Neo-grotesque Sans Serif mixed with the classical handwritten Script in slanted geometric shapes - that’s the way Mixa was born. Those two faces of the new font family makes it as much as unique and recognizable. When you’re using the Capitals only nobody will suspect that there is script hidden in the lowercase. That’s why all eight weights can be combined perfectly with wide list of classical Sans Serif, Slab Serif and Serif typefaces. Tabac Slab was created by combining several contradictory influences, the result of which is a universal linear font. The combination of brisk serifs and refined calligraphic details in the structure of the characters serves to create an original concept that mixes influences from both book and advertising graphics. Serifs aid legibility in long texts, while small drawn details realise their full potential in sizes of twenty-four points and larger. The basis for our Egyptienne was Tabac Sans, with which Slab logically forms a harmonic duo. The addition of bracket-less serifs caused the typeface to thicken and become solidly anchored on the lines, giving a firm answer to all typographers who like to complain about the slight exuberance of grotesque fonts.

Zona Pro is a geometric sans-serif type family of 8 styles plus matching italics, designed by Kostas Bartsokas in 2013/14. It draws inspiration from 1920’s geometric style faces, having clean and highly readable shapes, and mixes it up in the heavier weights with a slight variance in the stroke widths, lending it a grotesque-ish unique and distinctive look. Zona Pro is multifunctional and versatile. With its modern yet elegant form it performs amazingly in display sizes and headlines. Transport New is a redrawing of the typeface designed for British road signs. In addition to the familiar Heavy and Medium weights, Transport New extrapolates and adds a previously unreleased Light weight font originally planned for back-lit signage but never actually applied. Version 3.0 of Transport New features significant improvements including numerous outline and spacing refinements, and a full complement of Latin Extended-A characters. Also, to align Transport New with the 2015 release of Motorway, the other typeface used for UK road signage, Italic fonts for all three weights have been added. Originally designed by Jock Kinneir and Margaret Calvert beginning in 1957 and first published on the Preston bypass in 1958, the original Transport font has subtle eccentricities which add to its distinctiveness, and drawing the New version involved walking a tightrope between impertinently eliminating awkwardness and maintaining idiosyncrasy. The Grotesk roots of the glyphs were investigated and cheekily fine-tuned – uncomfortably close terminals of characters such as 5, 6, C, G, and e were shortened, the S and s were given a more upright aspect and their protruding lower terminals tucked in, overly wide glyphs like the number 4 were narrowed, and some claustrophobic counters were slightly opened up. The question mark was redesigned and parentheses given some stroke contrast. The x height was edged fractionally even taller. The Heavy font is actually more of a Bold, and the Light is pretty much a regular weight, but the original nomenclature has been retained for old times’ sake.

Hutton is a sans-serif typeface with flattened overshoots, such as shoulders, arms, and bowls. There are seven weights, from light to bold, with matching oblique italics. Inspired by using a ruler to write straight lines, and offering additional horizontality to characters, Hutton’s flattened bowls are intended to evoke a sense of flatness and retro influence – as if drawn at a drafting table. Featuring closed counters and low-contrast, Hutton is closely related to grotesque sans serif designs of the 20th Century, but with something a little different. Consequently, “Nasser” Typeface was designed for eternizing the memory of my late father. He was the person who taught me how to like arts, literature, and languages. Besides, my first cute child is named also “Nasser.” The main characteristic of “Nasser” Typeface is in its modern non-descender style for some of its Arabic characters such as “Sad”, “Seen”, “Sheen”, “Qaf” and others. Syntho is a modular typeface with 18 variants and a Variable Font. Its structure is geometric and modular, but its proportions resemble those of classic grotesque typefaces, giving it a familiar feel to the designer. It also includes two subfamilies, 200 and 300, which are expansions of the typeface in width, providing greater possibilities for the designer in any project.

Arial is one of the most widely used designs of the last 30 years. Drawn in 1982 by Robin Nicholas and Patricia Saunders for use in an early IBM® laser printer, Arial has become a staple for textual content. While it is widely believed that Arial's design was based on Helvetica, it is more accurate to consider Monotype Grotesque as its ancestor.

Each letter is handmade and drawn with a “blobbly” pen, leaving a wobbly and grungyline. The corners are rounded which adds a blurry look to the rough lines. Chercán is a spirited typeface created with a delicate sense of how readability doesn't need to be dull. Chercán wears a uniquely friendly voice, and its mature design makes it highly legible in small bodies as well as in the distance. Its balanced rhythm is the result of a slow pairing of qualities found in old classics admired by Gálvez, such as Copperplate by Frederic Goudy (1905) and Antique Olive by Roger Excoffon (1962). Mocombo JNL is a slightly modified version of one of the numerous alphabets created by the late Alf R. Becker for Signs of the Times Magazine during the period of the 1930s through the 1950s. Tod Swormstedt of ST Media—who is also the curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio—supplied Jeff Levine a wealth of source material from which this font is derived. The angular style of this typeface was originally referred to as “German Poster Lettering” by Becker, but it can represent many styles from 1940s night clubs to African safaris and just about anything in-between.

Hebden is a ‘Northern’ font. Inspired by the town Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire, the family is a mix of a grotesque and an incised serif. The grot is based on Victorian train station signage and the serif is style that can be spotted in and around the Yorkshire Dales region. Hebden has a nostalgic twist and is ideal for labelling, signage and memorable messages. The grotesque face with its robust angles and warm circular curves recalls the style of traditional English sans-serifs like Caslon’s 2-Line Egyptian. The incised face has strong but sophisticated and natural forms and is based on a wood carved style popular in the early 20th century. Salvatore is the neo-grotesque younger brother of Nutmeg type family. It comes with 36 weights that have been separated in two flavours. The name comes from the Mad Men character Salvatore Romano, who was a publisher in the mid 60s. DESCRIPTION Now my feelings about didones are more than evident. After some years of roman-abstinence (1) I present Heroe, an interesting combination of elegance and sensuality. Heroe, spanish for hero, takes some aspects of roman typefaces to the extreme like my main inspiration, the great Herb Lubalin, did in the majority of his works: Thins turned into hairlines, altered proportions (for display purposes), unique ball terminals, poetic curves and a graceful way of placing them together on a layout. Its classy style makes the font perfect for a wide range of uses. Imagine Heroe Inline (my favorite) dancing over a bottle of perfume; printed on the cover of a fashion magazine; lighting wedding invitations up. Its partner, Heroe Monoline, may help you to make more elaborated pieces of design. Just combine it with Heroe, or Heroe Inline and see how perfect they match. TECHNICAL The difference between Pro and Std styles is the quantity of glyphs. While Pro styles have all the decorative characters available, Standard ones have only the basic set of them. Romanovsky is the font developed on the base of samples from the catalogue of Osip Lehman foundry in Sankt Petersburg. Original Latin design that was used for Romanovsky can be found in Feder Grotesk by Jacob Erbar. The current digital font is not a scanned version of Lehman’s samples but a newly drawn typeface that differs from the original in many details. Romanovsky is a sans serif typeface with narrow proportions and noticeable contrast. It will be good for headings and display matters. Character set covers languages of Western and Central Europe and Cyrillic-based languages. It also contains around 20 ligatures of uppercase letters for the most frequent combinations. Secession is a very readable typeface, suitable for short blocks of text. Unlike Kunstler Grotesk, Secession was designed with a lower case. Secession Bold was originally jointly released as Halbfette Secession by Bauer & Company of Stuttgart and H. Berthold AG of Berlin around 1898. The rest of the family was designed by HiH. The basic family of four: Text, Oblique, Bold and BoldOblique are available in two versions: one set with the standard contemporary lining or ranging numerals for spreadsheets and tables and one set of old-style figures (with OSF in font name) for use with text. The two versions of the basic family, Secession and Secession OSF were released in July 2006. Cousins include ExtraBold, SCOSF Text, and two multi-lingual versions of the text weight. Secession ML includes the Latin Extended-A character set in unicode format plus 17 ligatures and a few strays. The Journal Sans typeface was developed in the Type Design Department of SPA of Printing Machinery in Moscow in 1940–1956 by the group of designers under Anatoly Schukin. It was based on Erbar Grotesk by Jacob Erbar and Metro Sans by William A. Dwiggins, the geometric sans-serifs of the 1920s with the pronounced industrial spirit. Journal Sans, Rublenaya (Sans-Serif), and Textbook typefaces were the main Soviet sans-serifs. So no wonder that it was digitized quite early, in the first half of 1990s. Until recently, Journal Sans consisted of three faces and retained all the problems of early digitization, such as inaccurate curves or side-bearings copied straight from metal-type version. The years of 2013 and 2014 made «irregular» geometric sans-serifs trendy, and that fact affected Journal Sans. In the old version curves were corrected and the character set was expanded by Olexa Volochay. In the new release, besides minor improvements, a substantial work has been carried out to make the old typeface work better in digital typography and contemporary design practice. Maria Selezeneva significantly worked over the design of some glyphs, expanded the character set, added some alternatives, completely changed the side-bearings and kerning. Also, the Journal Sans New has several new faces, such as true italic (the older font had slanted version for the italic), an Inline face based on the Bold, and the Display face with proportions close to the original Erbar Grotesk. The new version of Journal Sans, while keeping all peculiarities and the industrial spirit of 1920s-1950s, is indeed fully adapted to the modern digital reality. It can be useful either for bringing historical spirit into design or for modern and trendy typography, both in print and on screen. Linotype Salamander is a part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. Designed by German artist Michael Struller, the font seems to be composed of strokes and curves jointed together to form characters. Yet Salamander also looks like a handwriting font, in part because of its slight lean to the right. The font contains four basic weights, from regular to demibold, and two particularly heavy double-weights. Linotype Salamander is a light and lively font, particularly good for short texts of point size 10 and up or, in its heavier weights, for headlines and displays.
