The origin of Quirky lay in the Duke Ellington number It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. For some time I had wanted to create a font from expanded stroked lines. I wanted to produce a light-hearted font, but with some classic touches. One day, whilst doodling in Adobe Illustrator, Quirky’s letterforms just appeared on screen as if from nowhere. First I drew the test word ‘hamburgefonts’ and then just kept going, unable to stop. Character after character appeared as if by magic. From the start, Quirky had a life of its own. The letterforms are rather more sophisticated than merely outlined stroked lines. Subtle adjustments to compensate for optical effects have been been incorporated. For example, horizontal stems have thicknesses slightly less than vertical stems and where stems join together, the thickening effect has been reduced by cutting into the joint. Being almost monoline, Quirky works well reversed out of a solid background and for TV credits. The Quirky fonts are fun fonts, so set, laugh and enjoy! I hope Quirky will give you as much pleasure in using it as I got in creating it! Shortly after the roman version was born, an italic version and then a thin version were created to form a family of three fonts.

Dinner is a family of novelty fonts in which the characters are formed from spoons, forks, and knives. Dinner-Regular was designed in 1990, one of the earliest fonts in the IngrimayneType collection. It contains a mixture of knives, forks, and spoons and the lower-case letters are smaller versions of the upper-case letters. In 2021 the family was expanded with Dinner-Knives in which all characters are formed by arranging knife shapes, Dinner-Spoons in which the characters are formed from spoon shapes, and Dinner-Forks in which the characters are formed from fork shapes. All three are caps-only but the characters on the lower-case keys are alternate versions of upper-case letters . Dinner is a decorative display family that needs to be used at a large size. The logical place to use it is for food-related items.

McKnight Kauffer is a casual sans derived from poster and book cover lettering by the American designer, Edward McKnight Kauffer, who mainly worked in England through the 1920s and 1930s. The style owes much to Louis Oppenheim's Fanfare of 1927, but without the Germanic blackletter inflection. The two display fonts, regular and outline, have a playful art deco feel, and share spacing and kerning so can be overlapped for bicolor effects.

Presidio is a stylized version of the hand-lettered calligraphy typical of the Mission era of early California. This lettering was often unique to an individual hand, but the characters shared a common style, and had their roots in the Middle Ages when monks and scholars copied whole books one letter at a time. "Presidio" replicates this style with subtle variations in each character, giving the font its authentic charm.

A style of die-cut cardboard letters and numbers used for signs, displays and show cards was the basis for Haute Couture JNL, an Art-Deco flavored typeface from Jeff Levine. A direct cousin to Signboard JNL, this font shares some similar characteristics in letterforms. Both styles of die-cut lettering were manufactured by a number of companies, and were most popular from the 1940s through the mid-1960s.

The six weight Organon Serif typeface is a stylish and feature-laden OpenType family which complements its sister Organon Sans, both components working in tandem to create an elegant, legible and thoughtfully designed suite of fonts which share similar cap & x heights, stem widths and ascender/descender values. ‘Skiart Serif Subtle’ is now available online. Originally inspired by the san serif font ‘Skia’ by Mathew Carter for Apple. ‘Skiart’ was designed to feel more like a serifed font, but without any serifs. It took a step between sans serif and serif fonts. Next on the path towards a serif font came Skiart Serif Mini, with tiny serifs added. This was a true serif font, all be it on the small side. Skiart Serif Subtle is less of a serif than Skiart Serif Mini, in that it doesn’t have actual 'serifs' as such. It has a subtle flare where a serif might normally be found. It remains fully readable and feels as clean and normal as any of the best body copy serifs, and yet still has the strong solid bones of all the other Skiart font families. If compared to one of the more commonly used serifs like ‘Times New Roman’, the ‘Skiart Serif Subtle’ lowercase is more open with a taller x-height, increasing its readability and friendliness. The serifs are smaller and less distracting. They are not pretending to be ligatures. Where ‘Times’ makes its p q b d forms out of a barely touching oval and stem, the ‘Serif Subtle’ forms are much more firmly attached, appearing clearly as single letters. The standard setting for the a’s and g’s are round single story, feeling warmer and more inviting in the ‘Serif Mini’ font. Much more friendly than the stuffy double-storied versions in fonts such as ‘Times’ etc.

FF Signa Rounded is a natural complement to the rest of the FF Signa super family – and can stand on its own in a variety of print and on-screen applications. The design is Ole Søndergaard’s rounded branch in his FF Signa family three. In it, he took the distinctive shapes and proportions of FF Signa Sans and created a warm, inviting design for text and display copy. Like its parent design, FF Signa Round is not a humanistic sans, nor is it based on 19th-century grotesques. Its characters are minimalist interpretations of letterforms – distinctive, yet easy to read. Thanks to FF Signa Round’s large x-height, open counters and simple character shapes, the design does not overpower the message – and draws the reader in. At substantial sizes, especially in the bolder weights, the design communicates with amiable conviction. At text sizes, FF Signa Round remains inviting and legible. It can be used as a companion to the rest of the FF Signa family, providing depth of style and breadth of reach. The collection of designs can also be used on their own for brand, brochure, publication, and way-finding design in digital and hard copy environments. Zarlino is an original typeface in the Blackletter style. It does not solidly adhere to any of the historical Blackletter classifications, but draws from all of them, with some characters owing more to the Roman than the Fraktur. Zarlino Delux includes three complete sets of upper case, ranging from the simple to the embellished to the even more embellished, two complete sets of lower case, and two more sets of embellished alternates for selected lower case characters. These alternates are available through Stylisitic Sets in OpenType aware applications. For use in non-OpenType aware applications, Zarlino Delux comes with a set of separate, standard fonts, one for each style. These standard fonts are also available for individual purchase. Zarlino was named by my cousin, a musician. Gioseffo Zarlino was a sixteenth century composer and musical theorist. Among other things, he offered detailed advice on the setting of words to music. With its blends of the old and the new, the simple and the ornate, Zarlino is suitable for many uses, from the elegant to the aggressive.

Plantin is a Renaissance Roman as seen through a late–industrial-revolution paradigm. Its forms aim to celebrate fine sixteenth century book typography with the requirements of mechanized typesetting and mass production in mind. How did this anomalous design come about? In 1912 Frank Hinman Pierpont of English Monotype visited the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, returning home with “knowledge, hundreds of photographs, and a stack of antique typeset specimens including a few examples of Robert Granjon’s.” Together with Fritz Stelzer of the Monotype Drawing Office, Pierpont took one of these overinked proofs taken from worn type to use as the basis of a new text face for machine composition. Body text set in Plantin produces a dark, rich texture that’s suited to editorial and book work, though it also performs its tasks on screen with ease. Its historical roots lend the message it sets a sense of gravity and authenticity. The family covers four text weights complete with italics, with four condensed headline styles and a caps-only titling cut. Oswald Cooper is best known for his emblematic Cooper Black™ typeface. Although he was responsible for several other fonts of roman design, Cooper never drew a sans serif typeface. But that didn’t stop George Ryan from creating one. Ryan saw a sans serif example of Cooper’s lettering in an old book and decided that it deserved to be made into a typeface. Ryan’s initial plan was to make a single-weight typeface that closely matched the slender and condensed proportions of the original lettering. While the resulting Oz Handicraft™ typeface proved to be very popular, Ryan was not satisfied with the limited offering. So, between other projects – and over many years – Ryan worked on expanding the design’s range. The completed family includes light, semi bold and bold weights to complement the original design, plus a matching suite of four “wide” designs, which are closer to normal proportions. Fonts of Oz Handicraft include a Pan-European character set that supports most Central European and many Eastern European languages.

‘Пивная’ (Pivnaya) means ‘bar’ or ‘brewhouse’ in Russian. Pivnaya Latin is a display font published by Roman Type. Initially designed for a poster, the family quickly turned multi-script. In 2019, the global design community is busy celebrating the centennial of Bauhaus, silently triggering the question as to if or how the phenomenon matters in the lives we lead today, or whether it could rather be reduced to mere historic purposes. At that point, I found myself falling into the Bauhaus trap myself, preparing a typeface design workshop for a group of Lithuanian and Russian students. But by a typing error, I accidently made Google translate ‘Brauhaus’ (brewhouse) instead of ‘Bauhaus’. That is why I called this family ‘Pivnaya’ in the end. Pivnaya Latin works for: Afrikaans, Albanian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portugese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanisch, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Zulu. Though being a decorative font, the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) increases usability for all kinds of purposes.

Linotype Sinah is part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. Designed by the German artist Peter Huschka, Linotype Sinah is a rounded, ornamental font with many strokes ending in teardrop forms. The letters of this wide-running font do not share a common base line. The capital S and the lower case l both drop under it although neither have descenders.
