HWT Artz is the newest wood type to be cut at Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum. It was designed by venerable type designer Erik Spiekermann exclusively for his own print studio (P98a in Berlin), specifically to be cut into large size wood type. The digital version is being offered to the general public with proceeds of sales to benefit the museum's ongoing operations. HWT Artz evokes bold early 20th century European poster lettering. The design itself is intended to minimize hand-finishing and thus production time with rounded corners rather than sharp interior corners that would normally have to be hand-finished. In keeping with the tradition of naming new Hamilton designs after key figures from the living history of Hamilton (and following Spiekermann's tradition of four letter font names), Artz is named after Dave Artz- Hamilton Manufacturing retiree and master type trimmer.

Introducing the Garden Collection. A new Garden Grown font family by Cultivated Mind Type. Makro is a family of extended display sans fonts with an imposing profile with six weights, ranging from Light to Black. This series is distinguished by the excessively contrasting shapes and tones of the shapes on each opening joint and adjusted open counter. This font was designed primarily for large display text that demands more space, such as on out-of-home graphics, headings, titles, or another similar application. The most recent version of Makro supports variable weight and italic axes, as well as OpenType features such as alternatives, circled numbers, etc. In addition, the family has enlarged its linguistic repertoire to incorporate Cyrillic in addition to Latin.

Exo Slab Pro is a slab serif with a technological and futuristic tone. Even though it has a very peculiar look and many distinct shapes that pop out in an headline, it also works well as whole creating a nice shade of text. For decades, the Persian-born Naghi Naghashian has been working as a graphic designer and illustrator in Germany. Arian™ is his first commercial Arabic typeface. Named after his mother, Naghi created the Arian typeface family after years of systematically analyzing the Arabic script. The Arian design is sought to fulfill the many needs and was developed for multiple languages and writing conventions. It's extremely legibilitable not only in small sizes, but also when the type is filtered or skewed. This typeface offers a fine balance between calligraphic tradition and the contemporary sans serif aesthetic now common in Latin typography.

Originally drawn in 1999 as a college project with the ambition to make the ‘most beautiful’ alphabet in the world. After these heroic beginnings Spaghetti lay dormant in the VLNL vaults for many years, appearing to silently peter away. Now look at it! Ten years hence, it is finally being served up in glorious OpenType, precisely al dente. As automated special sauce, each lowercase character before or after a space receives a nice little ball ending to round things off. And finally, the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is like a tasty bunch of ligatures – enough to make your mouth water.

Schwager is a steampunk slab serif typeface with an industrial accent in a contemporary tone. Its strong structure and male, makes it ideal for titles, headlines and brands of male lifestyle, technology and trend. Bill Rigney, an old job printer in my home town, established his shop in 1896, closed it in 1900 to take a steady job, stored the equipment in a large shed, and reopened for business upon his retirement in 1950. What a find! A bonanza of old type! We became good friends and upon his death I bought the type. Bless you Bill.
