A 1929 German travel poster had the caption “Wer schlafwagen reist spart zdeit und geld” (“Whoever travels in a sleeping car saves time and money”) hand lettered in an Art Deco sans serif style. This is now available as Foreign Tourist JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Alonquin is a typographical tribute to Dorothy Parker and the New Yorker crowd who haunted the Alonquin hotel in its 1920s heyday, sharing scintillating one-liners over sparkling cocktails. Deco and decadent, it aims to recapture the spirit of the age (mostly gin from what I can make out!)

Nadsat is a unicase display typefaces with a condensed, art deco styling. Best suited for short texts or display settings, the lowercase and capital letters can be combined to offer more layout possibilities. The typeface also includes a series of ligatures and alternate characters for even more layout options.

The title card “Airplane Hydraulic Brakes” in the beginning of a WWII armed services training film had the words "hydraulic brakes" hand lettered in an Art Deco slab serif style. This served as the model for Training Film JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

PiS Penny Serenade is an elegant all caps high-contrast sans with some serif-y elements in the caps, inspired by the handwritten titles of the 1941 melodrama movie of the same name. Be sure to use the art deco style alternate glyph set for more 1920s vintageness!

Showpiece JNL was redrawn from the hand lettering for the name and address of a music publisher found on some 1930s-era sheet music. The lettering style has features influenced a bit by both the end of the Art Nouveau period and the beginning of the Art Deco movement.

The cover of the 1934 sheet music for "Your Guess Is Just as Good as Mine" offers up another hand lettered Art Deco sans with a classic period look. The square-ish lettering with rounded corners of Second Guess JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The unusual hybrid of square letter forms mixed with Art Deco-influenced ones in the digital typeface Common Area JNL is brought to you by the hand lettering found on a vintage piece of sheet music for "William Tell". The typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The movie poster for the 1934 comedy/crime drama “Jimmy the Gent” (starring James Cagney) featured the title hand lettered in an ultra-bold Art Deco sans serif style. This type design has been turned into Social Club JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The hand lettered title on the poster for the 1929 film comedy “Why Leave Home?” inspired Movie Set JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. A classic “thick-and-thin” design with early Art Deco influences, this condensed typeface is perfect for any period projects.

Armoire is a contrast sans-serif typeface that blends the elegant rationalism of Art Deco with the ornamental craftsmanship of Art Nouveau. Designed for both display and text usage, Armoire features a subtle range of weights with accompanying italics, and a special set of case-sensitive uppercase letters.

Society Dame JNL is a stripped-down version of Jeff Levine's Florida JNL without all of the extra embellishments. Retaining all of the same characteristics, this solid letter typeface is a perfect compliment to the original, or as a stand-alone design that fully embodies the Art Deco period.

A 1930s kids' premium booklet from Post cereals called "Inspector Post's Junior Detective Corps Manual #2" offered up some great hand lettering in an Art Deco sans serif style. Bold, authoritative and perfect for headlines or titling, Junior Detective JNL now recreates this hand lettering in digital form.

A 1927 travel poster for visiting what was then Palestine and Near East was hand lettered in an early Art Deco thick-and-thin type face. The lettering was redrawn digitally, and is now available as the aptly-named Travel Poster JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

A vintage Canadian-published music book circa the 1940s had the title "Strauss Waltzes" hand lettered in a bold Art Deco sans serif that featured block style letters with rounded corners. This was the working model for Formal Dance JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A vintage booklet from the Japan Tourist Bureau entitled "How to See Matsushima and Environs" had the title hand lettered in the Art Deco style which is the basis for Travel Brochure JNL. For those who prefer a more traditional 'E', it is located on the broken bar keystroke.

Sapore is a script font family, mostly monoline, inspired by the elegant handmade signs in the beautiful city of Venice, Italy, where I work and live. Many of these signs were made at the beginning of the 20th century by skillful craftsmen and artists, carrying that distinct vintage Italian flavour, and this is why I named the font Sapore, which means precisely flavour (also, one of the signs is from a pastry shop that makes the most delicious things). The design takes this retro vibe into the 21st century, making it up-to-date and fresh, while keeping it authentic. It is a script font, but I added some stand alone capitals that you can use in all caps words and texts effortlessly, as the open type code is taking care of using the right set of letters at the right time, I could have made two separate fonts, but I wanted to give you the best value I could and ease of use. Make sure contextual alternates are always on! There are also swashes, alternate styles, stylistic sets, small caps, 2 figure sets and decorative elements, all accessible through open type. I think the font is particularly suited for display use, as in logos, packaging design, branding, but it is readable enough for small text blocks. You can access the non-linking caps by clicking on the discretionary ligatures button. You can access the loopy caps by clicking on the titling alternates button. The main version has straight terminals but I included a round version and a calligraphic one, called “classico”. Hope you like it!

Aure Jane defines grace under fire. These clean, sans-serif forms engage the reader with a subtext of trust. ITC Luna is the work of Japanese designer Akira Kobayashi. He turned to the designs of the 1930s for his inspiration for both ITC Luna and ITC Silvermoon. Luna is designed to fill the gap between a pure Art Deco display face and an ordinary text face," says Kobayashi. "It has an Art Deco style but is still fairly easy to read. It can be used in short passages of text. As for individual characters, I especially liked the distinctive O, shaded only on one side. Lowercase a and g are also unusual, but they are somehow legible enough in text matter." And for a finishing touch on his Luna, Kobayashi added the charming moon face as an extra character.

Mymra fonts – an upgraded version of Mymra Forte and Mymra Mono (2009), with a careful re-dress of glyph shapes, and the extension of glyph amounts – which enables support of more Latin languages. The hand lettered title found on the cover of the 1932 sheet music for “Dancing Marathon” inspired the digital revival of this unusual lettering as well as the font’s name. This eccentric Art Deco design (with a slight bit of Art Nouveau mixed in) is a thin, monoline typeface. Dancing Marathon JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. Dance marathons got their start during the Great Depression as people desperate to earn a few dollars would enter into contests that went on for hours until the last couple remained standing on the dance floor.

Port Vintage is a new typeface expanded upon the original Port typeface, released in 2013, and being an experimental Didone typeface with a modern twist, inspired by the well known forms of typography masters such as Bodoni and Didot and the exuberance and elegance of calligraphy typefaces. A lot of changes were made, the whole typeface is now softer and has less rough edges, the time it took to mature made it possible to achieve an entirelly new and distinct flavour from the original Port, giving away the rough edges from Port and giving place to the soft transitions and curved connections between the stems and serifs of Port Vintage. Port Vintage melts the straight lines and strong contrasts of the Didone typefaces with the elegant lines of calligraphy in a geometric way, resulting in exuberant characters with geometric swashes that can be combined in countless ways. The result of this experiment is Port Vintage, an unique and rich display typeface meant to be used on big sizes and it’s main perk is the amount of alternative characters it features. Black Tie is an art-deco font with the smooth sophistication of retro design. It is very readable and can be used at all sizes. Our Bazaruto family was inspired by an old fashioned specimen from “Letters and Lettering” by Carlyle & Oring, but you'll find the inspiration has been greatly expounded upon. What began as an all Capitals specimen has been fleshed out to an extended full character set with many features and variants from the original design. Bazaruto has been an exercise in typographic evolution. The original Art Deco style spawned an Engraved version, then a Bodoni-esque text style, and then a monoline version of that text style (both of the latter complete with Obliques). But after that is when the real interpretations of form began with the development of the Iron fonts, playing off the original specimen having a visual flavor of wrought ironwork in them, and blending that into the Bodoni-esque typestyles. Lastly, a fast and loose hand drawn version of the Iron fonts and an ornaments font were created to add more variety and spunk to the family. The Bazaruto family is a visual grab bag of styles which all have an underlying harmony.

Minnesota Plaid is the baddest plaid ever! It may not be the choice pattern for golfers' slacks or bagpipers' kilts, but it has a City-like flavor with its own twist, a stylish ruggedness & toughness that could even be described as a sort of formal graffiti, thanks to the art deco swash of many of its strokes. It’s the kind of look that would be perfectly at home with hip hop or rap music, football and other sports, cars and trucks, power tools, and other manly, masculine usages. Whenever I've stayed in Munich my friend Michael Bundscherer and I go on a typographical expedition. When we talk about that, we remember the bygone world of sign painter. On one of the facades of a furniture shop in Munich, you can discover the lettering of the name in golden letters. This one convinced us because of the simple elegance Art Deco. These letters on the facade are in any case the character set, which forms the basis of this document. The missing (especially the lowercase letters and the numbers) were modeled. The "OPEN" called version tries to replicate the 3-D effect. The font is particularly suitable for shorter texts and headlines.

Pericles Pro is an attractive typeface for headlines and short passages of text which recall inscriptional lettering and playful, art deco design. There are two weights of Pericles Pro, Light and Regular, containing OpenType-enabled typographic features with alternative characters for creating eye-popping effects in headlines, book titles, banners, and greeting cards. Each Pericles Pro font includes 433 glyphs. This includes 12 stylistic alternates and 17 ligatures to mix and match with a full set of capitals, small capitals, superscript, subscript and petite small capital letters. Pericles Pro was developed to take advantage of the rich typographic OpenType features of applications Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the forthcoming QuarkXPress 7.

The vintage sheet music for "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" yielded another bit of Art Deco-era lettering perfect for developing into a digital font. This time it wasn't the song title, but rather the name of the show it was from serving as the type inspiration - the Cotton Club's 1931 revue "Rhythm-Mania". Harlem's Cotton Club was an "exclusive, whites only" club; both famous for its talent and shows, yet infamous for hiring black acts but not allowing black patronage. On the sheet music, the show title was hand lettered in a bold, slightly stylized fashion which became the basis for Rhythmic Revue JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

Brolly Fight is a fun, slim line font with off-kilter lines. I had so much fun creating this one! It has a stick figure art deco feel. It's fun and playful, with lots of ligatures and alternates to play with. Mix and match lowercase and uppercase letters for a unique look. There are four alternate ampersands, and fun double letter ligatures, as well as playful ligatures for r, k + a, e, o, u combinations. That high lowercase o with an underscore has a twin lowercase a alternate you can access too! Mix and match capitals and lowercase (plus the ligatures & alternates) to create unique text designs. Now with a bold version!

Juicy is different… in a good way. An art deco-inspired, high-contrast, upright semi-script, layered typeface best describes the playful letterforms that make up Juicy Pro (semi-connected) and Juicy Simple (unconnected). Great care has been taken to provide a wide complement of options and intelligent letter combinations thanks to OpenType. And that’s right, Juicy *is* a layered semi-script typeface. Pro and Simple variants provide a full character set (yep, lowercase). Pro variants include a wide variety of Stylistic, Swash, and Titling Alternates to really allow the expressiveness of the typeface shine… and all characters are available in the layered font counterparts… no shortcuts were taken on the delivery of this typographic chimera.

Bellflower is a collection of highly ornamented letters contoured with flourishes and tiny bellflowers. Transat is a geometric sans serif typeface, with caps inspired by Art Deco signage — found inside the “Gare Maritime” (literally “sea station”) ocean liner terminals in both Le Havre and Cherbourg, France, in the early 1930s. The name “Transat” is the common shortening of “Compagnie Générale Transatlantique,” the company that operated majestic ocean liners like the SS Normandie out of Le Havre from 1862–1974. (Transat also has a more rational text-friendly companion font, " Transat Text ") Transat includes many OpenType features, such as ligatures (ff/ft/fft), small capitals, case sensitive forms, stylistic alternates, arbitrary fractions, and a full complement of proportional, tabular, and oldstyle figures. Transat is released in 5 weights plus including optically-corrected obliques.

Celebrity is a new execution of a film type concept put forth by Willy Wirtz in 1971. The original idea, called Latus, had many irregularities and unfit characters that are now fixed and expanded in this digital version. Celebrity's construct combines extreme thicks with hairline thins to build forms that contribute to a type totality that is at once modern and techno, as well as retro-deco. Eye catching and memorable, Celebrity is ideal for use on posters, book covers, media sleeves and packaging. It also has enough geometric appeal to inspire unique logos and set attractive titling. Celebrity comes in all popular font formats, and includes a very expanded Latin character set.

CHICAGO MOONSHINE is an Art Deco serif All Caps display font. Please note that this is primarily for headlines, logos posters in large size. The character set contains Western and Eastern European latin languages, basic symbols and punctuation.
