DESCRIPTION Now my feelings about didones are more than evident. After some years of roman-abstinence (1) I present Heroe, an interesting combination of elegance and sensuality. Heroe, spanish for hero, takes some aspects of roman typefaces to the extreme like my main inspiration, the great Herb Lubalin, did in the majority of his works: Thins turned into hairlines, altered proportions (for display purposes), unique ball terminals, poetic curves and a graceful way of placing them together on a layout. Its classy style makes the font perfect for a wide range of uses. Imagine Heroe Inline (my favorite) dancing over a bottle of perfume; printed on the cover of a fashion magazine; lighting wedding invitations up. TECHNICAL The difference between Pro and Std styles is the quantity of glyphs. While Pro styles have all the decorative characters available, Standard ones have only the basic set of them. Heroe Monoline Big and Heroe Monoline Small were made for better printing purposes. If you need to print the font in small sizes, then your choice should be Small. Heroe Monoline has the same alternates (and open-type code) as Heroe Pro and Inline, plus some decorative ligatures. URW Geometric Extended is the matching complement for the URW Geometric, including 20 additional extended styles. URW Geometric is a sans serif typeface inspired by the German geometric typefaces of the 1920s but designed for modern usability. What comes to your mind if I say Architype, Geometric, Gaelic, and Uncial? An impossible combination of features? An unrealistic setup of tastes as weird as your music list? Or some part of a joke told by your favourite comedian? Just chill and stick to the idea that is possible. Gallos combines the conceptual historical elegance of the Uncials with the practical rationalism of the Geometric style. Moreover, this typeface is composed by two sub families: Gallos Uncial and Gallos Architype. The letters “M”, “N”, “W”, “a”, “m”, “n”, “r”, and “w” differ between these two models. The first one is related to both: The Uncial script aspect displaying the leaned “a” with a closed bowl, and the classical geometric style depicting more conventional uppercase and lowercase letters “m” and “n”. The Architype one is inspired by Paul Renner’s Architype model, thus the leaned “a” has an open counter, the “r” is composed by a stem and a dot, and the rest of the mentioned letters were built using square rational features. Both models are connected by classical Uncial features such as the curved stroke “e” and curved shaft “t”, and with Gaelic vibes which can be seen in uppercase and lowercase letters “K” and “X”. Also, the curved descender “g” and “y”, alongside the curved stem “z” connect really well with the rest of the system and provide more uniqueness to the Gallos type family. Introducing Regave, a typeface inspired by Danish style lettering based off the work of Knud Valdemar Engelhardt (1882–1931) who designed the street signs for the Copenhagen suburb of Gentofte. The Engelhardt's design was loosely based on the lettering of two Danish architects of the time: Thorvald Bindesbøll (designer of the Carlsberg logo) and Anton Rosen. Big News! Tenez has been selected for the Tipos Latinos Biennial 2016 and Typographica’s Favorite Typefaces of 2015! Tenez is a Grand Slam display didone typeface from Plau. We designed it for a branding project, further developing the resulting logotype into a typeface we felt could solve many designers’ needs. Its origins are rooted in pointed nib calligraphy which can be seen in contemporary Didot and Bodoni inspired typefaces. But Tenez’s shapes are organic (these modern typefaces were originally cut by hand after all) – in fact that was the challenge we set from the start: to make a typeface as organic in construction as possible. This echoes some of late 19th century typefaces and advertising, yet we thought of it for contemporary uses. One of the several unique features of Tenez is its unusual Thin weight, in which the contrast between thin strokes and the black area left by the serifs makes for a typewriter-like personality. The italics provide a perfect counterpoint to the roman weights. Tenez was unapologetically conceived as a display typeface meant to be used large as in magazine openings, drop caps or everywhere there’s a need for elegant impact. The family includes support for almost all Latin languages available, figure sets for almost every conceivable occasion (tables, text, you name it), alternates for the quirky beautiful R (sometimes simpler is better, but not always!) and Q (with a nice big tail for that article opener). Tenez pairs really well with our no-frills sans-serif Motiva Sans and our cute vertical connected script Primot.

Sherbrooke is a simple and sans serif font. I have chosen the name of this typeface after the "Sherbrooke" Street in Montreal, Canada, that I daily walked in for several months in the late 2005 while I was studying in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I do adore this street and also I adore the whole city of Montreal. This font comes in two different weights. "Sherbrooke" can be used in wide fields of publications such as the titles of novels, literary texts, short stories, dictionaries, books, newspapers, websites, and magazines. It is suitable for T-shirts, mugs, advertisement light boards in malls, subtitles of movies, logos, cans of foods, and medicines' names. The font is more attractive when it is printed in calendars and for displaying the contents and paragraphs of electronic encyclopedias and different online websites. "Sherbrooke" is specifically designed for educational, journalistic, literary, and social purposes. The main characteristics of "Sherbrooke" Typeface are in its sans serif new designed letters and also in its lowercase special numerals. I think that these characteristics have made "Sherbrooke" exceptionally unique with its alphanumeric combinations. You can enjoy this typeface and use it anywhere at any product or service. It is simply gratuitous for all. The word "Sherbrooke" is a person's name. Sherbrooke Street - officially Rue Sherbrooke - is a major east-west artery at 31.3 kilometers in length and it is the second longest street on the Island of Montreal in Canada. The street is named for John Coape Sherbrooke, the Governor General of British North America from 1816 to 1818.

TA Regresso PRO graphic presentation at Behance TA Regresso PRO font is inspired by Didon and Bodoni fonts. A combination of a little Bodoni and a little Didon elements and a unique style and Text, Display, Subhead and about 80 styles, it is a font that gives the user a choice. TA Regresso font supports Greek, Hebrew, Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. After starting work on the font since February of last year, the font is ready today with constant revisions. Being open to learning, I sought help from experienced designers. I must mention that Yulia Gonina, the founder of Schrifteria Foundry, also helped me a lot to make Regresso good. With her knowledge and advice, the flaws in the font were eliminated. By the way, Viktor Baltus also helped me with his valuable advices. I did some research about the alphabets of the supported languages so that Regresso is good. I paid a lot of attention to the correct design of the letters. Dolsáb was designed from scratch with uniqueness in mind. The subtle movement from thick to thin and the variants of sharp to rounded make this cutting edge san serif a must have. The inspiration for Dolsab was a simple pairing of a rhombus and calligraphy. While neither of those two elements can be seen in their entirety in any instance, the influence of both is strong. The rhombus can be notice on most ascenders like on the lowercase t & l, for example. And the calligraphy inspiration is most easily captured on the descenders such as the lowercase y & g. The most beautiful characteristics of Dolsab is definitely the calligraphy-influenced movement. These features really stand out on the lowercase a & e. It's almost amusing to let your eye follow the contours of those two letter forms as they travel from thick to thin, sharp to rounded and back again. Users are welcomed to try all font styles of Dolsab in any applique of their choosing. However, it will be quickly noticeable that only Dolsab Air & Demi (the thiner of the styles) will be best suited for body copy. Personally I like to see these letterforms as large as they can be to really showcase the subtle movement, especially in Dolsab Heavy where these movements become much more dramatic. You'll never know what really works best unless you experiment. Dolsab surely isn't the answer to all projects, but it's certainly worth trying. No other typeface moves quite like Dolsáb.

Since my first contact with blackletters in 1999, I became more and more fascinated by these artistic looking typefaces. It all started in the USA at the age of 16, when I took an art class. I decided to trace some blackletter typefaces because they looked very interesting. From this point on I was intrigued by blackletter fonts from all over the world. I studied their different body structures and their cultural background as well as the type designers behind it. Full of information and inspiration I started to draw my own blackletter typeface in 2006. While studying in Hamburg I got in touch with the studio of URW++, where I got skilled in type software and development. Creating a type takes an eye for detail and patience but also lots of time and so it took almost 4 years until the project was finished. And so Ruca was born. Ruca is a refined and expanded typeface. When you look at the spines, the tails or the flags you can see the detailed drawing, which makes the font also extremely good looking in very tall letters. The full character set contains over 400 characters, many ligatures, two number sets and all important currency symbols. Over 300 kerning pairs and many OTF-features make the font easy in use for professional type applications. The typeface is very well applicable for strong headlines and mastheads. Pietro Aretino (1492 – 1556) Was an Italian author, playwright, poet, satirist and blackmailer, who wielded influence on contemporary art and politics. The most vigorous and versatile vernacular writer of the 16th century He was a very versatile writer, famous for his Lascivious Sonnets – which caused great scandal at the time – but also for his satirical verses, addressed to all the powerful people in Italy, without forgetting the many plays that he wrote for the theatre. Part of the charm of his letters is that through them you may know the whole of Venetian society from the top to the bottom. The little-known church of San Luca in Venice (in St Mark's district) has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries for people who are decidedly not devout: journalists, writers, free thinkers. In 1556 Pietro Aretino, a unique character of the Italian and Venetian Renaissance period was buried there. Such strong of personality, has contributed to generate the powerful wind of change that emerged from the italian renaissance. Burford is a font family that I sketched while traveling through Europe. I was mesmerized by all the unique typography that was showcased throughout the five countries I visited. Inspired by all that I had seen, I found myself spending 4-5 hours per day in Amsterdam’s Vondel Park drawing characters. Once back in the states I digitalized Burford, deciding it would make for a beautiful layer-based font. Burford Pro package comes with all 18 layering fonts including 5 base layers, 3 top layers, 5 bottom layers and 2 sets of graphic elements. They are strategically made to build on top of each other, creating a cohesive and easy to use layer-based family. Each font also comes with a set of Stylistic Alternatives for letters A C E F G H P Q R. This is Floral Decay, your seasonal autumn font with jaded, weathered, and earthy contours of rustic lettering. This font is unique because, in order to create it, I had to answer some tricky questions: What makes autumn… autumn? Capturing the essence of the other seasons into your letters comes easier. For instance, in order to suggest summer, you only need to draw a few flowers. How about autumn? You could garnish your letters with a few grapes, you might think, but it would only result in a grape-themed font. The notion that is more directly associated with autumn is the image of falling and withering leaves, which brought me to the second question. How exactly are you going to create something beautiful out of a somewhat morbid premise, like wilted leaves? Well, I soon realized that by creating a handwritten font and preserving the right imperfections, you can actually portray collateral beauty. In this context, asymmetry is important because it suggests decay. Further on, the design concept required the letters to come very close together, so that every typed word can be regarded as a floral arrangement. How close together, though? As much as possible without confusing one with the other, risking a lack of legibility. Therefore, in contrast with the demo version of this font, this actual version provides the ideal kerning.

FF DIN: the famous, faithful and first revival of DIN 1451. FF DIN originates in the lettering models from the German standard DIN 1451, and is considered the perfect standard typeface due to the methodical and engineered nature of its design. The name Corpid derives from “Corporate Identity” — which is what this family of low-contrast sans-serifs was made for. Corpid was originally commissioned by Studio Dumbar in the Netherlands as a corporate typeface for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fishing. The font was designed to replace the existing standard typeface (a well-known business-like sans-serif) to provide the organization with a unique and strong identity. Although it was designed to fit strict technical requirements, Corpid has a personality all of its own. This was in part a result of what Luc(as) calls “creating tension” between the inner and outer curves of each character. “I tend to put a little more diagonal contrast into fonts than is the case in most neutral sans serif fonts. This brings a certain humanistic touch to the typeface. Much more subtle here than in Thesis – but although it is almost invisible, it is still palpable.” Corpid was gradually expanded into a five-weight, three-width family. The new Corpid SemiCondensed has double functionality. It is a no-frills, compact headline font that offers optimum legibility in sizes from small to huge. It is also a great space-saving text typeface for magazines, newsletters or annual reports: economic, versatile, and provided with several different numeral sets. In this OpenType type version, all weights come with Small Caps. The Handel Gothic? typeface has been a mainstay of graphic communication for over 40 years - all the while looking as current as tomorrow. Designed by Don Handel in the mid-1960s, and used in the 1973 United Airlines logo developed by Saul Bass, Handel Gothic was an instant success when released to the graphic design community. Its generous lowercase x-height, full-bodied counters and square proportions make the design highly readable at a wide range of sizes. Handel Gothic's slightly idiosyncratic character shapes gave the face a futuristic look 40 years ago that retains its power today. In addition, its Uncial-like lowercase is instantly identifiable - and unique among sans serif typestyles. Award-winning type designer Rod McDonald was attracted to the simple, decisive forms of the original, but he felt the design needed to be refined and updated. ?One of my goals was to bring a modern typographic discipline to what was really an old phototypesetting font.? To achieve his goal, McDonald re-proportioned every character and balanced the delicate relationship between the curves and the straight strokes. He also added a number of alternate characters to extend the range of the design. ?I wanted to give designers a large enough character set so they wouldn't feel constrained in what they could do. I want them to be able to play with the fonts, not just set words.? McDonald enlarged the family from the single-weight original to five weights, each with a full suite of alternate characters.In 2015 Nadine Chahine designed matching arabic weights to this family.
