Cartographer by Hipopotam Studio is a hand drawn serif typeface designed for our book Maps. Drawn with a 0.1 mm tip pen in a very small scale. It has only uppercase characters but each has alternate glyphs. It also has a lot of very useful features including multi-language support (with Cyrillic), discretionary ligatures, stylistic alternates, fractions, ordinals and contextual alternates that will automatically set alternate glyphs depending on frequency of appearance of the same character (even in web font but only in HTML5 browsers).

Das Grotesk was inspired by earlier nineteenth-century grotesques, but it is much more related to American gothic designs such as those by M.F. Benton. Due to their pure geometric structure, most grotesque typefaces tend to have a rather monotonous and lifeless appearance, thus failing to express the ideals of the modern creed. Das Grotesk on the other hand is a lively design with several distinguishable characteristics which attract attention when set at large sizes, whilst they become subtle and blend evenly at small sizes, fostering a neutral identity. This is a very legible and space-saving typeface with a narrow structure. It was designed with slanted curved ends and sheared terminals applied on several straight strokes. Pacific Clipper has its roots in an old 1930s showcard lettering style. An extra bold version of this sign painter’s relic is shown in Carl Holmes' wonderful book on lettering. It may be described as what happens when Rudolf Koch's Kabel Heavy meets ATF's Novel Gothic. Also known as Sam’s Tune, Pacific Clipper’s noteworthy features include wedged crossbars in the capital A, E, F, and H. Overcurving is present in the capital B, D, P, and R while vertical strokes in the lowercase b, d, h, k, l, and t are chopped off obliquely. Trovoada Mono is a monospaced font for use in print (but also looks great on display). Hand-drawing glyph by glyph, my intention was to get that old manual typewriter look, with uneven inks, but with a totally up-to-date, emotional and admittedly humorous attitude. Trovoada Mono borrows from classics like Courier and Letter Gothic, reinventing serifs here and there. The result is a font that is both familiar and unusual. As I love Greek typography, I made sure to include a full polytonic alphabet, in the same vintage spirit: the text looks very legible and matches the Latin characters. The font has no kerning, obviously, and no ligatures (this is a typewriter, my friend!), but it has important OpenType features: fractions, subscripts/superscripts, slashed zero and stylistic alternatives for some characters. The italics are 11 degrees, which brings a strong personality. Some characters have true italics, giving the text an overall texture different from the upright type. All that is missing is that nervous typewriter noise. Enjoy!

Was inspired by the old west days that we can often see in printing, circus posters and wanted notices in western movies, even tho the style was really used in many parts of the world during that period. This style is sometimes called as "circus letter" too. Sneakers was a typeface that I originally drew all the way back in 2005, with a release in 2006. Its most recent iteration, Sneakers Pro was released in 2009. Since then, the idea of reworking the design has lingered in the back of my head, but I wanted to add additional flexibility and value to anything offered beyond the originals. Sneakers Max does just that and I am happy to see it released and available to everyone. Sneakers Max raises the bar in terms of functionality… incorporating all of the options found in Sneakers Pro (e.g. Small Caps and a biform/unicase located now in Titling Alternates), but it expands the character offering, improves on letter designs (everything was redrawn) and explores more flexible settings by providing 5 distinct counter widths to keep more uniform multi-line settings with mixed letter heights. Special thanks to Potch Auacherdkul for his additions to the original character set and for his engineering skills.

Marjac is an angular and upright script typeface that is directly inspired by handwriting. It is created after "Jacno", a typeface designed in 1948 by French type and graphic designer Marcel Jacno. This unique bold design later inspired other typeface designers to create brush script typefaces like Roger Excoffon’s "Choc". You will also notice it has a "unicase" feel, sharing some lowercase letters in the capital letters. It is recommended to use it for any packaging designs related to quality hand-made products, advertising, web, film title sequence design, posters, magazines and book jackets. Marjac is loaded with an extended character set, supporting Central, Western and Eastern European languages. It has plenty of cool OpenType features like a fun automatic brush underline feature or newly-designed secret alternate letters (like capital A). Kerning and spacing (+ than 25,000 kerning pairs) have been meticulously made-to-measure to this specific brush typeface.
