Picadilly family was made after my short visit in London and huge impression of Edward Johnston works. I've designed family of 20 modern typefaces with strong personality.

Storefront is what the prolific and talented American sign painters of the 1920s and 1930s would have created if they had access to the advanced lettering and type technologies we have today. Rooted in an incomplete Alf Becker alphabet sample, Storefront is my usual overdose on alternates and swashes, my eternal attempt at giving typesetting that ever-elusive handmade impression. Though the main shapes, especially the majuscules, are almost a standard recitation of the natural evolution of nineteenth century scripts, the additional variants available within the font provide a leap in time to what sign makers and packagers are doing today. I can honestly say that Storefront’s influences are probably less historic and more in line with my recent travels and frequent supermarket visits. It’s difficult to avoid current visual culture when you're constantly bombarded with it. Not that I try. I certainly welcome the overflow. I'm probably addicted to it by now. With a very cool aesthetic, plenty of alternates and swashes, extended Latin language support, Storefront is over a thousand glyphs for your branding, packaging, and sign making pleasure.

Plantin is a Renaissance Roman as seen through a late–industrial-revolution paradigm. Its forms aim to celebrate fine sixteenth century book typography with the requirements of mechanized typesetting and mass production in mind. How did this anomalous design come about? In 1912 Frank Hinman Pierpont of English Monotype visited the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, returning home with “knowledge, hundreds of photographs, and a stack of antique typeset specimens including a few examples of Robert Granjon’s.” Together with Fritz Stelzer of the Monotype Drawing Office, Pierpont took one of these overinked proofs taken from worn type to use as the basis of a new text face for machine composition. Body text set in Plantin produces a dark, rich texture that’s suited to editorial and book work, though it also performs its tasks on screen with ease. Its historical roots lend the message it sets a sense of gravity and authenticity. Foda Kufi is a Arabic modern Kufi typeface with a touch of historical and Islamic styles, consists of 6 weights: 4 main fonts and two Extra weights for decorations. Foda Kufi is particularly suitable for Headlines, display settings, in titles or decorations.

Canterbury is a late Medieval Gothic font with a rough edge. This blackletter face is available with four different types of Capital initial letters or combined into one Opentype Pro font with all variations plus historic ligatures, alternates and even a few ornaments.

Kaweah is a sharp, condensed, serif typeface with wide language support and strong historical roots. The original inspiration for this typeface comes from text in the museum collection of Kings Canyon National Park. It is designed to be used in titles and subheads.

Old English Old English is related to Black Letter styles from early printed books and have a distinguished, historic look. The Old English font is used in advertising, invitations, greeting cards, and wherever a formal hand-lettered or engraved look is desired.

Gloucester is a smart, chipper, and studious typeface that evokes British literature and historic books. It's highly legible and great for kids books. Use this font for a pub sign, a book about British history, or anything else that needs a sophisticated look.

Fleischer is a rough and playful display typeface good for headlines and posters. The face is based on historical letterforms combined with energetic 20th century pulp-style lettering. Fleischer comes with caps and small caps plus West, Central and East European language support.

At VetteLetters we like food but we also appreciate our drinks. Yes, of the non-alcoholic kind as well. Like milk. Contrary to what Arnold Schwartzenegger once said, Milk is not just for babies. It contains a whole lot of stuff that is genuinely good for you. Like proteins, carbohydrates, minerals (calcium a.o.) and many vitamins. One time visiting The Hague, Donald DBXL spotted a tile tableau on a brick wall, advertising a dairy factory called ‘De Sierkan’. Yellow sans serif letters on a bright blue background, dating back to the late 19th century, immediately grabbed DBXL’s attention. Especially because the tableau showed both regular and bold letters with some lovely peculiarities here and there. De Sierkan appeared to have been a milk factory solely operating in The Hague from 1879 until 1961. A number of these wall adverts are still to be seen in The Hague streets today. Photos were taken for later reference. Later is now, the lettering has been digitized, missing characters added, and VLNL Melk sees the light of day. VLNL Melk is an all-caps geometric display sans serif family of three weights, Regular, Bold and Black. The basic shape of the letters is a rectangle with rounded corners, leaving a sturdy no-nonsense look and feel. It has a distinct historic aura, but with both feet in this digital day and age. It can equally well be used for the logo of a hipster coffee place, as the cover of a historic novel. Actually, VLNL Melk kan be applied in a wide range of designs like logos, posters, flyers, book covers and magazine headlines.

Eskos is designed for headings. It is deliberately diagonal and gives a sharp, oblique texture in the text set. It has rough irrational knots and oblique strokes. Eskos supportsBasic Latin, Cyrillic and more than 100 languages all together. The font was designed by Viktor Pesotsky.

The former hot-metal font Sebaldus Gotisch, a 19th century Berthold in-house design, was carefully redesigned and updated for today’s use. This font contains a long s which you can access by typing alt b or by using the historical alternate OTF feature.

P22 Bastyan is a hybrid Italic Blackletter. This typeface resembles Carolingian miniscule scripts and has a timelessness that evokes formality but defies specific historical categorization. It is available in an optional Opentype Pro version with CE language support, multiple styles of figures, ornaments, and ligatures.

These beautifully designed initials were created by talented American designer Steven Albert. Aquitaine looks best when the more straightforward characters are used to set words and the decorative alternatives are used to provide exciting initialling complements. A unique style with subtle historical and religious overtones.

Grosvenor is part of the Staunton Script Family of fonts designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel centered around a family bible and the handwritten annotation through seven generations. The Grosvenor font is a loose script based on copperplate writing circa late 1800s.
