Sidenty is a wild calligraphy script. The typeface was drawn and created by Lady Rose between 2020 and 2021. Its open shapes are inspired by mid-century advertising, is full of life and emits liberty and optimism. The handwritten family consists of two weights: It is completed with a full alternate alphabet and a big set of ligatures, which together give the handwriting genuine dynamics and a natural flow. This set of initial decorated letters was inspired by a font in use in the beginning of 1500s in Paris. Exactly, we have used the set that Barthélémy Verand employed for the printing of Triumphus translatez de langage Tuscan en François, (from “Triumph” of Petrarque) in the year 1514. Some letters, lacked, have been reconstructed to propose a complete alphabet. It appears that the printer used some letters to replace others, as V, turned over to make a A, or D to make a Q. The original font’s letters were drawn in white on a black background only, but it was tempting to propose a negative version in black on white. It is used as variously as web-site titles, posters and flyers design, publishing texts looking like ancient ones, or greeting cards, all various sorts of presentations, as a very decorative, elegant and luxurious additional font. This font supports strong enlargements remaining very smart and fine. It’s original medieval hight is about one inch equivalent to about four lines of characters. This font may be used with all blackletter fonts, but works particularly well with 1543 Humane Jenson, 1557 Italic and 1742 Civilite, without any anachronism.

Pisang Manis means ‘sweet banana’ in Bahasa Indonesia. I don’t think this particular combination is used in everyday life, but it sounds nice. Pisang Manis is based on an older font of mine, called Pisang, which I created in 2013. It looks similar, but it is a different font altogether. Pisang Manis is a ‘Tall & Thin’ display font, ideally used for product packaging, websites and book covers.

A recent walk down memory lane through old college sketchbooks revealed a collection of caricature fish doodles. Then the sketches were discovered by my son who, being a marine life enthusiast, promptly demanded that I draw more fish. Thus, a collection of 71 fish-inspired drawings and bubbly numbers was born. There is even a lemon, since no fish is really complete without one.

Fibra One looks like a “soft” version of the Fibra font, but it is actually more than that—the second part of its name suggests that it is a reinterpretation of the original typeface. While this new version maintains the overall structure of Fibra and influence of the Avant Garde font, its shapes are different from those found in its predecessor—Fibra One features both soft corners and smooth transition between curved and straight sections. Hyggemand is not a real word: it is a combination of Hygge (meaning ‘fun’ or ‘coziness’ in Danish) and Mand (which means man in Danish). Combined it means something like ‘Nice Man’. I just like the sound and look of this name, so if I offend Danish languages purists, then I apologise for this monstrosity! ;-) Hyggemand is a happy kids font that comes with extensive language support and a set of alternates for the lower case glyphs. If you want the cute Huggeman face, you will find it as a stylistic alternate for the asterisk.

The inspiration source for Zulu Monogram is a vintage publication called “Bibliotheque D.M.C: Alphabets et Monogrammes 2nd Series”. This wonderful design is an alternative to the diamond shape monogram that dominated monogram at the time. The extravagant Odin was designed by Bob Newman in 1972. Its figures display constructed basic forms and when set into words, the typeface builds closely set lines. The strong serifs catch the reader's eye and draws it horizontally across the page. The forms of the capital letters are particularly distinctive. In the upper third, the stroke beginnings seem to form a roof over the body of the letter, fragmented by a fine white line that lends them independence and dominance. Odin is best used for headlines in display point sizes.

Mayonaise is a bit of an ugly duckling. It is strange, open and messy, and might not be love at first sight. BUT, when you spend some time with Mayonaise and get to know her, you might actually fall in love. Just like that song I mentioned earlier. Go on then, give it a try!
