Prismatiq JNL was modeled from lettering found in a French alphabet book from the turn of the last century - the type sample appearing online at an image sharing site. All of the imperfections of hand-lettering were left intact. This is a limited character set comprising A-Z, 1-0, basic punctuation, forward slash and dollar and cents signs, and is best used in large headline applications.

HGB Info is a display typeface for my Linotype Nautilus Monoline. This came about while working on the corporate design for the municipality of Weissach im Tal. Shorter ascenders and descenders and a broader letter shape result in more compact word images. The ups and downs are cut vertically. This works particularly well in large degrees. This is the area of ​​application on signage and information systems.

HS Decomage was created by a desire for a more modern approach and as an homage to the Art Deco period. HS Decomage has a large set of ligatures to make optimum spacing easier to accomplish and stylistic alternatives give design choices. LP Horizont Caps is another new font creation from German designer Peter Langpeter (lp-design.de). LP has been running his own design studio since 1995, working as a typeface and logo designer, as a calligrapher, cartographer and illustrator. Carilliantine updates the organic curves of Art Nouveau typefaces typified by John F. Cumming's Desdemona, designed around 1886. A contemporary monoline sans reinterpretation rather than a more traditional serif, its high-waisted emphasis lends it an elegance and class. Carilliantine is replete with hundreds of two- and three-letter ligatures that bring a customised uniqueness to any headline. Margon is a serif font family with a temperate design -- small serifs, moderate contrast, tiny roundings on the corners make it calm and serene. The Margon font family consists of 18 members divided into 4 groups of different proportions marked by indexes 360, 380, 400, 430. These values correspond to densities of sets -- 360 is the widest style, 430 is the most narrow one. The peculiarity of Margon family is a rather small difference in proportions of characters between neighbor groups, it’s less than 10%. Such tiny step gives possibility to select the font that gives the best result in combination of capacity and readability. Margon can be used in book, magazine and newspaper design.

This is not an historically accurate font but rather one intended capture the spirit of ancient Roman manual type. It was inspired by various patterns used in documents and books created by Latin scribes between the second and fourth centuries. They used either calamus and ink on papyrus, or a pointed metal stick on wax tablets. We have created the font for contemporary use; distinguishing between U and V, I and J, which had no meaning for ancient Latin scribes, and adding thorn, Oslash, Lslash, W, Y and common accented characters that did not exist at the time. Valet is deco moderne the way it was meant to be: Big, bold, classy, flashy, and clean at the seams. Its message is rich, strong, confident and reliable. 🏆 Selected for Tipos Latinos 9. Bork is a display typeface that was inspired by an exercise in blackletter calligraphy. The style’s characteristic dark texture is seen mainly in the lowercase, with uniform spacing (where counterspace equals letterspace), shapes that recall the straight, interrupted strokes used in that style of writing, and the peculiar construction of certain letters. On the other hand, the uppercase aims for a more conventional roman construction, making it more legible for modern-day readers. It features an extensive character set that includes contextual and stylistic alternates, superior/inferior figures, arbitrary fractions, as well as several unusual ornaments, symbols and punctuation. Bork is especially suited for use in book covers, headlines, packaging and logotypes.

One day my kids asked me: ‘would you rather be healthy and poor or super rich and sick?’ Without a doubt I answered: ‘healthy and poor’. Having money is nice, but it is not what life is about. At least, that is what I believe. Radical Fortune is a font I made after a period in my life that could have ended with a really nice sum of money in my hands - but which I didn’t take. I had to give up too much of myself and that just didn’t feel right. I made Radical Fortune to keep me from thinking too much - and, symbolically, I used a really old and cheap marker pen to draw out the glyphs!

Crisis is a child of the dictatorship of economics. Since time is money the time budget of its production has been rigidly limited. Crisis was designed and generated completely on one single day. The target was to make a useful font while investing nothing more than absolutely indispensable. The component-based glyph construction scheme of another font has been utilized, further detailing work has been strictly limited. Due to those restrictions some letters have rather unusual shapes. This straightforward and contemporary sans (320 glyphs) is of compact proportions and very legible even when set in small sizes. In printing you get more text on one page and thus save up to 30% of paper.

Brillo Typeface stems from the effort of combining the modern look of a grotesque sans serif font with the elegance of the calligraphic copperplate's swashes. The result is a typeface that is perfectly suitable for modern graphic applications, such as publishing, branding and web, but which has some ornamental features that differentiate it from all the other grotesque families. Brillo doesn't want to be a neutral typeface. It's a font with a strong personality, which can give outstanding aesthetic and conceptual relevance to the graphic projects which will be used in. Brillo is a typeface thought for titling rather than for texts. For this reason it works better with character sizes bigger than 16 points.

Stencil Round Ends, is just that, a stencil typeface with rounded terminations to each line rather than the squared terminations found in your typical stencil font. This design was developed while designing a typeface for engraving. The end mill tools used to engrave a font are round, thus the lines will all end with a rounded edge. While designing the engraving font I also designed this font to make sure that the single line version will have the desired aesthetic. Unlike many stencil fonts that have a limited range of glyphs I made this to contain the majority of letters, accents, ligatures, and mathematic symbols commonly used in most latin based languages.

Acklebury is a chunky, reverse contrast, slab-serif typeface available in two styles. It has heaps of personality, plenty of open type features, and a whole host of special characters and dingbats. Although it's drawn from historical sources, Acklebury is not a straight revival, rather more of an homage to the many, varied, extended lining figures of the late 1800's. Acklebury celebrates the once labelled 'hideous' combination of wide rounded forms and hard slab serifs. Only using modern type technology to fix the spacing and kerning issues that would of been impossible with metal or wooden type. Acklebury is not a French Clarendon, neither is it really an Italienne... but it is phat, wide and hella funky.

Realtime Stencil is part of the Realtime type family which draws inspiration from information displays. Mellnik is a sans serif of humanist style (in a way) that was developed by Oleg Karpinsky and released by ParaType in 2006. The type family contains 9 styles with a number of alternate characters in each ones. For use as a text font in long text passages of advertising booklets, catalogues or magazines, as well as for accident setting. Mellnik may be also applied as a corporate typeface. Giant ink traps (or something like that) produce an original image of the family. Five condensed styles were added in 2007 by the same designer. Mellnik Text in 12 styles (added in 2008) has more narrow proportions and it is rather appropriate for text setting.

Ferryman is a Blackletter typeface for the contemporary reader. Unfamiliar Blackletter characters have been replaced with adapted common Latin characters (Antiqua) or with letters from other historical scripts that are more legible to a modern audience. Ferryman is the antidote to the overused geometric and neogrotesk styles. An expressive display typeface with a strong character, it is perfectly suited for counterculture projects and progressive concepts e.g. in visual art, indie music, and alternative lifestyles. With nine weights and corresponding italics Ferryman offers a wide range of creative possibilities. Each style offers 590 glyphs supporting all Western-, Eastern- and Central-European languages and comes with four sets of numbers and various currency symbols.

Aeronic is a work of love. I stumbled upon a fantastic Japanese poster for Nikke Coat by Gihachiro Okuyama (1907 - 1981). Gihachiro Okuyama (also: Okayama) was a very prolific Japanese print artist who started his career making woodblock prints, but later moved on to posters and advertisements. I tried to recreate the hand lettering in the original 1937 Nikke Coat poster, but since I had to work with a few glyphs only, I designed the remaining ones myself. The outline of Aeronic is rather thin, with thicker bits in some glyphs. It is quite rough in places, but it all adds to its unique look. Aeronic comes with a bonanza of diacritics.
