Mayence is the French name of Mainz, German city where Johannes Gutenberg was born. It's a manuscript font inspired in the author's calligraphy, with an angular structure, marked by a certain impulsiveness. Besides being a continuous-line font, Mayence explores some deviations and imperfections in the calligraphy practice, as accumulations of paint and anomalies in the thickness variation, characteristics which gives it more naturality. Its main difference is the set of over 430 ligatures (Premium version), based on the research and selection of important character sequences, rather frequent in several languages. For this, a study was done about the diphthongs, triphthongs and di-tri-tetra-pentagraphs more common in languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hungarian, Croatian, among others. Ligatures with up to 2 characters are enabled by default and with more than 2 characters are enabled by the Discretionary Ligatures option. Mayence also contains several ligatures based on common words in English and Spanish, exclusive ligatures with numbers and another standard, discretionary, historic and Unicode ligatures. It has 9 different ampersands (&), which can be chosen by the user according to the application context. Now here's a font that won't spoil anything! It's my ALL CAPS brush font with slightly uneven and quirky lines. Just enough to make font look lively and fresh, but not overdoing it. Every letter has 7 different versions, which automatically cycles as you type - and I have added an extra SMALL CAPS for each letter. Broadgauge Ornate originated from MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1869 and was only available as an all caps font with numbers. Today this old beautiful wood type rises again from the archives complete with original numbers and an all new lowercase. An all caps Greek character set has also been added plus accented characters for western, central and Eastern European countries. Included in each font file are two sets of left and right pointing hands located on the Less Than and Greater Than keys and also on the Bracket keys. Because this font works well with a Las Vegas theme I've decided to make the pointing hands gambling related with one set of hands rolling dice and the other holding cards. The condensed versions were created because in today's computer graphics applications people stretch and condense fonts to fit their project but don't notice the change in vertical stroke widths or line thickness. After compressing the letter shapes of each Broadgauge Ornate condensed font the vertical lines were corrected making sure they were the proper width or thickness. The results are balanced condensed versions that weren't simply compressed with out consideration for their appearance.
