As as a computer programmer, it is my job to stare at screens of text all day. As soon as I learned the mechanics of font design, I boldly set out to design a typeface from my own handwriting that I could use to make my life easier. First, it had to have very distinctive numerals (trust me, it can be easy to mistake an 8 for a 3 in code), it had to have huge punctuation characters (even Perl code like '[lN*1lK[d2%Sa2/d0' looks good in Debug), and it had to be a bit friendlier than Courier (so that I don't give up hope when my code won't compile). I had so much fun designing it that I decided to give it strange lower-case 'i's and 'm's as a bonus. I also spent far too much time hinting it so that it would look as nice as possible at low resolutions.

Here's a font system distilled from the lettering styles of a thousand vintage psychedelic rock albums and posters from the swingin' sixties. All of the grooviness, but perhaps twice the legibility of some of the more "far out" examples from the genre. This family features an extensive character set and multilingual glyphs, so you can say "Trippy, Man." in many languages. The design of Hibernica is based on my Lapidaria family. With Lapidaria it shares the classic appearance and coolness, stroke pattern, proportions and dimensions. Therefore Hibernica and Lapidaria are a perfect couple for bilingual text editing, e.g. Irish–English (not to forget the Greek parts of Lapidaria!). We popped the Doohickey into the Framistat and out popped this Whatchamacallit! Is it fat? is it thin? Is it tall? Is it short? Is it light? Is it heavy? Is it condensed?! is it expanded?! Yes, yes, yes and yes -- It’s all of the above and more! Our resident mad scientist John “Mr. Fontastic” Roshell has developed a single contraption that can handle any design emergency, from crimelords to supervillain team-ups to alien invasions. Whatchamacallit is a friendly and readable sans-serif, inspired by some of our all-time favorites -- Gill Sans, Futura, Venus and Antique Olive. But, like its machinery-contraption namesakes Doohickey and Framistat, Whatchamacallit has a lively personality -- the strokes are a little wavy, the ends a bit bulbous, and the circles are like little loaves of bread, rising in the Whatchamacallit's oven... delicious!

The Brushability is a brush-written font family that contains 9 fonts, all united by a brushy look. All fonts compliment each other perfectly and can be used either together or with many other brush-looking fonts on the market. The script contains a lot of alternates, swashes, ligatures, arrows etc. while the Extras font has quite a few design elements with the same brush look - such as arrows, frames and swashes - to add more personality to the design. The 5 sans serif fonts (ranging from Light to Black) also contain alternate glyphs for certain letters - just to make your design process even more fun. All fonts, as usual, are fully unicode mapped so you can use them in any application. Just be aware that if your application doesn’t support OpenType features, you’ll have to choose the glyphs you need manually.

Pontifica is based on ‘protogothic’ calligraphy, a style developed at the monastery of St. Gall in the 12th century to replace Carolingian minuscule with a more efficient and compact system of lettering. Ultimately it became the progenitor of the gothic lettering styles of the late Medieval period. Lehmann Egyptian is a font of three styles, based on the pre-revolutionary hand set fonts by Berthold and Lehmann type foundries in St. Petersburg. Designed mainly for display typography, the font works well in small texts too. There's also a quite useful bonus — a stylistic set of historical forms. Lehmann Egyptian was designed by Albert Kapitonov in cooperation with Dmitry Kirsanov and released by ParaType in 2018.

Sign Production JNL somewhat resembles Sign Kit JNL but there are some noticeable differences. The letters and numbers in Sign Production JNL are bolder, wider and have some slightly different character shapes. The common theme is that both fonts were designed from die-cut letters and numbers found in the Webway Sign Cabinet, manufactured by the Holes-Webway Company of St. Cloud, Minnesota until its demise in the 1980s.
