A ”modern“ Gothic – designed according to principles of modern form in three variations Faber Gotik is a reminiscence of Gutenberg’s first script from around 1450. The heavily broken forms allow further development in the direction of a modern, strongly geometric and less formal type. It should be possible to push the principle of design so far to the limit that a type is created which, from the very start, extinguishes reminders of a dark past. The characters are composed of squares which are lined up straight or in a more or less slanted manner. The resulting corners similar to serifs were removed so that a sans serif type in the true sense without up and down strokes was created. The principle of ”breaking“ was applied according to the historical model. Even the form of the characters is based on the model from the Middle Ages. Only the characters which cannot be created with the principle described were modeled on today's forms. Faber Gotik includes three variations: - Faber Gotik Text — most similar to the historical model - Faber Gotik Gothic — pushes the applied principle of form the furthest - Faber Gotik Capitals —; a Gothic upper case font, contrary to tradition. 555 years after Gutenberg, interest in black-letter typefaces is nearly extinct. They are especially looked down upon in German-speaking countries because they are still associated with ”Nazi“ scripts. But yet, the very forms of blackletter, Gothic, Schwabacher and especially cursive have enormous potential with regard to the development of new advanced font forms.

Mid Century Sans (MCS) is composed of high-geometric shapes. László Moholy-Nagy —professor in the Bauhaus— said “Typography is a tool of communication. Hanna has its roots in the Plato and Cilantro fonts published earlier by Wilton Foundry. It is an informal roman and very legible at any size - a rare combination for many applications. Hanna was specifically designed to generate additional income for an orphanage in Ethiopia. Hanna Teshome runs an orphanage of roughly 140 children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She is an amazing lady with a deep passion for orphan kids as well as innocent kids that find themselves in jail because their mothers have been imprisoned - they are treated as prisoners and are typically sexually abused - it is not uncommon for them to commit suicide when they are released from jail at age 18. Most of the orphans end up with Hanna because one or both of their parents have died from AIDS. Hanna relies entirely on donations to keep her orphanage running and this font is a small but tangible way for you to help make a difference in the lives of the orphan kids. I am committed to helping Hanna after visiting the orphanage several times and seeing the jails from where the kids have been rescued. Hanna is my hero because she stepped out of her comfort zone, with no financial support, to take care of the kids. My hope is that you will use this font as a messenger of good. Coriander is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson. It started out as a doodle one afternoon Donaldson was bored and uninspired. He wrote the word Coriander" and was then distracted by the sun beating through an adjacent window. He taped the writing paper up on the window as a shade. He took it down a few months later, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. When the piece of paper fell out of his pocket a week later, he was inspied to draw the rest of the characters, two alphabets in his sketchbook. The final digitized characters were created by Donaldson using a Wacom tablet and later refined on the screen."

In Vasetters the letters are cut from the shape of a tessellating vase. To get the tessellating effect, the two sets of letters (and numbers and some symbols) must alternate, and this is done automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives (calt). Vasetters is monospaced and comes in two weights. The regular weight is tightly spaced, which should not be a problem at large point sizes. At small point sizes adjacent letters can be colored differently or the character spacing can be increased. The lighter weight can be used alone or layered above the regular weight to create the effect of hollow lettering. Vasetters is is fun, bizarre, weird, and obviously a decorative display font.

British designer Bob Newman's Horatio family is a delightful look back into the modernists experiments of the 1920s. This geometric sans serif design was created in 1971, and was originally released by Letraset. We are please to offer the family in digital form, in light, medium, and bold weights. Many designers during the 1920s were interested in reforming the alphabet, and wanted to reconcile letterforms with the machine and manufacturing technology of the age. Herbert Bayer at the Bauhaus was one of many designers who developed a universal alphabet," creating letters using only the simplest of geometric forms. Similar experiments in 1920s-style revivals were also created during the 1970s, most notably Herb Lubalin's ITC Avant Garde Gothic."
