There really is no nonsense in this font - but the name comes from my original sketches, where I drew a lot of nonsense! Actually, I couldn't figure out what letters to use from the sketches, so I picked them all!!! That's why each letter has 10 different versions! And what is cool is that they automatically cycles as you type. All you have to do is turn on Contextual Alternates, and the rest is magic!

I've always admired the work of Rudolph Koch. Culpepper is what I think Neuland would have looked like if it had been developed with lowercase, small caps and a range of weights. I started work on this series in the late 80’s and, like so many of my ideas, it was shelved when life drew me in another direction. Comic books based on popular characters have been around pretty much since the advent of comic books themselves. An edition of the "Car 54 Where Are You?" series published by Dell (and based on the hit TV show created by Nat Hiken) displayed "Car 54" in a bold hand lettered stencil design on the cover. I seem to be in my comic book font fase. It's not that I have tons of comics lying around (I actually have none), but when I was a kid, I used to read them all the time. Laser Eyes is a handmade comic book font. It is a little rounded, a little fat and very useful. You don't really have to put it to work in an actual comic book; it will feel at home just about anywhere. Pseudo-Hellenic is a font based the Greek typeface of Firmin Didot. The original Greek typeface became standard during the Victorian era and remained popular until the last part of the twentieth century. Pseudo-Hellenic seeks to create an environment reminicent of the many Greek texts and is meant to re-create their ethos while communicating with a non-Greek speaking audience. Pseudo-Hellenic with full punctuation, a character 221 glyph character set that allows the user to type in most Western European Latin alphabet languages. Being a decorative font, it works best at larger point sizes.

Originally drawn in 1999 as a college project with the ambition to make the ‘most beautiful’ alphabet in the world. After these heroic beginnings Spaghetti lay dormant in the VLNL vaults for many years, appearing to silently peter away. Now look at it! Ten years hence, it is finally being served up in glorious OpenType, precisely al dente. As automated special sauce, each lowercase character before or after a space receives a nice little ball ending to round things off. And finally, the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is like a tasty bunch of ligatures – enough to make your mouth water.

Some time ago, my son asked me to name all Seven Seas. I had to think for a bit, because I can think of more than 7 seas (the North Sea, the Caspian Sea, the South China Sea, the Sea Of Okhotsk, etc.), but apparently these are not part of the BIG Seven. It turns out that even oceans count as ‘seas’. Long story short, I created a font, had to think of my son’s question and named the font Seven Seas. Seven Seas is a hand made serif that comes with swashed alternatives for a lot of glyphs.

While helping produce a trade magazine years ago, I admired the hand-lettering of the art director -- a woman named Marydale -- and suggested she let me model a font after her penmanship. She agreed and drew out the alphabet, and I launched an old copy of Fontographer and (to shorten a long story) ended up developing my very first digital typeface. Which has since, astonishingly, become famous worldwide. So now the real Marydale gets the mixed blessing of seeing her handwriting (and name) plastered all over the planet. Greene and Hollins of Wolverhampton were a rather smart gentleman’s outfitter, much frequented by my late grandfather and altogether redolent (in memory and actuality) of a bygone age of retail service and respect. I believe they’re out of business now, but we’re rather pleased to offer them this very small if rather random memorial. Greene and Hollins is a set of seven display typefaces, with uniform metrics, which can be overlaid to create multi-coloured ‘engraved’ effects. Also ideal to recreate traditional sign-writing, garment labels, signage and anything else where a period flare is required.

Roadway is based on U.S. highway lettering observed on New York street signs. Two weights of capitals would often be used on the same sign, condensed for the main name, and a half-size regular superscript for ‘road’ or ’street’. Roadway is a Small Caps font. The upper case consists of condensed capitals, the lower case consists of regular width small caps, sized at 50% and superscript. A small superscript comma and period, aligned with the lowercase, are at keystrokes < and > respectively. A small hyphen lining with the superscript lowercase is at the en dash position (Mac: option hyphen, Windows: alt-0150).

The inspiration for this font came from a wall-writing in Cuba. At first glance we thought: "There is something wrong with the wall-writing." But a closer look revealed, that it just mixed up different stroke-styles. That "feature" became the designing principle behind CA Segundo: Round characters like O, U or C are available either with a fat or a thin stroke, whereas other characters with orthogonal lines come in two different styles – uppercase characters emphasize the vertical strokes, while lower cases emphasize the horizontal strokes. This gives you the opportunity to design just while you type.

Morning News is the sister font of Evening News which I designed some years ago for use with my local newspaper Abendzeitung. Morning News is an adaption, a little bit rounder, which gives the font a much softer touch. The general design dates back to the pre-Hitler era, the time when Germany had already lost the first World War and was taking a short deadly breath to start the second big war. Lets hope there will be a day when there will never be another war in Europe (or elsewhere!). Another new peaceful font by your pacifistic designer, Gert Wiescher.

Alien UFO is a particular display font born from the fusion between raptor claws and an alien appearance. Wade Sans Light was designed by Paul Hickson and Key Characters and appeared in the ITC library in 1990. The basic forms of the font are those of a constructed sans serif, as seen in the circular O and triangular A. The low x-height of the lower case letters make this font particularly reserved and graceful and the high ascenders give it a certain elegance. The high, wide capitals need a lot of space and dominate the overall look of this font. Wade Sans Light is reminiscent of the elegant cabarets of the 1920s and 30s.
