Melodi is the result of years of working with hand made types on my designs. Every time I draw the letters and words that I need for every design piece. One day I decided to go serious and make a real type of it and “Melodi” is the result of this work. It’s a calligraphic font, built using a regular stroke, and carefully crafted to have nice joins between all the letters. It has some playful but stylish capitals that brings lot of personality to the font. It work super nice either in lowercase writing as in all-caps texts. It looks specially good on lists of words or small sentences. Melodi is a playful but very versatile font, it can be used in lots of different scenarios. From creating a logo, writing the tittles of a catalogue or use it in a poster combined with other types (it work really well as counter point of more classical types) to motion graphics animations or advertising work. It can be cute but it also can do hard work!

This font is the result of merging my architecture background and my love for typography, which inspired me to create a system of fonts based on interior architecture design, furniture design and, especially, the love I feel for my home. The system comes with a monolinear style in sans and script versions, each including 5 weights, that share similar proportions, weight interpolation and details. Hogar is basically a sans with script gestures and a script with sans shapes. In order to make the system more complete, I included an italic version, also in 5 weights, which represents a transition between both main styles. Additionally, I developed a set of monolinear dingbats including some furniture designs by well-known architects.. The family supports more than 200 Latin derived languages.

Dolphus-Mieg Monograms is a collection of monograms from a rare cross-stitch booklet from the first year of the 20th Century. This new Monograms series was entirely designed by hand, without use of auto-tracing.

Dialog is my first sans serif. I had made some attempts earlier, but they didn't satisfy me. Dialog was, on the contrary, so inspiring that I made 19 different fonts of it, the most complete typeface for several years. I usually prefer typefaces with serifs, but I don't miss them in Dialog. The name needs no explanation. Dialog was released in 1993.

The chamfered block style of lettering has been a workhorse for years. Industrialist JNL and its oblique partner were modeled from the title on a piece of sheet music from the 1940s.

This work is inspired by creatures that I have drawn for my six year old boy. The monsters can be found at chrismetcalfe.com. I wanted to take their hair/fur and translate the fun attitude to type. To be honest I think this font is used best as display type. However the fun attitude lends to many usages without structure.

The Classic Charles Rennie Mackintosh Font has been a massive seller over the years. Its use in the Hollywood motion picture "Spider Man 2", has now been emulated by the branding of the the new Fox TV series "American Horror Story". Very unusual for the horror genre, this slightly tweaked version of the classic original mirrors how the show's producers have used it.

We have created this font as a complement for the 825 Karolus. It is a set of decorated letters in the style of those used by the scribes during the early medieval era. It is inspired from a manuscript copy of "The Hobbit" (in Caroline style) that we obtained in the year 2000 as a present for our daughter’s 15th birthday.

Eckhardt Broad Sans JNL joins the growing collection of sign painter-oriented fonts named in honor of the late Al Eckhardt of Allied Signs, a good friend of Jeff Levine for many years and a talented sign lettering artist in his own right. This design is a sans serif approach to the lettering found in the Eckhardt Showcard JNL family.

The first in a series of typefaces based on the work of legendary lettering artist Alf Becker, whose works appeared in Signs of the Times magazine for almost thirty years. Originally titled "Extreme Thin Gothic", this was Becker’s 185th design for the magazine. Both versions of the font include the 1252 Latin and 1250 CE character sets (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Let's say a San Francisco punk group used letters from a theatre marquee to create a flyer in 1979 for one of their shows. Then the flyer showed up in the background of a newspaper photograph, and the photo, twenty-five years later, was enlarged and the lettering on the flyer was turned into a font. Over the years I have bought many books and music CDs in persuit of my passion for African and Latin (and especially Afro-Latin) cultures. I've noticed that a great number of these books and CDs feature either of two popular display fonts that are, in my opinion, very much overused. As an alternative, I designed Tambor. The Tambor family includes seven styles.

Originally drawn in 1999 as a college project with the ambition to make the ‘most beautiful’ alphabet in the world. After these heroic beginnings Spaghetti lay dormant in the VLNL vaults for many years, appearing to silently peter away. Now look at it! Rational TW is the typewriter addition to the Rational family. It is a monospaced font building on the same principles as its proportional, neogrotesque brother, such as maximum legibility and flexibility while combining Swiss and American gothic elements with a modern aesthetic. Due to the monospaced environment, some of its letter shapes like “r”, “m”,“f”, “i” and “w” have been slightly adapted but kept the same in appearance. This set of initial letters is an entirely original creation, inspired by French renaissance patterns used by Bordeaux printers circa 1580-1590. It contains two roman alphabets : the first of decorated letters, the second of single large capitals, all with Garamond style, and a few fleurons using the same background pattern style. Both containing Thorn, Eth, L slash and O slash. It can be used as variously as website titles, posters and flyers design, publishing texts looking like ancient ones, or greeting cards, all various sorts of presentations, as a very decorative, elegant and luxurious additional font... This font is conceived for enlargements, possibly strong ones, remaining very smart and very fine (especially decorated initials). This font may be used with all GLC Foundry blackletter fonts, but preferably with 1543 Humane Jenson, 1557 Italique, 1589 Humane Bordeaux, 1742 Civilite, 1776 Independence without any fear of anachronism.

This "Leaf" font has been swirling in my head for years - I remember my sister and I making letter formations like these when I was young. It was exciting to see the lettering look even better on paper than it did in my mind! "Leaf" surprised me by having two distinct looks: in size 24 or smaller, the look is delicate, because your eye doesn't see any space in the letters. In size 28 or larger, the eye can discern spaces, which gives a different facet to its personality. As much as I like this font when viewed on a monitor screen, it really shines when printed. The "Leaf" font is a perfect blend of quaint hand-written style mixed with crisp letter formations. This font has a very "happy" quality to it. May using it bring a little more happiness to your day!

Virginia has a proven track-record. Unashamedly geometric, starkly simple with a touch of art deco/bauhaus/rococo about her, she was the most popular headline face around, at least in my home town in the year of her release circa 1970. That was the year my five-weight design won the inaugural (and only) Lettergraphics International Alphabet design competition and shut out 5000 competitors. Alas, Lettergraphics ceased to trade from its LA studios after the mid-80s and Virginia's two-inch film fonts were left to collect dust on the cutting room floor. Until my recent decision to revive her along with some subtle tweaking, a few additional glyphs and Opentype features, supported by an abundance of kern pairs making Virginia suitable for text or the largest display type.
