George Ryan's ITC Migrate is a highly condensed sans serif display face that effectively complements ITC Adderville. Migrate represents what Ryan calls a “more highly evolved version” of a typeface he designed for Bitstream in 1991 called Oz Handicraft. “Both faces,“ says Ryan, “are based on designs of the popular early 20th-century type designer Oswald Cooper.” His inspiration came from drawing samples found in the Book of Oz Cooper, published in 1949 by the Society of Typographic Arts in Chicago. “Oz worked extensively with the sans serif form long before it became popular in the States, eschewing a popular belief of the time that sans serifs were only skeletons of letters.” Where Oz Handicraft was informal and quirky, ITC Migrate has a more restrained feel. “The uppercase characters and figures, in particular, have been reworked,” says Ryan, ”resulting in a more formal and traditional, compressed sans serif typeface.”

Axial Cut is a sans serif typeface (Latin Extended-A), a contemporary and rounded evolution of geometric fonts for screen, but this time the letters are built on an axial axis that results in trapezoidal counter-shapes, joints with reduced antlers and rounded corners that correct optical effects in small sizes to make the typography more legible, and at the same time, in large sizes it shows its original shapes. Undulated is another typeface family from IngrimayneType that explores the possibilities of alternating letters sets. Undulated is similar to the typeface Undulate. Both alternate two sets of characters to form a wavy line of text. This alternating is done automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature contextual alternatives (calt). However, the peaks and valleys of the wave are in the middle of the characters in Undulate while in Undulated the peaks and valleys are at the right and left edges of each character. The waves in Undulated seem more chaotic and less soothing than the waves in Undulate. Undulated has monospaced and monoline letters. The letter spacing is tight to accentuate the ripple pattern. The family includes an outline style that can be used in a layer above the regular style to add color. The unusual patterns that Undulated gives are eye-catching and may be useful for advertising or signage and in other places where one wants attention-grabbing lettering.

An image of an antique metal marking stencil [circa late 1890s or early 1900s] reading “Folck’s Roller Mills #196 New Surprise manufactured by Wolfe Brothers, Cumberland, MD” had the words “New Surprise” rendered in a Western/Victorian typeface. I always like to make a heart swash font and this is my 7th. Winterfalls is a high quality, smooth, simple script font which is easy to read and ideal for anything romantic and loving. Use it on cards and notes for baby announcements, wedding stationery, birthday and thank you cards but most of all, anything for your Valentine. Winterfalls includes left and right end swashes and connecting swashes on the lowercase letters, and a set of alternate uppercase letters with heart swashes. Mira is a playful, decorative Art Nouveau font, released by Roos & Jung Foundry in Offenbach AM, Germany about 1902. The exaggerated serifs and the sharp contrast between the thick and thin strokes gives the page a whimsical “salt and pepper” look that is very distinctive. Mira uses our new encoding. The Euro symbol has been moved to position 128 and the Zcaron/zcaron have been added at positions 142/158 respectively. Otherwise, MIRA has our usual idiosyncratic glyph selection, with the German ch/ck instead of braces, Western European accented letters, lower case “o” and “u” with Hungarian umlaut and our usual Hand-in-Hand symbol. Early 1900s songwriters had a penchant for devising lengthy titles for their compositions. A perfect example from 1909, "It Is Hard to Kiss Your Sweetheart When the Last Kiss Means 'Good Bye'" is a whopping fourteen words long. The sheet music for this piece has a hand lettered, Art Nouveau sans serif design which became the working model for La Vie Nouveau JNL [which translates to "the new life"], and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The Siseriff family of types contains nine different styles, which were developed by the master Swedish typographer Bo Berndal in 2002. Siseriff is a contemporary slab serif face. Except for the Siseriff Black weight, all of the letters display a slightly condensed appearance that is coupled with a relatively uniform width throughout the alphabet. Siseriff's nine styles are distributed across five weights (Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold and Black). The Italic companions for these styles (Siseriff Black does not have an italic companion) are true italics. These redrawn italics add a higher degree of differentiation from the Roman weights than could be achieved with obliques alone. Many common Slab Serif families (e.g., Serifa) do not offer this degree of differentiation. This variety makes Siseriff the perfect choice for journalistic and editorial work, where a good hierarchy may be achieved solely by relying on the various weights available, and their italics. All nine styles of the Siseriff family are part of the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

Rialto dF is a book face inspired by calligraphic tradition. Named after the famous bridge in Venice, it was conceived as a bridge between calligraphy and typography, roman and italic. It can also be thought of as an imaginary bridge between Italy and Austria, since it is the result of collaboration started in 1995 between the Austrian Lui Karner and Venetian Giovanni de Faccio. The letterforms of Rialto dF were drawn directly in digital format with a starting point deriving from humanistic letterforms memorized in the hearts, minds and the manual ability of its designers… As tradition demands, uppercase, numerals and punctuation are used in combination with italics – the same solution adopted by Francesco Griffo when he cut his first italic for the Virgil, the first of the octavo series printed and published in Venice by Aldus Manutius in 1501. Rialto dF comes in two optical weights: Piccolo, for up to 14 pt, and Grande for 16pt and above. Alternate characters and various dingbats are also provided and these are available through OpenType features developed by type designer and technician Karsten Luecke.

Distinctively Art Nouveau with a touch of Arts & Crafts, Quaint Gothic is a typographic gem from the late nineteenth century. Also known as Desdemona, this undulating and organic typeface is a versatile and refreshing alternative to many of the font designs on the market today. For many years license plates in Italy have been using a quite peculiar sans serif monospace typeface with slightly rounded corners and a geometric, condensed skeleton. These letterforms have been used by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini as an inspiration for Targa, published as the first-ever Zetafonts typeface in 2003. Almost twenty years later, Francesco Canovaro has brought the project under scrutiny for a complete redesign, keeping its inventions, solving its issues, and making it into a versatile multi-weight typeface. The original type family has been developed in two subfamilies: Targa Pro Mono (which keeps the original monospace widths) and Targa Pro Roman (with proportional widths), both in five weights plus italics.
