Martin Wilke’s underrated yet influential deco classic from 1932 has both feet firmly planted in the high traditions of Western European calligraphy while carefully and subtly introducing some traits from the sweeping geometric/minimalist vision of the time. In a way, it was one of the representatives of the European anti-type typefaces of that era, when print media was searching for the elusive aesthetic balance between humanism and geometry. This typeface enjoyed some popularity in Germany for a few years, and went on to influence further type designs in Holland and Italy. After the second World War, the black hole that swallowed a big chunk of Europe’s print culture, new influences and technologies overtook the scene, and selective historical emphasis ensued, highlighting some of the era’s designs and overlooking others. Further selective picking in the digital era all but buried Wilke’s body of work - unfairly so, because he was just as important in German type history as Bernhard, Post, Schneidler, Tiemann and Trump. The original metal Wilke Kursiv came in one weight. This digital version goes a long way in expanding on that original offering. Now Wilke’s masterpiece comes in three weights, and with a full Pro treatment including swash caps, small capitals, five types of figures, automatic fractions, and plenty of other OpenType niceties. If there s a back-story about the design inspiration for Modern Appliances JNL, it's lost to time. An unfinished design for quite a while, this clean sans with an Art Deco flair was recently completed, and the design quality should speak more for its appeal than any promotional blurb.

The roots of Adana going back to the year 1930, to the Berlin-based German graphic designer Wilhelm Berg. His typeface can be interpreted as an answer to Lucian Bernhards Schönschrift. Adana Circular and Regular play well together in all kinds of adverts, as well with designs like Bodoni or Didot.

British Stencil JNL was sketched from images of a vintage stencil set made by Reese and Sons of England that was being sold on ebay. In truth, this is a semi-stencil, as some of the characters are solid; lacking the breaks in the letter shapes so typical of stencil alphabets.

Drawing inspiration from both the Western and Circus genres, this design offers a wide variety of uses as a display font. Due to the nature of this design there may be a very slight lack of smoothness to the curves at extremely large point sizes (around 200 pt and above).

Rocksolid's appearance is somewhere between a font resembling large, carved blocks of stone and a negative outline grunge font, and it is surprisingly responsive to simple effects in graphics programs. Mostly it is intended for titles, display and headlines. There's an extensive set of accented characters and punctuation. The zip contains both OTF and TTF versions - install either OTF or TTF, not both.

This elegant stencil face is based on an alphabet found in one of the innumerable Dover Books volumes edited by Dan X. Solo. Intended for headline use, it can also be employed effectively for short blocks of body copy. This font contains the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

The Occidental family is a geometric, sans-serif text face marked by its angular construction. Occidental is suitable and economical enough to set large blocks of copy, but at display sizes Occidental's inherent character takes over making it useful for headline setting as well. The family includes four weights, each with corresponding italics (excepting Display) for a total of seven fonts.
