humanistic proportions. It’s a well-finished design with optimized kerning gives it a friendly look. If you like sans serifs within the tradition of Futura, Helvetica, Avant Garde and Avenir, then you’ll love Greyfel, too. Colonial Press is a font based on serif typefaces designed by William Caslon I (1692-1766) and various revivals thereof. Caslon is cited to be the first original typeface of English origin, but some type historians point out the close similarity of Caslon's design to the Dutch Fell types, presumed to be the work of Dutch punchcutter Dirck Voskens. Colonial Press harkens to the look and feel of newspapers in Colonial North America around the mid 1700s without the rough edges commonly associated with colonial printing and many reconstructions. The rough quality of the American typeface is believed to be the result of oxidation from the exposure to seawater during the long voyage from England to the Americas. Colonial Press is a heavy font that retains some of the handcut quality of these fonts while smoothing out the irregularities that make many of these fonts so visually distracting at larger point sizes. For the italic version of this font, I chose to emulate the more ornate letterforms that I have encountered, giving the italic characters a more ornamental feel. Colonial Press comes with full punctuation and a 362 glyph character set for most Western European-based Latin alphabet languages. It is a font that is designed both for normal typing and for larger, decorative display.

A strong background in font production, hinting and font marketing were also part of his FontShop experience. Richter worked as freelance graphic and type designer until he founded übertype in 2017. He also invests back into the type community through the type design courses he teaches at his alma mater. FF Infra is Richter’s first commercial design for Monotype. Büro Destruct’s «BDR mono» typeface has a long tradition in the font library of typedifferent. Initially designed by Lopetz as a single weight, monospaced Mac PostScript Type 1 font way back in 1999, it got a first update as a little family with light, regular and bold weights, plus an extended glyphs set in Opentype format during 2006. With this 2021 update the typeface received a second rounded family and a complete glyphs set with all needed characters used in the north, east, south and west of Europe. The «BDR mono 2021» serves great in signage, routing people, architecture, technical plans, manuals, or even science and fiction related communications.

Authenia is a casually and quickly written brush script. Letters are made with brush pen on a paper. Then scanned and carefully drawn into vector format. There is just a right amount of texture left so it looks good in small and big sizes. These elements gives Authenia its organic, authentic and laid-back characteristics. Authenia has two sets of lower cases to give some variation and more natural look to your text. You can enable Contextual Alternates on OpenType panel to make these two sets vary randomly. It also has a bunch of stylistic alternates and underlines that makes your text and design even more appealing.

In the late 1990s Gerard Unger won the assignment to design the signage system for the Holy Year celebrations to be held in Rome in 2000. The system he developed in cooperation with the design agency n|p|k used a classically inspired serif typeface, but the earlier proposals included a sans-serif, which became Vesta (2001). Vesta is a versatile family that can be used as a display face alongside Unger's serif faces Gulliver, Capitolium or Coranto; it can also be used on its own, even in longer texts. Vesta is narrower and therefore more economical than some commonly used sans serifs such as Arial and Helvetica; there is also a noticeable contrast between thick and thin parts, which makes it more lively. Vesta is to be extended with narrow versions, small capitals and old style numerals, along with some special versions for headlines.
