The typeface was designed at ParaType (ParaGraph) in 1997 by Manvel Shmavonyan for Russian primary school sample writing schoolbooks. The typeface is based on script fonts presented in the book 'Rodnoy Mir' by. L.I.Tikunova. The first version of the font included just letters of Russian alphabet and basic set of figures and signs. The second version with extended set of alphabetic letterforms was developed in 2004 by Gennady Fridman. Current third version that covers full Cyrillic and Western code pages was prepared by Gennady Fridman and released in 2009. Medium style also was added by him in 2009.

Croog Pro is an upgraded version of Croog fonts (2009). As its predecessor, the new release is a rounded geometric monoline typeface, but built now in four weights with true italics. One more style has been added - "Black", for display use. Squarish in proportions, monoline letterforms gain more readability by having short rounded serifs and terminals. The typeface is ideal for use in display sizes, though is quite legible in text. Compass Next is a third edition of Compass TRF designed in 2002. The first time Compass TRF has been conceived was as a “geometric” Didone – all letters literally were drawn with a ruler and a compass. Second edition (2009) got additional styles – Flourish Initials and Small Caps. This time, the objective was to bring overall extreme geometrical expression closer to traditional letterform style of its “modern style” typeface category (Didone). The hand lettered word ‘puzzles’ from the box cover of a 1940s set of metal “connected” puzzle pieces manufactured by the A.C. Gilbert Company was the initial typographic model, but some additions and changes were made. Instead of the right side of the ‘P’ being a semi-circle, it was changed to a more conservative ‘’squared’ look. After drawing out all of the necessary glyphs, the overall height of the characters was extended to make the letters and numbers appear taller and narrower. The end result is Narrow Deco JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Jobst Gutknecht was a highly successful printer in the city of Nuremburg from 1514 to 1542. He published the "Achtliederbuch" (the first Lutheran hymnal, with a whole 4 tunes) and many works by Martin Luther. This font is an accurate "recutting" of the font face Gutknecht used for the body text in his printed works. It has been extended to over 900 glyphs adding hundreds for modern use.
