1913 Typewriter Carbon is the bold version of GLC foundry's 1913 Typewriter. It is available in two styles: Normal, and Underlined (Bold). It is a complete alphabetic font. It is used as variously as web-site titles, posters design or books editing. It may be preferable, if possible, when printing, to choose a pale color - dark grey instead of heavy black, for exemple - to give a good appearance, just like the real one, and still benefit from the full details. With inkjet printers, it may be used the economic or draft option with a good result too. The old typewriter characters size is 11 or 12 points, but this font supports easily enlargement.

Puggu is ideal for headlines or posters where slightly unusual or unrefined type is required, though paragraphs of text are quite readable. The font includes 57 ligatures of fairly common letter combinations (such as at, ee, ss, tt, Ar, RD,) with alternative letter-shapes used, to give some random variations and avoid having too many repeat letters looking identical. In a specimen book from Stevens, Shanks & Sons, Ltd. of London (circa1930s) “Royal Gothic” was their version of a classic grotesk sans that had been in use as far back as 1899 when the Keystone Foundry called it “Charter Oak”. The terms "gothic" and "grotesk" were equally applied to early sans serif typefaces – at first not well embraced by printers as being too ugly (grotesque) for use. One familiar characteristic of early grotesk fonts (such as this one) is the numerous variations of character widths and shapes. By combining those two terms into a font name, the digital version of this design is called Gothic Grotesk JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Wood Bonnet Antique No.7 is based on real vintage wood type blocks from Switzerland. The very distressed letters give a warm analogue vintage charm on printing. These kind of wood type letters were very common and often named by generic names like Roman, French or Antique followed by a catalog number. A “latin” alphabet modelled on the ethiopian Ge'ez script - an experiment that works. Amhara was created by transferring the typical forms of the Ethiopian Amharic script to the west European alphabet. Because Amharic is traditionally written with an expanded pen tip, it shows the typical ductus also characteristic of the uncial scripts of late antiquity and the early Middle Ages. Neon is an experimental, retro display typeface designed by Superfried. Neon features two styles which can be toggled via shift. As the name suggests styling for the typeface started with classic neon signage, but quickly took a new direction of its own leading to a very distinct and versatile display face. Neon has been featured in Computer Arts magazine.

Handmade Dropshadow JNL was modeled from lettering found on a vintage silk screened metal sign used for point-of-sale marketing. Before the advent of computers and modern techniques, silk screens were hand cut using material called frisket and knife tools, and the lettering reflected the human inconsistencies of cutting these lettering into the template surface for transfer.

Visual Arts JNL is a classic Art Deco typeface based on the hand lettering found on a 1930s-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) poster for Women Artists. The exhibit took place in the Federal Art Gallery in Boston, and was part of the arts project underwritten by the WPA to keep many creative people working during the Depression years.

Coverack was inspired by some hand lettering spotted by Dave Nalle on a pub menu blackboard during a recent trip to England. It's in the tradition of Celtic uncial lettering, but is extra bold and has some fantastical embellishments. The name comes from a lovely little town on the Cornish coast where the designer stayed during the trip.

Ask any typical New Yorker about subway directions and they'll tell you to take the "uptown line", "downtown line" or "cross-town line". Uptown Line JNL is yet another variation of the Art Deco monoline style of lettering prevalent during the 1930s and 1940s, and is based on titling from vintage sheet music for a Johann Strauss classical piece.

I often experiment with different shadow techniques. One day I accidentally scaled, instead of repositioning, some black text behind the white copy on top and noticed something very different and interesting happen. It was an intriguing effect. It took some clever handiwork to make it work properly across the entire alphabet. And behold, Eclipse was born.

DINosaur is the typographical mise en scène of a calligraphic standard for technical writing, found in a 1967 manual. Although its base is a regular grid and its main reference is the DIN norm, it is full of a multitude of small original features. The microtypographic details refer to the tools originally used for its reproduction.
