This is my new, completely worked over and fine-tuned Bodoni Classic for Europe (no Greek and Cyrillic). I have added a set of elegant Swashes (B) and 2 alternating uppercase swirly Initials (C) as well as two lowercase end-letters (D). The fonts A and B have extensive kerning, which the initials (C) don't need, they are aligned to replace the standard capital letter. The lowercase end-letters (D) are aligned to replace the standard lowercase letters, so you might need to add a blank after the swirl. Gold is all new for 2021, the complete family has been rebuilt using the multiple masters technique. In this new version we've removed any alternatives that could not be shared across all weights in the family and we've trimmed a few others that just were not practical in keeping a consistent look to the whole font. All the alternates now have matching accented glyphs across all weights. Case sensitive forms have also been added to all weights. With 14 weights the difference between weights are closer together which may give you the effect of a variable font where variable fonts are not supported. For technical reasons the original Gold family has now been split into two families with Gold having ten weights and the four heavier weights under the Gold Magnum family. The Gold and Gold Magnum font families support accented characters for western, central and eastern European countries. Gold comes with OpenType features to access the alternate glyphs however you will need an application such as Adobe Creative Suite to take advantage of alternate glyphs.

Kush Fat and Kush Shade work well independently but together they become a two colour, two layer font. Simply type some text in Kush Shade, copy it and paste it back on top of your original text. Using layers, background color can be added (dot accent and ring characters) or the outline color can be changed (sterling and yen characters). The font may also be useful with the contextual alternatives turned off. Different amounts of character spacing may give interesting results. With default character spacing, ovals with will overlap. If you are typing numbers and want the start to be an oval, switch on OpenType style set 2. In at least one word processor (Pages 5 for Macintosh) the carriage return adds the shape assigned to the space character. If you encounter this, try adding a nonbreaking space (option-space on the Macintosh) before the carriage return.

Grava is Neil Summerour’s injection of warmth within the geometric sans font category. Historically, geometric sans families have been based on primal shapes — triangle, circle, square — and the more closely they held to those rigid rules, the more internal inconsistencies they showed. Angles won’t match up correctly, letters will lean, overshoots complicate clean typesetting, and idealized circles become grotesque and unwieldy in some weights. Because of issues like these, geometric sans fonts have a reputation of being cold, austere, even a bit “off”. Created by German designer Jürgen Weltin, Linotype’s Agilita is a contemporary humanist sans serif family with a wide variety of weights, including both ultra thin hairline options and heavier, dark type. Agilita has rather classical proportions; its clear ascenders and descenders lend more distinct word shapes. Weltin’s design has a dynamic, yet strong and very functional appearance with a fine but clear emphasis on the horizontals. These fonts should be set at a minimum size of 20 pt for printed project, and about 40 pt on output to laser printers, depending on the paper used. Agilita’s character sets include special symbols and signs that may be used in dictionaries; like arrows for lemmata and signs for cross references, idioms or colloquial language. There are two sets of arrows available in each weight for use in orientation systems. Each font in the Agilta family is built according to Linotype’s Extended European character set guidelines.
