At home, we don’t drink soft drinks at all. Maybe sometimes, when one of the kids has a birthday party, but we normally don’t have a stash of the stuff. We have cordial, or, as wel call it in Holland: limonadesiroop (‘Lemonade Syrup’). There you go, another font name xplained! Today Syrup was made with a marker pen and a lot of paper! Steve Jackaman and Ashley Muir. It was our initial intention to develop a suitable lowercase for Les Usherwood's 'Elston' typeface, based on a few characters from an old German typeface called Hermes Grotesque (Woellmer, Berlin). However, the new design quickly took on a life of its own, and we decided to call it ‘Creighton’. Originally released as a four font family, we have now added eight more weights and made the entire family into 'Pro' versions for good measure.

This font was inspired from the medieval Dances of Death patterns, as a modest tribute to the famous engraver Hans Holbein's Alphabet of Death. We have tried to keep the spirit of the time -- its sarcastic humor mixed with its objective and frozen realism. The font, consisting in two complete capital alphabets: Initials and caps, and a lot of separate figures added, is especially improved by strong enlargements, 72 pts and more, and has very good results when printed.

The original design was created in 1970 by the legendary American type designer Phil Martin, founder and creator of the Alphabet Innovations and TypeSpectra type collections. Basicly, Kalli Sketch is humanistic cursive drawn with pen. Inside the font you'll find a host of Opentype features, alternate characters, including a full set of alternate ampersand characters (stylistic alternates), standard ligatures that automatically connect as you type and discretionary ligatures. PT Quadrat Grotesk™ was designed for ParaType in 2001 by Vladimir Pavlikov. An expanded sans serif with square letterforms due to what the face was named. Based on the shapes of one of old Russian wooden types. Wooden types were used for placard display composition at large sizes. Their printouts retained wooden texture and traces of handling. These features are reflected in the shapes of Quadrat Grotesk. It is a good typeface for display and advertising typography.

Inspired by the 1977 anthology horror film called "Uncanny", Uncanny Cat PB captures all the awkward fun of the film's titling sequence. Feline revenge has never looked so good. This typeface was oodles of fun to flesh out, and is true to that purposefully awkward appeal that a lot of Pink Broccoli fonts are imbued with. Loaded with a collection of ligatures that combine and nest letters against each other, lending to the unique typesetting of this "uncanny" font.

Kabouter (kaːˈbɑu̯.tər) means ‘gnome’ in Dutch. I have no particular love for gnomes (even though I have a font called Garden Gnome…), but this font had a fairytale feeling to it and the name looked good. Kabouter is a happy display font. It is fun, bouncy and quirky. Use it for your book covers, toy-packaging and home made apple sauce labels. These four typefaces, Berlinette NB, Lyonette NB, Marseillette NB and Parisette NB, were designed from the same basic shape, a geometric form that avoids strict horizontals and uses more offbeat triangular shapes. Downward Fall owes its name to one of my favorite Opeth songs, called The Funeral Portrait. The song itself is an uptempo metal composition with rather dark lyrics. This peculiar combination, a mix of good and evil if you will, is what characterizes Downward Fall font: the brushwork is quick, giving the impression of speed. The undertone is darker, scarier - lots of jaggedness and decay. Downward Fall font comes with a 20.000 foot drop of diacritics.

Wine Cellar JNL is a bold, yet casual display face found on some 1930s-era sheet music entitled "Everybody Wants a Key to My Cellar". Since the subject of the song had a number of good times underneath the house, it's a fitting name for the font. The hand lettering for the original song sheet showed strong influence of the 1920s and the Art Nouveau style, and has hints of the popular metal type "Hobo" in its character shapes.
