Hogar Slab, based on the Hogar typeface, is the result of combining a script and a slab serif into a single type system. The system has a monolinear style composed of a slab serif and a script slab serif version that share similar proportions, weight interpolations and details. Hogar Slab is basically a slab serif with script gestures and a script with slab serif shapes. In order to make the system more complete, I included an italic version, which represents a transition between both main styles. When I was cutting out the shapes, my children asked me what I was doing, and when I told them, they thought it was pretty cool and started cutting out shapes from paper themselves. Pondicherry is a nice city in the South-East of India. It has changed colonial hands over time, but after the last colonial power (the French) left in 1954, it reunited with India. I have always liked the name Pondicherry. It evokes something happy and exotic and I guess I had the same feeling when I developed this font. Pondicherry font is an outlined affair with an uneven baseline and an overall 'happy' feel. It is an all caps font, but upper and lower case differ and you can use them together. This funny font was created inspired from a contract of sale for a field prepared by a French notary in the end of the year 1682 (December seventh). We have worked to transform the almost illegible original form into a contemporary usable typeface, but keeping the special "writhed" appearance. It is a "pro" font containing Western (including Celtic) Eastern and Central European, Icelandic, Baltic, and Turquish diacritics.
