Tekton font is based on the hand lettering of West Coast architect Frank Ching, who wrote out the text for his books. It is an Adobe Originals typeface designed by David Siegel in 1989. Circulaire is a set of initial caps designed by Sjoerd Hendrik de Roos in 1926, and digitized in 2009 by Hans van Maanen. As far as initials go, this set contains the extra touch of personality needed to lead into a paragraph, which is preferable to the usual swashed italics that are widely used. Glass Light was designed in 1912 by Franz Paul Glass for the Genzsch & Heyse foundry. The font is stylewise related to the "Lo types" of the same period. Glass designed a lot of decorative elements to go along with the font. I added Swashes, endletters and smallcaps to the set to make it complete. Since this type of font will probably not be used by many professionals, I did not put all the letters into one big OTF-version since most people don't have OTF-savy software. Frank H. Atkinson was a popular Art Nouveau sign painter in Chicago, Illinois. He designed signs for the Cadillac Motor Car Co., Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the department store Marshall Field. Oddly enough, he even designed signs for other sign painters. In 1908 he published a book, Sign Painting, which sold well. Here you go...a handmade sans font without much of surprise...actually, this is how I draw letters with my eyes closed...well, almost! I wanted to make a font with letters that were pretty obvious, but had that handmade look that I love so much. The result is this really painless font - it won't hurt or scare anyone, but it could help making your handmade things (such as posters, postcards, flyers, books and alike) come more alive! Anyway, I've added 3 different versions of each lowercase letter...just to add some spice to the painlessness of the font!

Squickt was the first script I designed. The name is an atrocity, I don't remember what was on my mind, when I decided on that name, but after 25 years it is to late to change, so I have to stick with it. I have recently gone over the script and changed a little stroke here, a curve there and I added Small-Caps. The font is very useful for all kinds of signs, that have to look spontaneous. Informal does not have to mean aggressively modern or casual. Helenium is inspired by some hand drawn capitals that I found added to a 19th century map. It's a great font for informal titles and headings that still keep an air or regularity and ever so slightly period elegance. It manages to be formal and casual all at once, as well as classical and modern. Helenium's range of different weights and drop shadow effects make it useful for hierarchical titles and headings. Helenium miniscule adds greater flexibility by extending the family with a fun range of rounded lower case forms.

Marit Otto about New Daily: This typeface design has a modern but yet classic appearance. That is why she listens to the name New Daily. I took some elements from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco (type) styles. And modernized it by cultivating the beautiful curved features of both styles and playing with the stylish fluid lines and open structures. By adding a bit of the no-nonsense office look of a typeface like Nimbus Sans a new but familiar look occurs. This typeface is very readable and useful for many purposes. This family was inspired by the two fonts used by the famous William Caxton in Westminster (UK) in the late 1400s. There is only one (Normal) style. We have added the accented characters and others not in use in the early time of printing, but the ligatures and the few abbreviations for the Old English language and Latin were present in the original fonts. The original cap height is about five to seven millimeters. Decorated letters like 1495 Lombardes, 1512 Initials, 1550 Arabesques, 1565 Venetian, and 1584 Rinceau can be used in complement with this font without anachronism.

The inspiration for Jeeves came from Leslie Carbarga's wonderful book LETTERHEADS, One Hundred Years of Great Design, 1850-1950. It was based on a secondary type usage for the letterhead for Sutherland in New York. The rest of the letterhead had features that were more typical of the Art Deco period, but this script added a touch of timeless elegance. And since at the time I was reading every scrap of P.G.
