The typeface has the same peak typographic quality as any other font of the praised Andron series—the very best is just good enough for our kids, is it not? As a difference from the normal glyph set (as in Andron 1 Latin or Andron Mega), the letters a, g and y have those simpler single-story shapes that resemble the forms usually taught in writing, which are sometimes called infant letterforms. New Comer Sans is a combination of two ideas. First is my speed writing with flat acrylic marker on boards. And second is to make new bold font something like puffy «comic sans» font. Pargrid is a grid-based typographic experiment from the young Swiss designer Michael Parson. In the Pargrid family, which contains three separate weights, Parson has created an intriguing system of small circles-similar to LED's or light bulbs-that live separately on a grid, creating unique letterforms. In small sizes, these circles blend together to create seemingly fluid lines, giving Pargrid's letters a wide, rectangular appearance. In larger sizes, the letterforms transform themselves into objects d'art-virtual and ordered communities populated by various points. Fantastic in both display settings as well as short strings of text, Pargrid may offer the exact look that your next project is looking for. Aphrosine is a font based on pointed pen script. A huge lot of alternatives and smart OpenType features allow it to look almost indistinguishable from real live handwriting. Aphrosine is something between handwriting and calligraphy: it took too much effort for being “just handwriting” but lacks seriousness and regularity comparing to true calligraphic fonts. That’s why it was called after a peculiar character from a children’s book: a witch who was very fond of dressing, makeup and writing letters. Aphrosine has three faces. But unlike most other type families, the glyphs from one face do not match exactly the glyphs from another one. The faces are based on writing with different nibs but by the same hand. The type is designed by Alexandra Korolkova and Alexander Lubovenko and released by ParaType in 2015.

Polyspring is a handcrafted serif display font, with a cool flowery flair. It was hand-drawn based on Italia Condensed typeface from Keystone Foundry from circa 1906. Loaded with stylish ornaments and flourishing alternates for all its letters and numbers, this font is a terrific toolbox for display purposes. Yet, it has the superpower of changing the first and last letters in words to its germinated alternates at the click of a button, thanks to the smart OpenType programming. Please note that this feature will only work in OpenType savvy applications. Check it performing live on the sample text below: just click on the Advanced Typography option, located next to the sample colors options (look for an icon showing “ff”), and check the option “swash”. Years ago, by happenstance, designers Nancy Mazzei and Brian Kelly found an old decrepit typewriter in an abandoned lot with tall grass in Brooklyn. They kept it around their apartment for two years. Then one day they decided that it was time to move and they planned to throw the old typewriter away. But it was so beautiful they wanted to keep at least a part of it. So they decided on keeping the keys. They kept the keys in a brown bag until one fine day the keys were introduced to a camera. It was a match made in heaven that resulted in some beautiful quirky images of typewriter keys. These images were the inspiration for Backspacer. They were scanned, traced and turned into a working typeface by Zuzana Licko.

Bouteilles is French for bottles. No fancy name this time, just bottles. You’re probably wondering why I chose this name… Well, I was taking out the glass (in Holland we recycle just about everything, glass, paper, plastic, metal, garden and kitchen waste, etc.), which included a number of French wine bottles. As I was throwing them into the underground container one block from where I live, I realised that the word Bouteilles actually sounds great and it would be a nice name for a font! Yes, it is that simple! Bouteilles is a nice brush font I made with my trusted Chinese ink and a really worn brush I found. It comes with all the diacritics you need plus two sets of alternates, which you can play with!

With 662 glyphs, Anemos font is the perfect mix of elegant and casual. The Open Type features include a full international character compliment, standard and contextual alternates, swatches, stylistic sets, initial forms, standard and discretionary ligatures (capital letters have at least six different forms and the lower case letters ten). All this makes the text lively and bouncy, without the monotony of obviously repeated letterforms. In addition, we have included some ornaments designed to support the font, some were specially designed to be combined with the letters for a "more calligraphic" effect (access to them through the glyphs palette). Anemos can be the option used to create titles, logos and posters for brand and packaging purposes, invitations, greeting cards, magazines and book covers, children's material, fashion, and where you want it.

Martin, a condensed semi-serif with rounded edges and friendly serifs, shows its charme best in short, pointed sentences, in headlines set in about 20 to 36 p. The playing with serifs in a condensed, very characteristic type design is attractive and the technical skill is convincing. More styles are planned. The idea was to try to apply a given design criteria (also see Volker Schnebel's Marita and Manuel fonts) to every single character. In other words, start with a character and develop all of the others from it. This is quite easy for some characters but extremely difficult for others. This process generates creativity and the characters move away from the initial constructed sketch. Together in a typeface, the individual characters are now all of a piece and character.

The single-named, multi-talented designer Joluvian now lives in Madrid. But he grew up in the “Caribe” of Venezuela, where thick jungles meet endless beaches, and fecund trees bear juicy fruit – a tropical paradise where music and dance vibrate in the humid air. The Tropical pack, designed by Joluvian and digitized by Ale Paul, echoes the spirit of his birthplace. Its three faces are casually stylish – a bold, wet-looking display script, an inky, textured brush script, and hand-penned capitals with a felt-tip look. Like a fruit cocktail, each ingredient is tasty on its own, but they combine even more deliciously. Sprinkle the included catchwords, shapes, and bursts in your layout to complete the easygoing, Carribbean vibe. Each face includes alternates and support for multiple Latin languages.

While in the same vein and spirit as Burgues and Compendium, Bellissima began from an entirely different thread from those fonts. It started with Alex Trochut generously showing me a gorgeous lettering book from his grandfather’s library: Bellezas de la Caligrafía, by Ramón Stirling, 1844. Stirling was one of the Latin calligraphy pioneers who introduced a refined version of English calligraphy in Spain and made it popular in the nineteenth century. Some scans from that book served as initial basis for the caps in my Poem Script. But it was always in the back of my mind that I should do a copperplate, and the Stirling model was the perfect source. My intention was to veer away from Stirling’s exuberant ornamentation, and work within simplified forms of his ideas. As it usually is with most of my projects, Bellissima became its own bird and shaped its own flying patterns. Suddenly there were many ligatures, multiple endings and swashed connections, hundreds of alternates for both uppercase and lowercase. Bellissima has an effusive energy that appeals much beyond its sourcing. It’s intended for these modern times of appreciation for old crafty things like stationery and letterpress, where its origins help it shine brightly. Bellissima Script Pro is a complete font with almost 2000 characters full of alternates, swashes, ligatures & ornaments covering a wide palette of latin languages and Bellissima Script Redux is a random sample of glyphs totally usable with a reduced price.
