File Folder JNL and File Folder Italic JNL are a pair of sans serif fonts with a square look.

The Lina typeface family was designed by Roy Cole and completed in 2003. The roman font, Lina 30, was drawn originally by hand and later its character set extended and digitally redrawn with the aid of Fontographer. The five additional fonts, 60, 90, and the italics 33, 66, 99 followed and were all produced digitally from scratch. Lina is characterized by economy, lightness and evenness of weight. The capitals and figures are not as tall as the lower-case but retain the latter’s weight, and the figures are designed to provide enhanced recognition. The characters are relatively large on the body and text and benefit from additional leading. Lina is essentially a typeface for text composition. Roy Cole's other typeface families are Zeta, Colophon and Coleface.

Merrivale is an ideal example of the benefits of keeping ones eyes open- it was inspired by the gilt-finished raised lettering on a late Victorian shopsign in Melbourne, Australia. The family of seven faces include upper and lower case forms, small capitals, all capital forms, and flamboyant display forms. Extensive Opentype features are incorporated. All faces are offered in incised forms inspired by the original lettering as well as in solid black filled forms. Thsee typefaces are wonderful for signage where either a period air or a dignified but legible feel are required. They also lend themselves to other display uses such as posters, book covers and so forth and are ideal for the title lines of certificates.

Merel is a modern geometric typeface with humanist attributes. Geometry and logic are at the heart of this 6 weight font family. Humanist touches give it a number of distinctive characteristics, as well as aid legibility. Despite being rational and function driven in its nature, Merel has a soft and gentle touch. Set of ornaments based on the decorative motifs used by the first typographic workshop in Buenos Aires: “Imprenta de Niños Expósitos”, between 1780 and 1824. This set is the product of an extensive historical research that aims to identify the type that came from Europe to the City during colonial times, and during the first years of Argentina’s independence. This group has a lot of diversity, which fluctuates between organic baroque forms and geometric neoclassical. Its characters can be used in editorial design along with Roman typefaces, they work individually or grouped to form different figures, guards or frames. It was baptized in honor to the first printer who worked in the workshop: the Spanish Agustín Garrigós.

The motivation behind the Botanika family was the desire to create a text version of the Magion font. Although the glyphs were originally drawn using the same proportions, they were subsequently adjusted in order to improve legibility. The font retains certain characteristics of the original, such as the top serif on the “i” and the similar bottom serif on the “l”. Lowering the x-height lent the family a new and original character. The italics are slightly more condensed than the regular weight, without losing the austere grace of the regular weight. They are distinct enough to stand out in the text. Alternative characters can be selected to spice up the setting, or conversely to subdue headlines by using more traditional letter shapes. Small caps are available as well. The monospace version is a 10 pitch font: at 10 pt type size 10 characters fit exactly into the width of one inch, meaning that individual letters Take up 60 % of an em in width. The family is provided with matching italics. The modifications made during the OpenType transition included the addition of missing glyphs to cover the Suitcase Standard set and adding relevant kerning pairs, plus redrawing the bold weight and the accents. Despite its lower x-height, the font is often used for setting medium to long texts. Its slightly archaic feel lends text set in Botanika an air of novelty, which may be the reason why it is so popular in extensive corporate identity systems. If you are looking for an alternative to the cold, neutral sans serifs which are so popular these days, Botanika is the perfect choice.

Buddy is the new companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for my book on font design design. Originally, I called it Compagnon, but that seemed to pompous. Then I called it Aide, but that was too formal and dry. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 4-font Buddy family of Regular, Italic, Bold, & Bold Italic. I made a new, more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage, but there are still small caps, small cap figures, oldstyle figures, numerators, and denominators. The bold is closer to a black, and the italics are only slightly slanted obliques. If you need a strong black in caps, use the small caps of the bold.
