Warning: works with contextual alternate-feature, which is not showing here. Covergirl is a script typeface that works all by itself. It has a very high contrast, but works also in smaller sizes. It is a display typeface. Covergirl is based on handwriting. The basic shapes are transformed to a very high contrast strict form and the hairline runs through the words in an amusing lively way that simulates the writing by hand. Its scandinavian designed handwriting, decorated, but also very minimalistic. While writing the letters will be substituted by one of the variations of the letter, that will make sure that the letters connect well. When writing in only UPPERCASE a much more simple letter shape will substitute the default.

Ni is a kind of typographic love letter, revealed in three distinct, yet close, type formulas. Ni Serif is a contemporary serif typeface with slight diagonal modulation, amazingly legible, and with a very steady rhythm that allows a wonderful performance, especially in long passages of text. Ni Sans closely match the design characteristics and proportions of the serif counterpart. Speedy Space Goat Oddity is the font with really interesting mood. My purpose was to transfer freedom, immediacy, and a bit of insanity with it. Heer Halewijn (The Song of Lord Halewijn) is a 13th century Dutch folk tale which survives in folk ballad. The story tells of a man called Halewijn, who lives in the woods and who lures pretty women with his songs (whom he then kills). One day a princess visits Halewijn, but when he wants to kill her, she requests he remove his robe, so as not to stain it with her blood. He obliges and when he is undressing, the princess seizes his sword and chops off his head. Halewyn is a handmade font, which was loosely based on my Languedoc font and Garamond. Use it for product packaging, books and posters. Comes in 4 weights (with italics) and a ballad full of diacritics.

P22 Barabajagal is a unique take on the display fat face by way of doodling fun. Somewhat informed by the shapes of an early 1970s film type called Kap Antiqua Bold, this font’s aesthetic is the stuff of boundless energy and light humour, where an uncommon “peak” angle drawing perspective results in sturdy trunks, fat bottom curls, and active ascenders eager for mobility in space. This is the kind of font that makes you wonder whether it was drawn with rulers, protractors and compasses, or just by a mad doodler’s crazy-good free hand. The typeface was designed after seeing a photocopy of some News Gothic text where the ink had faded on the bottom of each character. As character recognition is generally based on the top half of a character, readability was never compromised. Rather like Antique Olive the characters have a top heavy look when viewed straight on, however, as most type is read at an angle with the top further away than the bottom this top heavy look is diminished.

Barmoor is a robust, classic roman display face, inspired by the letter designs of the Parisian craftsman Claude Garamond and other 16th century French engravers as well as antique roman letterforms. It works especially well letterspaced and in all caps. Alternate W, R, J, M, Q and K can be used to add a modest bit of flair to letterspaced, all cap treatments. Barmoor is mainly intended to be a display font or a limited text font.

Manufactory JNL and its oblique counterpart were re-drawn from examples of a now-antique typeface used within many advertisements found throughout the pages of The American Stationer magazine, circa 1879. The term ‘manufactory’ was popular during this era; the word being a more archaic form of ‘factory’. There is a bit of Western flavor to this type design, as the spurred serifs and the top and bottom strokes are heavier than the vertical and mid-point stroke weights.

ITC Santangeli is based on an eighteenth century manuscript by Italian writing master Benedetto Santangeli. Giuseppe Errico's design exudes the elegance and patina of a baroque sculpture. The capitals have verve, and the richly flowing ascenders and descenders enhance the vintage panache of the design. Errico has even included alternate characters and ink splotches to enable a realistic reproduction of antique lettering. Whether for large display copy or short blocks of text, Santangeli speaks with resonance and grace.

Devil Kalligraphy was performed by Argentina Lián Types in 2007. The shapes of each caracter have a strong personality. It was based on antique writings. Devil Kalligraphy was inspirated in calligraphy styles. Gothic and Uncial themselves. A mix with lots of personal qualities. Devil Kalligraphy has ligatures which look evil. Ascendents and descendents were designed to look that way too. Kerning was designed taking into account the way calligraphers used (and still use) to write: Pattern looking.

Minimal, modular, modern—at first glance, Materia shows a contemporary flair, combining pure, strong geometrical form with a subtle, distinct appearance. Actually, the design was inspired by lettering from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century that still can be found in the East of France. While its formal origins date back as far as this, revived e. g. by the constructivists into the nineteen twenties and later on by Dutch information designer Wim Crouwel in the nineteen-sixties, the visual language of Materia still speaks of the »future«. Following a minimalistic concept the font is formally built on a grid. Wherever optical curves are needed for a smoother, more comfortable shape of letters than a simple rectangular block, diagonals cut off the egdes – like a diamond is cut to achieve more beauty. Thus headlines and texts set in Materia are given a certain »egdy« feeling, whereas their tonality is still kept well-balanced, keeping concentation all on information in a nonconfomist way. Materia comes in eight styles, from elegant Thin to attention-forcing Ultra. Even a regular Italic is available, following the classic type-set-principle. Two of the styles are explicitly designed for display use, Shadow and Code. Both are ready for combinations with Bold or each other respectively, the layering of Shadow and Code e. g. allows astonishing effects or highlighting within the letters. For OpenType-users Materia is a real Pro, containing accented Latin letters for over 70 languages, small caps, old style, tabular and lining figures and special condensed titling all caps for cases in which space is all that counts. Every morning, after the kids have gone to school, I vacuum the floor and remove about half a kilo of breadcrumbs… No, not really have a kilo, but any given bird could probably survive on the leftovers.
