Messenger is a redux of two mid-1970s Markus Low designs: Markus Roman, an upright calligraphic face, and Ingrid, a popular typositor-era script. Through the original film faces were a couple of years apart and carried different names, they essentially had the same kind of Roman/Italic relationship two members of the same typeface family would have. The forms of both faces were reworked and updated to fit in the Ingrid mold, which is the truer-to-calligraphy one. Dereza is a grotesque typeface designed specially for display use in children’s books and magazines. Books for little ones are usually set in grotesques, and a vigorous font would make a nice addition to the main face. Playful and lively, Dereza is great for any non-grown-up design such as games and toy boxes, cookie jars and cereal packs, clothing labels and other things meant for kids. The Three Degrees had a song called 'Dirty Ol' Man'; Christina Aguilera danced around to the tune of 'Dirrrty' and my three kids leave everything that way after they have finished their meals, so I guess I really had no other option than to call this font: Dirrrty. Dirrrty is a brush font I painted in one go. It is quite dynamic, with some serious grunge in it. Dirrrty is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be interchanged. Comes with with a truly disgusting amount of diacritics.

My kids have a tin box filled with crayon and pencil leftovers: bits and pieces that have fallen or broken off, but are still good enough to use. For me it is a treasure trove, as I often find a nice bit of crayon to use for a new font. In this case, I created Leftover Crayon. Leftover Crayon is a fat, crumbling and seriously eroded crayon font. Completely hand made, completely legible and full of character. Giulia is a sweet type family consisting of 12 Fonts. It was created by Hannes von Döhren and published by HvD Fonts. Besides a fancy curly version there is a second version with a more straight architecture, still owning the same soft and friendly character. Informal and easy going at first sight and perfect for display settings, however the straight architecture of Giulia Plain also makes it nice for shorter to medium texts. There was a big climate protest in Amsterdam a couple of days ago. During Greta’s speech, a man jumped onto the stage and grabbed her microphone, because he didn’t approve of what she was saying. Some English media referred to him as ‘the stage invader’, which I really liked. Long story short: I made a ‘protest-ish’ font, using cheap black finger paint from the local store and a brush from my kids. The result is a rather unique font called Stage Invader. And yes, you can use it for your protest signs too!

This font was created when my son had some problems falling asleep: he'd cry, he wanted to sleep in a different bed, he wanted a different animal friend (he has Tij - a tiger, Meh - a sheep, Rafi - a giraffe, Moo - a cow, Woofy - a dog, Kikker - a frog). Sleepy Time font is an all caps typeface with uneven letters and a very different upper and lower case. It comes with all languages, including Cyrillic!

I loved that combination as a kid (and I even crumbled the biscuit in the juice...yuck...I wouldn't do that today!!! Anyway, here you have a legible uppercase font with a nice handmade look. EXPRESO was inspired by the extinct art and craft of urban Lettering applied to buses and other kind of cars for public service of transportation. Since the mid of last century, main cities of Colombia - as Bogotá, Medellín and others - were growing in population and brought urban area expansion with it and serious traffic problems due to the lack of political will and urban planning. The problem of urban transport in Colombia's largest cities has not yet been resolved, despite adopting some examples of mass transit system in other cities in the region. Before these actions, public transport in cities such as Bogotá was quite varied, leaving space for popular culture that survived for a couple of decades, until the massive dieback of these old buses early this decade, either by practices associated with Lettering it was displaced by some technological, some expressions of art street and city that evolved or disappeared. EXPRESO can be used mainly in titles and display texts. You have a multitude of options using combination of layers from the basics of the font family to the various textures and shades.
