Kia ora is a M?ori-language greeting which is used as an informal greeting, equivalent to "hi" or "hello", or an expression of thanks. The koru (M?ori for loop or coil) is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling frond. Asta, named after the adorable pup in the “Thin Man” movies from the 1930‘s and early ‘40‘s, is an Art Deco / Streamline Moderne all-caps display font. Inspired by forms from the iconic machinery of the day like trains and autos, Asta has a heavy and masculine proportion, a cut-in “grille” effect and a slight slant which emphasizes its moderne roots. Fantastic for illustration or retro applications like antique product “logos,” signs and vintage packaging, or for a fun & funky ‘70‘s Disco look.

Archemy is a restricted and obscure branch of Alchemy that deals specifically with the life, generation and transmutation of Metals. The Archemy font is primarily a magical and alchemical alphabet. It was created on initiative of Senior Zadith, in order to properly quote older alchemical manuscripts, without the need to insert handwritten symbols. The font combines a unique and elegant Roman alphabet with a set of the most frequently used planetary and alchemical symbols that are common in the Western Mystery Tradition, and as used by those involved in the Royal Art. The Archemy font contains a selection of symbols that are still used by practitioners of the Art today, and for the sake of completeness, a selection of less used and more arcane symbols that can be found in older alchemical texts. In addition a Hebrew Alphabet is included, which will supply practitioners of the Art with the glyphs related to Cabalistic studies. The Hebrew Alphabet in this font does not include vowel points, since they have no place in ancient Hebrew, nor in the Western Mystery Tradition. A selection of the most distinct glyphs as used in the Antediluvian font family - the Alphabet of the Ancients - is included for those that wish to include the archetypal and arcane quality of these glyphs from the dawn of history. By our knowledge there exists at this time no font that includes a selection of Alchemical symbols, let alone combines all of the above mentioned archetypal symbols of occult language in a single package. In that respect Archemy can be considered to be an “Arch” font.

For our modern/futuristic fonts collection we wanted something truly science fictional, so Dave Nalle designed the Alecto font, an original design with a futuristic look, but some echoes of the type designs and lettering of the Arts & Crafts period. It looks much more modern, but you can see echoes of some of our other fonts like Semiramis in the design. Alecto features multiple versions of many of the characters to make it ideal for designing logos and titles.

Alphacal JNL and Alphacal Black JNL are variants of the same lettering style found in Jeff Levine's Juneway JNL font... all based on water-applied decals once made by the Duro Decal Company (now Duro Art Industries) of Chicago, Illinois. Alphacal JNL can be used alone as an outline font (best at 18 pt. and above) or with Alphacal Black JNL as a backfill. Note: Perfect registration is not guaranteed. On April 20, 1950, film comedian Jerry Lewis indulged his love of cameras by opening up Jerry Lewis’ Camera Exchange on Vine Street in Hollywood. It closed in 1951. Thanks to an image preserved within newsreel footage of the shop’s grand opening night, a glimpse of the post-Art Deco signage with its unusual, block style lettering inspired a digital version. Highly unusual and best for novelty projects, Shutterbug JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Safety is influenced by works from the Machine Age which had its greatest period between the two world wars and celebrated the triumphs of the late Industrial Age including mass production, skyscrapers, radio & phonographs, hydroelectric power and streamlined styling in industrial design. It is based on an Art Deco display style lettering known most popularly as Broadway or Manhattan but, having existed in a multitude of incarnations from showcard lettering to neon signs for a century.

This typeface was originally designed in 1930 by W.A. Dwiggins as the cover for the book American Alphabets by Paul Hollister. Only the 26 letters of the alphabet were included on the cover, so the rest of the numbers, punctuation, symbols, and accented characters have been crafted in a matching style. This strongly geometric Art Deco lettering style has been lovingly revived and is now available as an OpenType font. Over 3,300 kerning pairs are included.

Oblonga is an Art-Déco font proposed in a modern key, a revival performed without aggression. The name of this font is KOONS, which is inspired by an artist we respect very much. The font style is optimistic and positive, with pop art features. The lines of the font are highly geometric, preserving the original combination of strokes. In terms of details, on the basis of sans serif fonts, it is equipped with detailed and fun serif details. All treatments are done to ensure that this typeface remains highly recognizable, but also has attractive details and taste.

Dan Hardie, a Miami-based graphic artist and creative consultant at Mutiny, Inc. shared an image he’d spotted online of some interesting signage formerly on the front of the Miami Medical Building. Comprised of hand-cut metal characters (with a thoroughly avant-garde “Art Deco meets Modernist” approach), this instantly became a font design idea unusual and quirky enough to develop as a digital typeface. The end result is Office Visit JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

In the 1920 edition of “How to Paint Signs and Sho’ Cards” by E. C. Matthews is an example of what is termed “poster lettering” that is so free form and unusual it borders on the eccentric. Resembling lettering more commonly found in 1960s “underground comics” of the Hippie generation rather than of the Art Nouveau period, it oddly enough works well in both styles. This novelty typeface is now available as Hippie Comics JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Occasionally a type design is started - then set aside for whatever reason - before eventually being completed. More often than not, the original source material is forgotten, so proper attribution cannot be made. Such is the case for a hand lettered Art Nouveau alphabet likely found within the pages of an early Speedball lettering book from around the 1920s. This playful and casual design is now digitally reproduced as Nouveau Signage JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.
