Where the heck does a name like Chaloops come from? You know that Chihuahua that used to sell the tacos? Chank's mother-in-law calls him Chalupa. And the American pluralization for that must be Chaloops, because that's her nickname for her two little spoiled fuzzball dogs. Another comic variation on Chank's whimsical handwriting, Chaloops is bouncy, quirky, and light-hearted like the Chauncy fonts. But Chaloops has more squiggles and its stroke terminals are mostly square. Just like you. Journal type family is a low-contrast text face of the Ionic-Legibility group. It was designed at the Polygraphmash Type Design Bureau in 3 styles in 1951–53 by Lev Malanov and Elena Tsaregorodtseva. The fonts were based on Cyrillic version of Excelsior that was developed in 1936 in Moscow by professor Michael Shchelkunov, Nikolay Kudryashev et al., that in its turn was based on Excelcior by Chauncey H. Griffith, 1931, Mergenthaler Linotype. Digital version was developed in ParaGraph (ParaType) in 1991. In 2012–13 designer Natalia Vasilyeva made some corrections in original digital data, extended character set and add bold italic style. The family was rereleased in ParaType in 2013.

The design process of this font was rudely interrupted on August 11th, 2015, when my first child, Hazel, was born. Thinking up names for fonts can be tricky, as can thinking up names for babies, so when the font was finally finished, it seemed like a good idea to kill two birds with one stone, and here it is: Hazel Script. Hazel Script is a finely crafted, elegant, connecting script. I wanted to make something unique, and to this end, the contrast in the face is not based on any ductal logic, or the writing of some imagined tool. The thick parts of glyphs are purely aesthetic devices, placed to give the otherwise monoline font an interesting rhythm. The over-sized upper case letters follow a mid-century lettering skeleton, and swash forms can be used judiciously to add spice to the text. Hazel Script works "out of the box" but to really get the best out of it, use OpenType-savvy programs to unlock a world of swashes, alternates, ligatures and the like. In detail, the features are as follows: Swash - alternate forms for many glyphs Stylistic Sets - 1: script r, 2: alternate s, 3: script z, 4 and 5: more swash options, 4,5,6 and 7: access to alternate ampersands (the font boasts six to choose from!), 8: connecting forms for K, L, R, X and Z. Localised forms - ij digraphs for Dutch, and a script lslash for Polish. I've always been in love with fat didones. That’s the reason of Posh. In search of something unique, I started this family back in 2013 with the aim of creating the fattest yet readable bodonian typeface in the market: It was a challenge, because roman fonts need generous counters (or what some call white spaces) and taking them to the extreme of inexistence attempted against the construction of many glyphs. Ears, dots, terminals and serifs always need some extra space so I had to find the exact point of boldness to make characters which have those attributes work well in the middle of those which haven't. (1) After a while, I felt I was again ‘in my element’: Big contrasted letters, sexy and elegant curves, and that Lubalinesque feeling that characterise my fonts. (2) Words written with Posh are a explosion of elegance and sensuality due to the fact that its didone attributes were exaggerated. Since it’s full of alternate glyphs, one can change and choose them until a nice block of ‘‘black’’ is achieved. (3) To accompany the regular style, I designed Posh Inline, a font with the same quantity of glyphs than the regular one; an all caps style called Posh Capitals, and also a really playful Italic version. I hope you find this one delicious like I do! This font is dedicated to all who understand letters are not just meant to be read, but also to be appreciated in group and individually. Enjoy it. NOTES (1) In example, it can be easy to design a fat letter ‘n’ with almost no counter, but really tough to make a satisfactory letter ‘s’ with serifs to match that ‘n’. Ten years ago, I introduced a package of Ruqah fonts, with the most prominent being Ruqah Light, Ruqah Regular, and Ruqah Bold. Today, I am thrilled to announce the renewal of these 3 fonts, with improved design and more beautiful lettering. My goal is to eventually create a computerized Ruqah font that closely mimics handwriting. Mezalia Sans is a logical continuation of the Mezalia family. Its shapes are based on medieval calligraphic style: the Bastarda. This time the evolution is taken a step further, as these classic shapes are merged with the straightforwardness of a modern sans-serif. This results in an original, strong yet very much usable typeface, that can hold its own in a wide range of applications. Mezalia Sans has two distinct styles: straight and cursive (true italic if you will, although the word is not really correct here), which come in ten weights, from thin to black. This wide range ensures that whether you are looking for delicate or bold strokes (or a combination of both) you will be satisfied. Every style also contains a set of small caps (with matching punctuation). Old-style, proportional and tabular numerals are included too, along with ligatures, symbols and language support in Adobe Latin 3 range.

The Wild West meets Russia and India in this heavy duty display face. Although it's uppercase only, most of the characters vary between the uppercase and lowercase alphabets, so it's easy to give your text a hand-made feel by mixing up your cases. OpenType savvy applications can really exploit the extra features of this font. Engage contextual alternates, and G, C, L and alternate form of E will change when placed before a letter with a crossbar to create some cool effects (see the CK and LE combinations in the poster). There are standard ligatures for ff and FF combinations, and discretionary ligatures for 'and', 'the', 'No', 'Mc' and 'Co'. Engage stylistic alternates for a reversed 3 version of E, and the obligatory backwards R for that faux-Russian effect. Also included in the font is a host of ornaments. This font is perfect for wanted posters, heavy metal band logos, Communist propaganda leaflets and no doubt a load of other things too.

Gladly is based on an earlier Scholtz Font - Margaux, which appeared as a simple oblique font. Gladly has grown from the original, into a multi-styled, comprehensive typeface with 17 styles in all. The source of inspiration for MFC Heathcliff Monogram is a crudely hand drawn vintage monogram transfer depicting a wider format diamond monogram. We revised numerous letters for better clarity and a more vintage industrial vibe. MFC Heathcliff Monogram is capable of traditional two and three letter format monograms, as well as gapped and hugging framing options for each.
