Hela is a high contrast rounded font with interpolation twist. I have a personal saying that fits this font: So long you drive around nice lettering, until you digitize it. Hela comes from lettering of an old Czech textile company called Helana, which does not exist anymore, but the signage is still on the building. The weird thing on this font is that it does not add weight on every stem from Light to Black as usual, but rather adds more and more black stems to the light skeleton. Another nice thing about this font is that it does not include unnecessary glyphs. So there are just 10 figures - you don't have to think which one is the correct figure kind for you. My family and I recently moved to a ‘fixer upper’ farm from the 1930’s. It came with a slightly run down barn, 4000 square metres of land and a LOT of redcurrant bushes. I can’t really say that I am overly fond of them. I find them a bit too tart. As a kid, I used to smother them in sugar, but I can’t do that any longer, since I am a responsible dad… ;-) Redcurrant is a slightly wonky, slightly crazy handmade font. It can be used for book covers or post cards, but feel free to use it for whatever. Comes with cute little swashes as well.

Aceituna means ‘olive’ in Spanish. It comes from the Arabic Al-Zeitoun. I am multi-tasking today: finishing this font and thinking about what to cook for my family tonight (yes, I am the one who cooks!). We normally eat Asian food, but I was toying with the idea of serving something Mediterranean and realised we had run out of olives. So there you have it: the super simple trick of naming a new font! But enough of cooking: Aceituna font was made with a Japanese brush pen. It is a very versatile font: tall and thin, elegant and a little messy. A hint of texture and, like olives, it goes with almost anything.
