Habana Deco ML was inspired by a hand-lettered sign on the stucco exterior of a small pharmacy in modern-day city of Havana, Cuba. It, in turn, was based on the fat-faced Art Deco lettering of the late 20s and early 30s, especially the Futurismo posters out of Italy, as well as alphabets designed in The Netherlands, France, USA and even the Soviet Union. Tangram is the famous Chinese puzzle, perhaps one of the oldest games in the world. It consists of seven pieces called Tans obtained from a square cut up in a certain way. These seven Tans (5 different-sized triangles, a square and a parallelogram) have to be used to form the figures. The Tangram collection represents 1772 different shapes spread in 15 fonts. Each font exists in 2 styles: plain & inline.

Boo Boo Kitty is a blocky font with a halftone style gradient texture. One of the big inspirations for this font was retro comic printing so I tried to keep the background slightly messy to capture that look. It was originally released in 1997 as an all-caps font with mixed plain and textured characters but was recently updated it to include lowercase letters and full versions of both background options.

GarciaToons is a dingbats type family integrated by 3 styles: GarciaToons Bunny, GarciaToons Cat, and GarciaToons Mouse. GarciaToons can be defined as a type cartoon to read some text situations at a glance. It is a contemporary type tool for seasoning texts in a way that simple words are insufficient to express. GarciaToons is about funny and fresh real-life communication needs, the ones we facing anytime anywhere in our daily writing issues. Aim: To design an easy-to-understand and user-friendly symbol type code, able to combine with –or even to replace– words in a text. Idea: To develop a comic's faces dingbats series starting from the same pattern for the whole variants. The challenge was to represent different cartoon characters with minimal design changes. Designs are framed into a straight and geometric visual structure, just as logotypes themselves are. Face expressions are inspired on the worldwide understandable cartoons aesthetic. The result combines logo sharpness with cartoons flexibility. As it's said: A picture is worth more than a thousand words.

Introducing PRONK. By Wearecolt. This is a tall, bold and round display font designed for retro-modern designs. This font is perfect for your next logo design or magazine titles. Taking inspiration from many tall fonts and American number plates i created a display font that would be my 'go to' for a neat tall, bold font. Toews is a continuation of the work started with Versteeg, Huet, and Niemi. It combines the elements of the letterforms found in Huet and Niemi and uses the letterform outlines to create shapes that intersect with themselves. While Huet and Niemi can easily be outlined in most design programs, Toews outlining would not work smoothly in most programs, which is why an outlined version is available. The two styles are carefully designed to be able to transition from one to another smoothly within the same type field.

Myster is a truly random font — each lowercase letter has three alternatives, that interchange in the set. This makes Myster look alive, hand-crafted, painted for a special occasion, rather than a font selected from a regular type case… Of course, the mystical character of the font defines the scope of its usage — film, gaming and publishing industries. However Myster’s field of application goes beyond them. This font is able to create a desired atmosphere in packaging, children books, magazines, as well as in advertising.

When I am working on a new font, I usually play some music, or have a song in my head. When I was working on this font, an Audioslave song called Getaway Car was playing in my head. Again: naming a font is not that difficult! Getaway Car was made with a cheap brush and expensive Chinese ink. It is an all caps font, ideally suited for posters, book covers and designs that need a bold, rough & ready look.

Happenstance came out of a play session with Bezier curves with a sense of fun built into its being. First came play, then came work. Thomas Edison once said,”Creativity is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” Nikola Tesla thought the opposite. In this case, what started as inspiration took a lot of perspiration to corral into a usable font. So maybe the reality is a) different for different people or b) somewhere in the middle. Just sayin’.

Vowels produce 'end-characters'. These are used whenever a string of symbols start or end. Consonants make 'middle-characters'. Numerals are zero-width characters. these can be used whenever you feel like it, they will float above and below the string of symbols. Puncuation adds extra spice.
