The font Wappenstein was inspired by the carving on a memorial stone located in Paderborn, Germany. The stone was an Epitaph of the Brenkener family, and the carver is known as the “Meister des Brenkener Familienepitaphs”. The carving, dating to 1562, currently is curated by the Erzbischöfliches Diözesanmuseum in the city of Paderborn and was originally in the Brenkener Pfarr Kirche. A Wappenstein is a stone that contains a carving of the heraldic achievement of a person.

OK Corral is a revival of a very old Italian font that you may have seen in the past under the original name of Italian Print. The Lined version of this font has never been known to have a lower case set of letters until now.

Relato has a low contrast and “a muscular” structure that makes it useful for setting longer text. In display sizes it has a variety of details that lends it a unique and personal expression. The formal principle of the serif, the variety of terminal strokes and the combination of curves and semi-straight lines gives the Relato a more “human” flavor. The inspiration for the design comes from different traditional calligraphic styles. The upper case letter, for example, is based on roman capitals from the Rennaissance, whereas the lower case relates to humanist handwriting. Even so, Relato is a decidedly contemporary typeface, proposing individual ideas on the design of type. The italic has a distinct typographic color thanks to the construction principle of broken lines. The bold weights have an increased contrast in the union of the strokes which helps improve legibility in small sizes and reinforce their personality in display sizes. Pargrid is a grid-based typographic experiment from the young Swiss designer Michael Parson. In the Pargrid family, which contains three separate weights, Parson has created an intriguing system of small circles-similar to LED's or light bulbs-that live separately on a grid, creating unique letterforms. In the year 1528 Pierre Attaignant led a revolution in music printing. His method of once-press moveable type, greatly simplifying the original 3 impression process developed by Petrucci, remained in use till near the end of the 17th century. The method could only realize one line of music per staff, and the introduction of barlines as a common means of aligning multiple staves brought this method to a close after nearly two centuries of use. This font is meant to allow the printing of music using that method with the notation of that era. It is largely based on an exemplar printed by Snodham of London.

We designed Mrs White for our next book for children. We needed a clean script that would give a feeling of a primary school handwriting. Mrs White is filled with ligatures and contextual alternates which gives her very smooth line of text. Scripts shouldn't be used without lowercase letters so we added a small caps for headlines and acronyms. Check out the manual for more information on how to use Mrs White. Polish language use latin characters but we would like our Eastern neighbors to be able to enjoy Mrs White so we added cyrillic alphabet (script and caps).

Decorative font Shaltai was developed by young Russian designer Katya Galuyan. The letters slightly resemble rolling, falling and broken eggs. Egg-shaped appearance of the characters determines the name of the font. Shaltai Boltai is a Russian cousin of English Humpty Dumpty, French Boule Boule and Swedish-Norwegian Lille Trille. The font can be used for advertising and display works, children books and so on. Released by ParaType in 2008.

Linoscript was designed in 1905 by Morris Fuller Benton and displays the strong stroke contrasts of broken letter and the flowing quality of handwriting fonts of the 17th and 18th centuries. The font suggests a school book typeface common at the turn of the 20th century. Linoscript is suited for middle length texts and headlines, while its capitals can also be used as initials mixed with other alphabets.

The font Eckmann is named after its designer, Otto Eckmann, and appeared with the Klingspor font foundry in 1900. The influence of the Jugendstil is clear to see in the flowing floral contours of the letters. Diamond Jim JNL was inspired [in part] by an image of a 1970s Letraset® dry transfer typeface made entirely of small stars. By creating his own layout using tiny diamond shapes, Jeff Levine has produced a font that takes on multiple appearances. At 24 point it resembles dot matrix printing; at 48 point the diamonds are clearly visible; and overall, the design has a distinctive 70s retro feel. Limited character set.

With the intention to create a family of modern calligraphy, Vild Scapes offers different feels in different effects. The Normal option cuts back the imperfections created from freehand writing, while Inkless keeps those details. There’s also the Rust option, which imitates letterpress printing effects. Antique Tuscan No.9 was one of the earlier wood-type designs by William Hamilton Page. It was first shown among the specimens produced in 1859, shortly after Page entered into a new partnership with Samuel Mowry, owner of the Mowry Axle Company. The new company was named Page and Company and was located at the Mowry facility in the Greenville section of Norwich, Connecticut. Antique Tuscan No.9 is an extra-condensed version of the tuscan style that had been released in moveable type by Vincent Figgins of London in 1817 and had become so popular for advertising in the intervening years. Because of the extreme compression in the design, we might be tempted to describe it as "Triple-X," but that might be misleading. The analogy would, of course, be to clothing sizes, not movie ratings. Because of the compression, this typeface reads best when set extra-extra-extra large. For printing, we recommend 36 points or larger. For the screen, we suggest at least 72 points. An unusual and distinctive design, it is best used with discretion. If I were doing a term paper for school or submitting an article to a magazine for publication, I might use it for the title page, to grab someone’s attention. I would certainly not use it for the main body of text - not if I expected anyone to read what I wrote. If you wonder why we make this recommendation, take the Ten-Point challenge. Print this paragraph using Antique Tuscan No.9 and set the font size at 10 points. If you are young and blessed with good eyesight, you will probably be able to read it - with effort. So, here is the challenge: hand it to your Grandmother and ask HER to read it.

Impresssionable JNL is a font created from samples printed from a vintage rubber stamp toy set. This is a limited character design without spacing or kerning in order to preserve the hand-made look of inkpad printing on paper. A few extra punctuation glyphs, a percent sign and Euro were added to the original characters. At smaller sizes (72 point or less), the letters resemble the imprints of the stamps, but at higher sizes, they take on a different look of deconstructed lettering.

Font designed from this who was used by an unknown printer in Lyon (France) to print the “Conte de Griseldis ” (Griseldis' tale), from Petrarque, inspired by Boccace, in 1495. The original font has a relatively small number of special characters and ligature, for the time. This font includes “long s”, naturally, as typicaly medieval but numerous letters - as accented ones - were added for this version. A render sheet, enclosed with the file, helps to identify them on keyboard. It is used variously in web-site titles, posters and fliers design, editing ancient texts or greeting cards as a very decorative and fine font... This font works at a small size like 9, remaining clear and easy to read on screen, but always better when printed.

This family was inspired by the pure Jenson set of fonts used in Venice to print De preparatio evangelica in the year 1470. The present font contains all of the specific latin abbreviations and ligatures used in the original. Added are the accented characters and a few others not in use in this early period of printing, also small caps, these, contained in a separate file in the Mac TT version. This font supports strong enlargements as easily than small size remaining very smart, elegant and fine. Decorated letters like 1512 Initials, 1550 Arabesques, 1565 Venetian 1584 Rinceau or other fonts from GLC Foundry, can be used with this family without anachronism. If Italic style is required, we recommend the use of 1557 Italique.
