Nagel is a contemporary uniwidth display sans serif for headlines and short texts. It’s a closed low-contrast typeface with an emphasis on stroke joints. The length of the line set in Nagel remains the same in all weights. Nagel has all the advantages of monospaced typeface graphics, but none of their functional disadvantages. Characters in Nagel are made monospace-like wide, as opposed to traditionally narrow characters of proportional fonts, and often have slab serifs. Letters of monospaced fonts that have to be narrowed down considerably, have the usual width here. CoolKids was inspired by the song “Signs of Life” by Arcade Fire. Since the lyrics talk about some cool kids we wondered what a typeface with the name cool kids would look like. We immediately knew it had to be laid back yet bold and to stand out from the crowd. After designing the bold script we decided to include a light, regular and medium weight to offer you more options for your designs. It comes with initial and final alternates, that show up automatically, to make it feel more natural and similar to handwriting. Every character was carefully drawn and connections are real smooth. Enamela (rhymes with Pamela) is a monoline square sans that is available in normal width and condensed versions. Although rooted in the early years of sans serif type, the Enamela fonts have a timeless quality that is practical and unpretentious. The letterforms derive from vitreous enamel signage dating from the Victorian era and widely used in Britain for street nameplates, Post Office signs, the plates on James Ludlow wall postboxes, railway signs and direction signs, as well as for circular Automobile Association wayfinding plaques throughout the first half of the twentieth century. The quirky terminals, stemming from the compression of geometric type, invite comparison with the Charles Wright fonts used for UK vehicle registration plates. Enamela and Enamela Condensed are both available in three weights – regular, medium and bold – and as italics (optically corrected obliques). A commonly used alternative M with a vertex that touches the baseline is provided at the Alt-M (µ) keystroke on a Mac, or Alt-0181 on Windows. A commonly used G with a plain vertical throat, no crosspiece, is assigned Unicode FF27 (full width capital G).

Entendre is a stately, commanding and handsome sans serif typeface family that pulls reference from Trajan capitals, the history of English calligraphy, and a variety of other sources to summon a sense of warmth, consideration, trust and authority. Magendfret is a typeface that was designed very mechanically. However, it is also the optimal typeface for expressing soft warmth. Magendfret was designed by constructing a "line." That is: it is based on the concept "it is the combination of a straight line and a curve with a character." I made the character from the act of using and constructing a vector graphics editor, a mouse, and a keyboard. That, I thought when constructing it, should make neither a roman type nor italic type into a novel form, and a very general form. Once those characters were bit-map-ized, they traced again mechanically by the vector graphics editor. It became a soft impression by this work. The very mechanical act of changing the thickness of a line uniformly constitutes the family. The thickness of seven patterns was created first and, finally it results in four patterns. Respectively, styles called Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold are attached as usual. The name Magendfret is meaningless. It is an anagram of a certain words selected very arbitrarily.

Rubber B is a heavy display typeface with very tight open counters & character spacing and non-existent closed counters. It is an amalgam of styles and influences that demands attention. It is comparable with the highly geometric experimental fonts of the '90s and early '00s, but also heavily inspired by decorative fonts of the '60s and the psychedelic poster art of the '70s. Bold and loud, yet delicate, almost calligraphic in some cases. It works with Latin & Extended Latin, Cyrillic & Extended Cyrillic and Greek. It comes with 1,500+ glyphs, with more than half of them being ligatures. It also contains several Stylistic Alternates as well as Localised forms (available through the Open Type Features and also as ligatures). All these features are available in order to not only make sure that it works with as many languages as possible, but also that depending on the specific glyph or ligature one chooses to use, they have the ability to alter the emotional character of the word(s) they’re setting. Ideal for titles and logos, as it works best in medium and large sizes.

In the early 1980s, at the start of my career, I had the opportunity to work in a print shop with classic lead setting. In those days I would study issues of U&lc magazine from ITC. What really caught my attention were scripts in the Spencerian style. I’ve been fascinated by this American penmanship tradition ever since. A few years ago I developed a font. Boris Bencic used it when he was redesigning L’Officiel magazine in Paris. I took these initial forms and developed them into the font Mommie when I started my own foundry. Although I usually design text typefaces, working on Mommie taught me how complex it can be to create a script headline font. The biggest challenge in this process has been to keep it alive and fresh. The Regular weight is only made for very big headlines. The thin lines with the bold drops are very elegant. For smaller sizes use the Medium and Small weight. It won the TDC 2008 award and was Judges Choice of Christian Schwartz.
