Although initially designed as a rational/geometric font, Triplex developed into one of Zuzana Licko's most intuitive typeface designs at the time. Blacketor came about from hand lettering I had done for my own personal use several years ago. It remained unfinished until now. I was going for a more traditional serif font but in the process of play various versions came about while playing with the serifs, in an attempt to be slightly different. Many versions fell to the wayside as I learned more about what didn’t work than what did. What came about was a clean font with large open counters and short ascenders for an easy read. All caps works well for a bold but not shouty statement. A good font for Headlines and callouts as well as logotypes.

IMPuzzled uses the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives to alternate two sets of characters. The sets are on two puzzle pieces that tessellate, that is, fit together to fill the plane with no gaps or overlaps. Empty pieces are on the brace keys and can be used to fill spaces. The black or solid style is designed to be used in a layer under the regular style, though it can be used alone if adjacent pieces are given different colors. This unusual font has limited uses but may be appropriate when the topic is related to the broad areas of puzzles, puzzled, and fitting pieces together.

A narrow, modern Slab Serif. JOSEFOV is directly derived from the sans serif text font ”Hedwig“. Therefore, of course, it pairs best with “Hedwig”. The basic thought was to create a font with heavy rounded serifs in the style of ”Clarendon“ but which hardly reminds one of that particular font. The form principle of rounded serifs is applied whenever possible — for example at the points where the individual strokes of the characters join one another. JOSEFOV seems very technical, very constructed (and truly is). In order to soften up the rigid impression, the serifs are applied at some points contrary to the tradition handed down, as with the upper case A C G K M V W and the lower case a b d h i j k l s t. Historically there is no example of the laterally oriented serifs of capital and small s (S) and C G. On the other hand, the double-sided serifs on the stems of b d h k l appear at the beginning of modern times in the very first serif types from five hundred years ago. The double-sided serifs of A M V W were also customary in the first decades of printing. JOSEVOV is particularly suitable for topics such as nature, folklore, culture, music, nutrition.
