Most of the shapes in TessieSpinners suggest a spinning motion. Most do not resemble real world objects. The TessieSpinners fonts contain shapes that can be used to construct tessellation patterns. Nagel is a contemporary uniwidth display sans serif for headlines and short texts. It’s a closed low-contrast typeface with an emphasis on stroke joints. The length of the line set in Nagel remains the same in all weights. Nagel has all the advantages of monospaced typeface graphics, but none of their functional disadvantages. Characters in Nagel are made monospace-like wide, as opposed to traditionally narrow characters of proportional fonts, and often have slab serifs. If there was an American Typeface Hall of Fame, Bank Gothic, designed by the great Morris Fuller Benton would hold a place of special distinction considering this design has survived so many trends in typographic fashion since being introduced in 1930. Synthica is the advanced version of a geometrically constructed typeface – designed for a thesis project in summer 2010 in Pforzheim. In the context of electronic music and the profound analysis of its parameters, this typeface is primarly based on a strict modular grid. Additionally, the ascender, descender and the x height had slightly been increased in order to even out a visual difference in size between the glyphs. The name „Synthica“ dervives from a basic principle in electronic sound synthesis. Sinus, triangle and square are some of the basic waveforms in the synthesizers’ oscillator section and were thus used as geometric modules for the grid. The modularity and geometry also derive from different structures of electronic music. The strong emphasis on diagonal lines creates a rhythmic typeface that connotates electronic music patterns with highly recognisable glyphs. The contrast between digital and analog is another basic idea of this typeface: while Synthica Outline has a more synthetic and fragile character, the filled version Synthica Black serves as the analog counterpart.

Makiritare is a display font for headlines that originates from a research work on pure geometry of great simplicity from a Venezuelan ethnicity artisanal form from men called Makiritare or Yecuana. These rivers sailors and architects of the jungle live in the village of Santa Maria de Erebato on the border with Brazil. Despite having a prodigious symbolism in their art, they didn't have until recently a font that is tailored to your expression. It all started with a trip to the Amazon in 1976 with the notion of creating my thesis as a graphic design student. In 1992 I created the first letterform that was evolving to a more elaborate version being presented and selected at the International Typography Biennial Letras Latinas in 2006. Today JMTF presents Makiritare with a more complete and mature family of three weights, alternative characters, small caps, ordinals and ligatures. Makiritare fits any application that have an innovative and modernist purposes. Recommended for titles or short phrases, with striking large-scale use.

This year we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first sans-serif typeface. and what better way to celebrate, than to design our own sans-serif! Brother 1816 is a very flexible, multifaceted and solid typeface, mixing Geometric shapes with Humanistic strokes at the same time. DIGOT is a pixel-style, grid-based, geometric, display typeface. The idea for this font was born while combining lettering and illustrations in a geometric and pixel art style. What was needed was a font built with attention to detail for an interesting and unconventional creation of text and geometric images. The font is designed so that its modules lie on a grid and have their own rhythm and geometric order. So that it gives great editing possibilities and allows you to maintain a unique look. Optimal kerning is important here. The spacing between and within characters is well thought and designed to respect these rules (e.g. full pixel increments). The Akko typeface family is the first new design from Akira Kobayashi in a very long time - and it is well worth the wait. Picture an industrial strength typeface like the Isonorm™ design. If there was an American Typeface Hall of Fame, Bank Gothic, designed by the great Morris Fuller Benton would hold a place of special distinction considering this design has survived so many trends in typographic fashion since being introduced in 1930. Its just as desirable today as it was over eighty years ago; arguably more. Today, Bank Gothic is a very popular choice as a titling face for science fiction books, posters and countless television and movie titles. It is also a popular typeface for use in computer games and digital graphics. GroupType’s 2010 revival of this American classic is true to the design, the period, and Benton’s aesthetic. GroupType worked with some of the most talented and experienced type designers that were historically grounded and sensitive to this design project. Fortunately, Mr. Benton has left us a large selection of other great typefaces for insight and guidance. GroupType’s new revival includes the original three weights in regular and condensed style plus two new distressed fonts. All have a new small cap and lowercase in each font necessary for 21st century typography.

Yes Dear is a hopefully humorous acknowledgement that men and women communicate differently — one of those Mars-Venus things. Women tend to talk about their feelings. Men hide in the cave. It sounds funny, but it can have serious consequences in people’s lives and their relationships. T. D. Jakes deals with the subject effectively in his DVD, He-Motions. We guys need to find our way out of the cave. Our women need to recognize what is going on and gently help us emerge from the cave. Men and women were certainly never meant to be identical, but it would be useful if we could learn to communicate our feelings in more healthy and effective ways. Yes Dear has a full character set, including accented caps. Two empty frames are provided at positions 135 & 137. The two great technical constraints a type designer can tackle are low resolution, which limits detail and dictates proportions between negative and positive shapes, and uniform width, which restricts each letter to a fixed horizontal space. Wrestle with both at once, and each letter becomes a black-and-white chessboard that challenges every design decision. Sometimes battling these constraints gets in the way of a good idea, but other times, tinkering with fewer options can make the job irresistibly easy and lead straight to a grid addiction. Gridlite, an experiment with a modular negative space, is the side effect of such an addiction. It’s simplified, monospaced, and variable: foreground and background alike are ready to be animated, typed, scaled up, scaled down, rounded, or otherwise deformed. Gridlite is primarily a variable font with axes that control the size of the elements, their shape, and the background (one for the rectangular field and one for the compact envelope around the letters). The fonts cover Cyrillic, Greek, and Latin scripts. Small caps are included, for no apparent reason ... and there is a monospaced elephant, too.

Geometrical drawing of Fenomen Sans typeface goes back to the roots of the Bauhaus aesthetics and the entire architectural and design avant-garde of the 20th century.
