Komu is the revival of a style of letters frequently used on billboards during the socialist period in the former Czechoslovakia. These were usually uppercase letters made of paper and covered with a layer of aluminum foil. People just had to pick the letters (that included a variety of widths and sizes) out from a box and pin them up on a styrofoam billboard, thus making it easy to announce any event. Komu consists of two styles. Version A is rather squarish and includes some weird characters (K, 5, narrow E, strange diacritics) while version B is more rounded with most letters equally wide (with the exception of E, F and L, which look really wide next to the rest). The optical disparity of the original letters was kept, so that some of them look slightly darker than the others. Komu is intended to be used on posters, books and other products about Socialism in our region and includes full support for languages based on latin script.

Babetta is a display typeface that comes with some decorative typographical features. Alongside a set of arrows and flower icons, it also includes an alternative ›E‹, some special diacritic marks, a wavy ›S‹ and a series of ligatures. It features 5 weights, a special ›Neon‹ version and supports a wide range of Latin languages. This typographical tool box provides a large and playful variety of options for headlines and logotypes. The initial inspiration for Babetta was an illuminated vintage shop sign—that of a famous bookstore in Berlin called Karl-Marx-Buchhandlung that dates back to the days of East Germany. During the course of the design process, this slightly shabby historical original was kissed by an Italian Art Deco beauty and has blossomed into a new typeface with its own special charm. The aim was not to preserve the original lettering, but to use it as a starting point for typographical exploration.

Proper was based on handwritten characters (of my own) that I scanned and then digitally touched up. I kept the digital editing to a minimum so as to preserve the freshness of the original. I did, however, want to convey a sense of propriety and regularity and so my original handwriting was done with quite a lot of control. I kept the size of the lower case characters quite large and this makes the font very readable, even at quite small point sizes. Proper may be used when you need clean, legible text, with a natural look, e.g.: -- magazines aimed at the natural health market -- "natural look" fashion pages -- "natural look" decor pages -- natural food products -- natural beauty products -- children's books -- packaging for children's toys, games etc. -- educational material -- comics Proper contains a full character set with all upper and lower case characters, numerals, symbols, accented characters and it has been carefully spaced and kerned.

Aquawax Pro PDF Specimen Aquawax Graphic Project on Behance Created as a custom brand typeface in 2008 by Francesco Canovaro, Aquawax is one of Zetafonts most successful typefaces - having been chosen, among the others, by Warner Bros for the design of the logo for the Aquaman movie. Its logo design roots are obvious in the design details, from the blade-like tail of the Q and the fin-like right leg of the K to the intentionally reversed uppercase W, as well as the rounded edges softening the stark modernist lettershapes. While this details make the typeface extremely suitable for logo and display design, especially in the bolder weights, the open, geometric forms of the letters and a generous x-height make it extremely readable at small sizes, making it perfect for body text and webfont use. Linotype Boberia is part of the Take Type Library, which features winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by Bo Berndal, its historical roots lie in the neoclassicism of the turn of the 20th century. The slender letters with a large x-height and marked stroke contrast give the font an elegant character. The nostalgic, flowing forms are typical of Art Deco fonts and allow designers a number of possibilities for the font’s use. Boberia includes regular, italic and bold type styles.

Devin is designed mainly for the benefit of the advertising industry, and it surely is a nice typeface for headings, isn't it? And you should see what a nice body type it makes! I had no other typeface in mind when working with it, but I can now find several typefaces it is related to. It reminds of the egyptienne group, but I did't really plan that. The name Devin is taken from my birth region. There is a castle with that name on the northern Adriatic coast (known even from Rilke's Duino elegies - Duino is another name of the same castle). A castle ruin called Devin, too, can be found on a height above the Danube in Slovakia, not far away from its capital Bratislava. Devin was released in 1994.

Star Ornaments are seen as a long standing companion to many wood type poster layouts. Various manufacturers managed to derive many variations of the five pointed star motif and offered them as a ubiquitous ornament option in almost all of their catalogs. Manufacturers such as Wm. H Page, Morgans & Wilcox, Tubbs Mfg. Co. and of course, Hamilton Wood Type each had their own slight variations. This digital font features almost 100 glyphs of mostly stars, but it also features a unique star border that can create boxes just like the modular offerings of the 19th century. The twist on this digital version is the inclusion of additional connection options that become a unique lettering 'kit' that can create typography or maze-like connections using a limited set of component parts.

This typeface finds a perfect balance between technical excellence, careful design of letter forms for extended reading, and a measured dose of charm and personality. Its informal feel allows for successfully typesetting a wide range of applications, from magazines and fiction books to advertising and websites. Calligraphy, be it done with the broad-edge pen, brush, or other tools, has been fundamental in the development of Pollen. Its influence is clearly visible in the construction of the top serifs contrasting the curved bottom serifs and the fluid aspect of terminals and tails, such as on “g” and “r”. The shapes of the diagonal letters are based on a less formal calligraphic model, but still uses the broad edge pen. ­The letters were then subject to a further process of pencil drawing and digital re-interpretation, which gave them the final shape. The designs of “e” and “c” are derived from drawings made with only one continuous line, with the pencil always touching the paper. The letters “g” and “y” express the intention to bring informal elements to a typeface intended for long text reading, usually characteristic of casual writing. A few emails sent to Canada Type have asked for more “bad scripts”. A few others asked for "more Mascara-like treatments". And some asked for more fonts of “distressed elegance”. Whatever you like to call this style of doubled-script font, sightings of designs using it have become common within the last few years. Such fonts have become the standard in expressing elegant confusion, old chaos in modern settings, recycled histories, and rebellious ideas. This style is quite often seen on chic clothing, music packaging, some sports paraphernalia, surfer and skateboarder gear, even book covers. That said, the Heathen font was made to include an advantageous feature that other distressed scripts do not normally have: More intertwined over-swashing in the majuscules. This over-swashing is quite useful in settings where the stroke and fill colors differ, or complement each other. It is also quite the point of emphasis where the idea is to show elegance gone ancient, old thoughts in a modern wrapper, rust never sleeping, or the very basic limits of the world’s nature. The original Heathen was made by redrawing Phil Martin’s Polonaise majuscules and superposing them over the majuscules of Scroll, another Canada Type font. The lowercase is a superposition of Scroll’s lowercase atop a pre-release version of Sterling Script, yet another Canada Type font. Heathen Two was made in a similar way, by combining two pre-release Canada Type scripts.

As you can see, Nefertiti is a font based on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and could be classified as a fun-font. I've always been really interested in Egyptology and a couple of years ago I thought it would be great to be able to write in hieroglyphs. I started to study them but soon realized it would take me a long time to be able to do this. Still, I was determined to find a way around this problem. At some point I came up with the idea of rearranging and reforming the hieroglyphs so as to resemble the English alphabet. During this process I tried as much as possible to preserve their ethos and appearance. However, since they are designed to write in English with, it's obvious that they are not always going to look like the real thing. Despite this, I'm really happy with the final result and I think many Pharaohphiles who just want to have some fun will be also. The only difference in this font between lower and upper case characters, is that the latter are set between two parallel, horizontal lines. These are for use with brackets (motif ends) to form cartouches - elongated ovals for names and/or titles. Try typing the following using the upper case in the sample text box. e.g. (JOHN} The zigzagged vertical lines at each end, separate the motifs from the hieroglyphs. Note the three types of ends/brackets. These lines are also used to separated words from one another and to give a more authentic appearance. So pressing the space bar gives a zigzagged line - not a space. They can also be used at any point within a cartouche to separate first and last names or titles. e.g. ; (JOHN;BROWN} walked straight home after work. Notice the eye glyph (period/full stop) at the end of the sentence. This is the only punctuation mark which can be used within a cartouche, e.g. after Mr. or to add a more Egyptian appearance to a name or title. e.g. (MR>;JOHN;BROWN} Parallel lines dividing hieroglyphical inscriptions and writing into rows or columns are very common. To incorporate these in a body of text, simple use the underline U. e.g. (OSIRUS) and {ISIS} were important gods of the ancient Egyptians. (HORUS) {HATHOR} and [RA],the sun god, were also highly revered deities. The punctuation marks available are shown below. . , " " ' ! ? "where is the king?" The font also includes the numbers 0-9, the following mathematical symbols and the hash sign(Scarab beetle). In nautical folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ship that can never go home and is doomed to sail the seas forever as a ghost ship. The story of the Dutchman appeared in print in the 1820s. With different versions written over the years, some date the legend to the 1640s or the early 1700s. The Flying Dutchman font is a revival of an 1876 font from MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan Co.
