The original design came from Berthold Herold typeface, designed by Hermann Hoffmann during 1913 (Art Nouveau style) in Germany. This project started from flyer printed during 1947 with movable type, the specimen was scanned as a source to development some of the uppercase letterforms. However the most unusual and tricky element from this sample is the leg from the uppercase (R) which is different from the original Herold design, until now I didn’t found where this version originally came from. This stencil typeface only contain the bold weight, but there are also available other versions without stencil cuts, like Nouveau LX and Nouveau LX Expanded.

Red Tape is three fonts that were designed by sticking letters together with red tape. It makes for a wonderful makeshift set of fonts. And I really enjoyed sticking those letters together. Of course I did it on screen using bits and pieces of scanned red tape. Just use it as you like, I won't give you any red tape in how to use the fonts. »Red Tape« is since February 2012 on permanent display in the »German National Library« – next to the likes of »Bodoni«, »Garamond« and »Helvetica« – being part of the exhibition about type through the ages. Crayon fonts are fantastic! I've always thought it looked so cool with fonts that simulate writing with crayons...but the fonts has always been limited in letters! But that’s where my Pigeon Wing font stands out! Using the smart techniques of the OpenType thing called “Stylistic alternates”, you get 8 different versions of each letter! Yes EIGHT different versions that cycle as you write! That means words with the same letter appearing several times, cycles through the different versions! She may not be the heaviest font on the street but Thickset can throw her weight around with the best of them. I was listening to the radio and a song caught my attention. It was ‘Demagogue’ by a band called the Urban Dance Squad. That song brought back memories from when I was a student, so I decided to name this font after it. Demagogue was made using a Sharpie pen and a piece of expensive paper. The result is a very legible, very neat and very bold font. Demagogue is ideal for when you want to get your message across, but hopefully not in a demagogue-ish way! ;-)

Not only do I care about my health, I also care for a good dessert! :) And this is where the lemon enters the the arena! I love the sweet and sour taste of the lemon - I love it in drinks (hot or cold) in ice creams, cakes, sweets ... you name it! I just had to name this font something with the word "lemon" in it, because I find it mouth watering! :)

Genki Desu is one of those Japanese expressions that are used a lot and don’t really mean what you think they mean. You can use it as a greeting: O Genki Desu Ka? (お元気ですか - how are you), or to say you’re feeling fine (元気です - Genki Desu). The word Genki also means ‘energy’ or ‘vigor’. I am not an expert, in fact, there’s so much Japanese I can actually speak (shame on me), but Genki Desu is one of my favourites. Maybe just because it sounds so nice!

The design of this display face is based on the hot metal typeface Acropolis, issued by the German type foundry Ludwig Wagner in Leipzig in 1940. To further increase its usefulness a Cyrillic was added to it: URW Akropolis, redrawn and digitally remastered by Coen Hofmann for the URW Font Forum, is a true display design that should not be set below 48 point if you want to preserve it's fine details like the open triangular sections, e.g. in L, G, S, T etc. and gain the full typographic splendidness of this beautiful typeface.
