From the cover of the 1932 sheet music for “A Great Big Bunch of You” comes a hand-lettered Art Deco type design; boldly hand lettered with contrasting angled lines and varying character widths. Deco Romance JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Designed at ParaType in 1992 by Vladimir Yefimov. Based on Kudryashevskaya Encyclopedicheskaya of Polygraphmash, 1960-74, a typeface by Nikolai Kudryashev and Zinaida Maslennikova. A very lightweight style with neutral letterforms, it is quite space-saving. Excellent for long texts, headings and display typography.

An ad in the May 3, 1928 issue of “The Film Daily” for the movie “Drums of Love” featured extra bold, sans serif hand lettering in an Art Deco style. This is now available as Drum Rhythm JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

The cover of a 1932 edition of “Sunset magazine” (a publication for homeowners living in the west and southwest area of the United States) featured a lovely Art Deco serif alphabet that is now available as Western Suburbs JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Designed for ParaType (ParaGraph) in 1989 by Elvira Slysh. Based on Slogan of Ludwig & Mayer type foundry, 1959, by Helmut Matheis. An informal flowing script simulating pointed brush calligraphy. A style of medium weight and coherent lowercase. For use in advertising and display typography.

The digital outline fonts, DIN 1451 Fette Engschrift and Fette Mittelschrift were created by URW in 1984 and are the basis for all DIN font families. Both typefaces were designed for the URW SIGNUS system and were mainly used for the production of traffic signs. They have since become so popular in other areas that we have developed a complete DIN font family with 48 styles in OpenType Pro: URW DIN. It is semi-condensed, which is unique among the DIN fonts, so it has a broad spectrum of typographic uses. Its large x-height makes it perfect for use in e-publishing (web, apps, e-Books etc) and its adjusted stroke width between the regular and bold weights enhances its quality and distinguishability in print.

One of the odder things I remember from high school (50+ years ago) is the tile floor of hexagons in the bathroom. There is something fascinating with the way hexagons fill the plane. BakerHalfDozen is made of white letters that fit on black, hexagonal tiles. BakerHalfWhite switches the letters to black on white tiles, and BakerHalfBare eliminates the tiles. There are no true lower-case letters, but some letters have alternate shapes. To make the tiles line up right, alternate lines must be indented half a space. Use the {} characters (brackets) to do this.

Abdo Salem is the second version of the font FS_Salem which was designed by the type designer Abdulsamie Rajab Salem for Future Soft company fonts. It is a leading company in Arabization field and producing the Arabic and Islamic programs beside the children programs. This font appeared between 1998 and 2000. In this version there were a lot of adjustments to keep the font in its spirit and uniformity between the various characters. Also added some new characters, which gave him another beautiful addition to be used in both title and text designs. Three weights (Light, bold and black) have been created. Then the font was converted to OpenType to support Arabic, Persian and Urdu to be compatible with the various operation systems and modern software. The combination of modern Kufi and Naskh styles and varying between straight and curved parts made it a beautiful typeface appropriate to the titles and text, and able to meet the desire of the user in the design of ads and modern designs of various types of audio and visual.

Bauhaus Geometric, economical, functional... FS Dillon was originally drawn for the on-screen presentation branding of Film Four, whose primary colour was red. Black type on a red background looks heavier than white, so Dillon needed two weights that would allow white and black type to be used together, looking balanced and equal. Type design is an organic process. Years after developing FS Dillon, we revisited it, redrawing elements and adding italics to maintain consistency. Olympic You don’t get a much higher confirmation of the functional fitness of a typeface than to have it selected to guide visitors around an Olympic complex. FS Dillon was selected as the font for signage at some of the key venues at the London 2012 Olympic Park, helping to get spectators, athletes and officials from all over the world to their seats and starting blocks on time.

PT Parangon™ was designed in 1986-2002 by Anatoly Kudryavtsev and licensed by ParaType. This type family belonges to Neogrotesque subclass of closed Sans Serif. Letterforms of lower case is based on the tradition of 1710 Civil type and some modern Italic types. The family has a lot of weights and styles including Extra Condensed, Condensed, Regular, Extra Light, Light, Bold, Extra Bold. For advertising and display matter. Also it can be used for texts in advertising magazines.

Once upon a time (a.ka. 1984), there was a Goth band who called themselves "Hemingway's Shotgun." As a symbol of his commitment to this band, the bass player acquired a tattoo of a shotgun on his forearm. Unfortunately, this tattoo wasn't very well drawn: the barrel was much too short, and was much thinner at one end than the other. The tattoo rather resembled a small, cordless, rechargeable hand-held vacuum cleaner. Thus, the band "Hemingway's Dustbuster" was born.

Horndon is a decorative revival of late art nouveau style typefaces. The robust, high waist forms of these letters lend a unique, early 20th Century feeling of optimism to text designed with them. The letterforms themselves have adapted a three dimensional appearance: they each sport an individual drop shadow. Horndon is an all caps typeface, which was originally designed in 1984 by Martin Wait for Letraset. A similar art nouveau typeface, Galadriel, is also available from Linotype."

Franz Fiebiger (1880 - 1932) was an Austrian painter and designer who was associated with the Vienna Secession. In 1908 he created a beautiful poster for the Kaiserjubiläums Möbel Ausstellung - a furniture exhibition during the Kaiser's Jubilee. Fiebiger Eins (meaning Fiebiger One) is based on one of the hand made typefaces gracing this poster. As I had to work with only a few glyphs, I designed the missing ones myself. Nimrod was released by Monotype in 1980. Designed for current newspaper technology, the Nimrod font family evolved as a result of extensive examination of newspaper industry needs. Nimrod retains many of the features of the traditional newspaper Ionics, but some of the fussier detailing has been replaced by the more sober forms of the old styles, such as Plantin. A highly legible font family, especially in smaller sizes, its clear unambiguous character shapes make easily readable blocks of text. Nimrod also withstands the degradation encountered in newspaper production and printing. First used for body text in the Leicester Mercury newspaper, the Nimrod font family has subsequently become a popular choice in newspapers for text and headlines.

Kashigata Stencils JNL is a collection of 52 beautiful Japanese stencil images used for decorating sugar cakes to honor deceased family members with the crest of that family. Re-drawn from images of some vintage stencils spotted at an online craft and collector's site, these wonderful designs were created during the Showa Period of Japan's history and bring the charm of the Far East to your creative projects. Attic Antique by Three Islands Press. Flipping through a friend’s old hardbound collection of John Burroughs nature essays a while back, I thought it'd be fun to try to develop a typeface with the same uneven, imperfect look to it. I picked and chose among various printed characters, enlarged them somewhat with a photocopier, then hand-rendered each. Had to custom-make some of the accents and symbols, then added a couple goofy dingbats just for the heck of it. The result: an amazingly legible serif family akin to the Century faces.

1955 Is a fresh grotesque interpretation. Any detail too historically referenced is replaced by strong geometry and idiosyncratic features. Round dots and punctuation, curved “l” foot, single storey “g” etc. all these details make 1955 a very contemporary typeface (unlike the name suggests!). With a range of weights going from Thin to Black including Italics, OpenType Features, extended character-set, tailored for print and digital, 1955 has everything to become your new go-to typeface for every project!

INTRODUCTION When I started the first Selfie back in 2014 I was aware that I was designing something innovative at some point, because at that time there were not too many, (if any) fonts which rescued so many calligraphy features being at the same time a monolinear sans. I took inspiration from the galerías’ neon signs of my home city, Buenos Aires, and incorporated the logic and ductus of the spencerian style. The result was a very versatile font with many ligatures, swashes and a friendly look. But… I wasn’t cognizant of how successful the font would become! Selfie is maybe the font of my library that I see the most when I finally go out, (type-designers tend to be their entire lives glued to a screen), when I travel, and also the font that I mostly get emails about, asking for little tweaks, new capitals, new swashes. Selfie was used by several renowned clients, became part of many ‘top fonts of the year’ lists and was published in many magazines and books about type-design. These recognitions were, at the same time, cuddles for me and my Selfie and functioned as a driving force in 2020 to start this project which I called Selfie Neue. THE FONT "Selfie for everything" Selfie Neue, because it’s totally new: All its glyphs were re-drawn, all the proportions changed for better, and the old and somehow naive forms of the first Selfie were redesigned. Selfie Neue is now a family of many members (you can choose between a Rounded or a Sharp look), from Thin to Black, and from Short to Tall (because I noticed the feel of the font changed notoriously when altering its proportions). It also includes swashy Caps, which will serve as a perfect match for the lowercase and some incredibly cute icons/dingbats (designed by the talented Melissa Cronenbold) which, as you see in the posters, make the font even more attractive and easy to use. You'll find tons of alternates per glyph. It's impossible to get tired with Selfie! Like it happened with the old Selfie, Selfie Neue Rounded was thought for a really wide range of uses. Magazines, Book-covers, digital media, restaurants, logos, clothing, etc. Hey! The font is also a VF (Variable Font)! So you can have fun with its two axes: x-height and weight, in applications that support them. Let me take a New Selfie! TECHNICAL If you plan to print Selfie Neue VF (Rounded or Sharp), please remember to convert it to outlines first. The majority of the posters above have the "contextual" alternates activated, and this makes the capitals a little smaller. I'd recommend deactivating it if you plan to use Selfie for just one word. Use the font always with the "fi" feature activated so everything ligatures properly. The slant of the font is 24,7 degrees, so if you plan to have its stems vertical, you may use Selfie with that rotation in mind. THANKS FOR READING

Duct tape is one of the most versatile adhesive materials known today. From fixing the bumper of your car that keeps falling off, to creating a sturdy wallet. From alternative wrapping to sticking a friend to the wall, Duct tape is there. And it will stay there. It will stick to anything and hold for a very darn long time too! The cloth-backed tape was invented some time during World War II, and also proved itself useful as a base material for lettering. VLNL Duct was originally designed by DBXL as a logo for temporary Amsterdam restaurant BAUT. DBXL imagined an owner taping the name on the window of his shop using Duct tape. The font was used for all communication of the restaurant. Duct is a sturdy, rough all-caps typeface that will stick to anything.

Space Armada - A Science-Fiction Font for Out of this World Designs! Space Armada is inspired by a 1980s interpretation of the future, referencing blockbuster sci-fi action movies of the period, along with the emerging video-game consoles and home computer technologies. It's nine unique fonts are designed to work together in a variety of ways, so you can layer it's different styles on top of each other to retro-futuristic effect!* Here's an example of how it works: Start by placing the Regular font on top of the Bold for a simple base outline. Add contrasting gradients to both fonts for an instant metallic or chrome effect. Take it a step further with one of the readymade Outlines for an embossed look. Every care has been taken to ensure that all fonts align perfectly when layering. Due to the variations in how different software handles text tracking, some minor tweaking may be required for pixel perfect alignment.

Decima – condensed geometric Sans Serif typeface, released back in 2009 and quite successful ever since (MyFonts Rising Star, February 2009). Decima Pro – an upgraded version of Decima, with careful refinements to glyph shapes and extension of glyph amounts, which enabled support of more Latin languages as well as support of Cyrillic. Six more alternate styles have been added to the original six styles. Typeface is released in OpenType format with some OpenType features.

Ornata B is the second of a series of old ornaments that I am trying to save from oblivion. I am not just scanning these, I am completely redesigning the ornaments from scratch, thereby eliminating imperfections. These ornaments have been first designed by the Elzevier printer family from the Netherlands. The designs date back til the 17th century and I think they just had to be saved. In my on-going quest for display fonts to be used with my books and on my book covers, I decided I need a squared sans serif. I started the build off of Fiscal, a font I designed back in 2006. I never liked the font, plus my tastes have changed. So, I opened it, made it narrower, increased the x-height, and various stuff like that. I made it much heavier—an ended up with Boxy. Then my brain slapped me and said, "Why don't you make a sorta modern version?" So, I did and decided to call that style Chic. But then I wanted a thin version also. Fiscal was always too heavy and ponderous for me. So, I made the Thin style. Finally, I felt I needed an italic of Chic. OpenType features didn't seem to work well with the family, so all I added was oldstyle figures. So, I ended up with another of my unique families—with two unmodulated fonts: Thin and Medium, and two modulated fonts: Chic and Chic Italic. But, I'm pleased with it. My hope is that you will like it also.

Core Magic is a slab-serif version of Core Circus which is a layered type family consisting of seven 3D effect layers, eight 2D effect layers and one shadow effect layer. Uppercase and lowercase letters are separated by such features that counters are opened or closed. Core Magic provides other closed counter styles such as numbers with opentype feature (Stylistic Alternatives). Using Core Magic with Core Circus could make your works more charming and special with endless combinations (at least 262,551 kinds). This family is really nice for book titles, headlines, logotypes and any artworks. Also available the rough version of this family - Core Magic Rough.
