London Court is a family of three 'Tudor Revival' display faces, inspired by an inscription seen underneath a clock in a splendid Tudor revival arcade in Perth, Western Australia. The resulting typeface designs are similarly 'Tudor Revival' or if you prefer 'Tudorbethan'- Roman with Blackletter details. Ideal for creating headings and posters which have an 'Olde-Worlde' feel with modern legibility.

It began as a series of photographs of the rusty metal brand names on old tractors in a museum. When I scanned the photos and began to trace the letters, I found the rust and deterioration created a level of detail which gave my letters a psychotic anger which, as an art director in an advertising agency, I closely identified with.

As such, it is a condensed design necessary to enable a lot of text to be fitted with a restricted space. Scorpio has both style and verve. It was designed to attract the attention of potential purchasers browsing the shelfs in bookshops. In fulfilling this rôle, it succeeded admirably. In all these respects, it is unquestionably a unique Michael Harvey design. When Michael died in 2013, this font existed as a drawing of the basic upper and lower case letterforms plus numerals. Andy Benedek’s contribution to Scorpio was to digitise the existing letterforms and then create the remaining characters necessary for a modern font.
