“Kindah” is a Yemeni ancient tribe with evidence of its existence going back to the second century B.C.E. The kings of Kindah exercised an influence over a number of associated tribes more by personal prestige than by coercive settled authority. They converted to Islam in the mid-7th century CE and played a crucial role during the Muslims' conquests of their surroundings.
