To accomplish that, Garibaldi features a 20° axis, medium contrast based on translation and expansion, asymmetric serifs, and terminals related to the broad nib stroke. Garibaldi Regular was nominated for Tipos Latinos 2014. Since then, the family was expanded with more weights and matching italics, making it a solid choice for setting books, magazines and documents. Among many OpenType features, each font contains small caps, ligatures and contextual alternates, totalling more than 750 glyphs and supporting at least 80 languages.

New Kakuji is designed from the Kakuji style of characters originating during the Edo period of Japan. New Kakuji has expanded the historical character set to include the surnames from the ancient Chinese text: Hundred Family Surnames, as well as the most common surnames in Japan, in addition to many other historically and culturally significant words, going well beyond the scope of characters that were used in the Edo period. No other font has expanded the character set of the Kakuji Style to the same extent as New Kakuji. A Latin alphabet expansion inspired by the old Kakuji style has also been included for western audiences and designers. New Kakuji contains over 500 Chinese/Japanese characters along with over 200 additional Latin characters or symbols. The solid and blocky style of New Kakuji is ideal for seal designs or other branding designs and should be used at larger point sizes.

Created with the needs of branding design in mind, Jan Hendrik Weber's Unitext is a crisp, clean typeface that functions well across print and online use. This is the digitization and considerable expansion of the cheeky and enormously popular film type Eightball, one of the most widely used faces of the 1970s and 1980s. Round and happy like a bouncy ball, these are letters after a sign maker’s own heart. Seen everywhere in its film version, from bingo and pool hall parlor signs to comic books, now this computer version opens the door for the happy roundness to be used on a much larger scale by anyone who designs layouts on a computer. The original film type included a few alternates. We included them, but we added many more as well. So make sure to check out the various OpenType features in your program while using this font. Eightball is great for a variety of applications, including signage, rubber stamps, poster design, titling, cartoons, comics, and pretty much anything where happy and round fit in.

When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Flare (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included. Now, go make cool print and digital things with it.

Zena is an Arabetic typeface design with visually connected glyphs, named for designer’s younger daughter, Zena, for her twelfth birthday. Zena follows the guidelines of the Mutamathil Taqlidi type style with one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined in Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph for each Arabic letter that can connect with other letters from both sides in traditional cursive Arabic strings. Zena employs variable x-height values. It includes all required Lam-Alif ligatures and selected marks. Tatweel (or Kashida) glyph is a zero width space. Keying it before any glyph will display that glyph isolated form, if desired. Keying Tatweel before Alif Lam Lam Ha will display the Allah ligature. The Zena typeface family includes both Arabic and Arabic-Indic numerals; all required diacritic marks, in addition to Standard English keyboard punctuations and major currency symbols. Zena is available in regular and italic (slated to the left) styles.

The Wild West meets Russia and India in this heavy duty display face. Although it's uppercase only, most of the characters vary between the uppercase and lowercase alphabets, so it's easy to give your text a hand-made feel by mixing up your cases. OpenType savvy applications can really exploit the extra features of this font. Engage contextual alternates, and G, C, L and alternate form of E will change when placed before a letter with a crossbar to create some cool effects (see the CK and LE combinations in the poster). There are standard ligatures for ff and FF combinations, and discretionary ligatures for 'and', 'the', 'No', 'Mc' and 'Co'. Engage stylistic alternates for a reversed 3 version of E, and the obligatory backwards R for that faux-Russian effect. Also included in the font is a host of ornaments. This font is perfect for wanted posters, heavy metal band logos, Communist propaganda leaflets and no doubt a load of other things too.

Spiraltwists is a family of 2 fonts giving assorted spiral shapes. In each font they're grouped in fours - the same basic spiral in 4 different orientations (N S E W almost), and Spiraltwists has solid lines making up the spirals, Spiraltwists Antique has dotted lines making up the spirals, giving them an antique or rustic appearance. Spiraltwists has heavier spirals on Upper Case, lighter spirals on lower case; plus a group of spirals with a straightened outer end and connecting lines so you get two spiral scrolls joined together by a long line at the top or bottom. Bennet, Richard Lipton’s spirited serif superfamily, was inspired by Moth Design’s logotype and stationery system for the North Bennet Street School in Boston. Initially modest in concept, Bennet grew to an expansive suite of 96 fonts tuned for editorial use. The three widths of Bennet’s Display and Banner sizes—Regular, Condensed, and Extra Condensed—are ideal for precise fitting of newspaper and magazine headlines. Lipton developed graded text styles for the series, offering users precise variations to help compensate for varying degrees of ink spread on different types of paper stock during the printing process. For example, because of ink absorption, the lightest grade—Bennet Text One—printed on low-quality newsprint stock will have the same gray value as the darkest grade—Bennet Text Four—on superior coated paper. This 12-font family employs several unique features including a 2-part Chisel set which allows for the look of stone incised lettering. Hedonic has just a hint of a slab serif and even that is used so sparingly that it almost feels like a sans serif font. Its design does appear to be painfully simple but there are many interesting features including a selection of weights, small caps with old style numerals and display weights that make it very useful. And legible. Old style numerals are included with the small caps and italics. Also for display purposes are two "Chisel" fonts. Used together, set one on top of the other, they create a stylish 3D effect—ideal for logos and headlines or anything that needs a strong graphic punch. Hedonic may not be as eccentric as many fonts out there, but overall it is clean and legible with a few extra flourishes to stand out from the crowd!

Steiner Special is a revival and expansion of an art nouveau face called Swing, originally designed by Peter Steiner in 1974. Some of the original film type letters were slightly normalized and toned down for concept consistency, though this digital version lacks none of the original face's charm and sunny disposition. This particular kind of art nouveau face is one that appeals very much to kids. Steiner Special can be used in upper-lower or all-upper, and can maintain its enthusiasm and excitement through any bending, stretching, squeezing, warping or any thinkable filter your favourite design program has. Children book covers, candy and cereal packaging, fun headlines and posters for kid events are but few of the possible uses of this font. If you're designing anything for kids, give this font a try and you won't regret it. Steiner Special comes with over 500 glyphs and support for the majority of Latin languages. The Rostrum fonts are a revival and expansion of a type called Oleander, designed in 1938 by Julius Kirn for the Genzsch & Heyse foundry in Hamburg. Many of the original uppercase letters had some blackletter remnants tacked onto them, so in this digital version they were relegated to the Rostrum Two font, while more contemporary forms were designed for the Rostrum One font. Characters from both fonts are interchangeable via software programs' font menus and glyph palettes in the Postscript and True Type versions, while the OpenType version takes advantage of the Ligatures, Contextual Alternates and Stylistic Alternates features to perform character substitutions. Rostrum finds the middle ground between italic and brush script, which makes it quite usable in all-caps settings. Its majuscules have a very distinct curl that makes the typeface effect-ready and very appealing in packaging design. Plenty of alternates and ligatures are sprinkled throughout the character set.

The famous Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudí, used to say “there are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature…” However, with Between The Lines that’s exactly what you’ll find: straight lines, parallel and perpendicular, all in a glorious display of Art Deco style. Bennet, Richard Lipton’s spirited serif superfamily, was inspired by Moth Design’s logotype and stationery system for the North Bennet Street School in Boston.
