K-Block was inspired by a hand-lettered sign by a young lady by the name of Kristina Lee. It captures a light-hearted, youthful feeling and is not intended to be taken too seriously. It was drawn for fun and is fun to use. Its very inconsistency insists on being casual and relaxed. Probably better for a birthday party announcement than a bank letterhead. Can you imagine a Just-For-Fun National Bank? K-Block Solid compliments K-Block and provides a stronger presence when required. For two-color work, K-Block can be layered on top of K-Block Solid to provide a different color outline for a very effective presentation. Full Western European character set plus alternate g and y, as well as a Th ligature. This font has 2 styles in one keyboard layout! There is a solid style, and an outline style. The capital letters match the small-case. In 1962, the late Robert Libauer of the Stenso Lettering Company (of Baltimore, MD) revised two of his popular stencil lettering guides to offers users two choices: “traditional” stencil letters and numbers and "solid" letters for tracing and coloring. Solid Stencil JNL was modeled from one of those lettering guides, and contains all of the character anomalies found within that vintage stencil.

Wyoming Macroni is the split-serif (or Tuscan) version of the Wyoming series. The Pegged version adds a horizontal spike through the middle of the stems, which has been a popular variation of this style. Included in the family are two shadowed versions. William Morris (1834-1896) was probably the most influential figure in the decorative arts and private press movements of the late 19th and early 20th century. In reaction to the increasing lack of quality that the industrial revolution brought on, Morris sought a return to the ideals of the medieval craftsman. Dissatisfied with the commercially available typefaces of the day, he undertook the design of the fonts for his books himself. The P22 Morris font set features new versions of Morris's famous type designs for his Kelmscott Press. The two main fonts include full international character sets for Western European languages. P22 created MORRIS GOLDEN with a rough edge to simulate the look of printing on handmade paper. There is a more "refined" recent version of Golden, but its sterile digitization does not approach the effect that Morris achieved in his Kelmscott books. You'll notice the handmade effect less in the smaller sizes but will find it quite decorative in the larger sizes. (Morris cut his Golden type in only one size for the Kelmscott Press, approximately equal to 14 points.) P22's version of MORRIS TROY is more smooth than Morris Golden and is true to the original Morris design. It is based on the Kelmscott Troy type (an 18 point font) and its smaller counterpart, the Chaucer type (a 12 point font). American Type Founders made an unauthorized version of Troy, "Satanick," 189?, contrary to Morris's wish that it not be made available commercially.(Legend has it that the naming of Satanick comes from William Morris telling the agent inquiring about making copies of his fonts available to go to hell) Several digital versions of Troy (and Satanick) have appeared over the years. The P22 version offers a much more accurate rendering than any previous version. Morris designed the original Troy font to be spaced very tightly; our version reflects and honors his intention. The MORRIS ORNAMENTS are based on those Morris designed and used in his Kelmscott Press books. Characters in the positions of the letters A to Z are decorative drop cap initials. Characters in the number key positions reproduce other Morris embellishments. (See the accompanying key chart.) As with all headline fonts and complex dingbats characters, this font is best used at larger point sizes (e.g., 48, 72, 120). Use in body text or at small point sizes on-screen may not achieve desired results. P22 is grateful to William S. Peterson, Steven O. Bertoni is a high contrast Didone family of twenty faces, which combines extreme legibility with distinctive character. It is able to hold its own in modern usage while having features rooted in a deep period charm. The family includes two widths as well as two weights. Bertoni regular, bold and wide are small capitals faces ideal for posters, book covers, packaging and signage. The text faces are body faces which form the ideal accompaniment. Etrusco Now is the revival of a lead typeface originally cast in lead by Italian foundry Nebiolo in the early 1920s. Heavily inspired by the design of the Medium weight of Schelter & Giesecke's Grotesk, Etrusco was, like Cairoli, an early precursor of the modernist grotesque superfamilies: a solid, multi-purpose "work-horse" typeface family that could solve a wide range of design problems with its range of widths and weights. When designing the new incarnation of Nebiolo's Etrusco, the Italiantype team directed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Mario de Libero decided to extend the original weight and width range to keep this "superfamily" approach. Etrusco Now has twenty-one styles widths in three widths of seven weights each, with matching italics; the original weights for the typeface have been collected in the Etrusco Classic subfamily. Etrusco Now new widths allowed the team to include in the design many nods and homages to other vintage classics of Nebiolo. The lighter weights of the normal width have been heavily influenced by the modernist look of Recta, while the heavy condensed and compressed widths refer to the black vertical texture of Aldo Novarese's Metropol. This infuses the typeface with a slightly vintage mood, making Etrusco at the same time warmly familiar and unexpected to eyes accustomed to the formal and cold look of late modernist grotesques like Helvetica. Contemporary but rich in slight historical quirks, Etrusco Now is perfect for any editorial and branding project that aims to be different in a subtle way. Etrusco Now's deviations from the norm are small enough to give it personality without affecting readability, while its wide range of open type features (alternates, stylistic sets, positional numbers) and language coverage make it a problem solver for any situation. Like its cousin Cairoli, Etrusco is born out of love for lost letterforms and stands like its lead ancestor from a century ago, at the crossroads between artsy craftsmanship and industrial needs.

Located in the Valencian Community, Spain, Manises is very famous for its pottery. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Manises was the most important production center for Spanish-Moresca ceramics, which was exported throughout Europe. At the beginning of the 16th century, Manises tiles were very commercially successful, especially of the heraldic type. Much appreciated by the Aragonese crown, Manises ceramics was also exported to France, Italy, and especially to Naples. As a big fan of Paterna and Manises ceramics, Naples influenced other Italian courts. Calixto III and Alejandro VI continuously commissioned Valencian pieces and tiles for the halls of the Vatican. The export also extended to Sicily, Venice, Turkey, Cyprus and even Flanders and the Baltic countries. The palaces of all the courts of Europe were enriched with this art. Many painters reproduced it in his paintings. It can be seen in the work of Hubert and Jan Van Eyck, and in the central panel of a triptych by Hugo Van der Goes (Uffizi Gallery, Florence). In this city there are also some frescoes by Domenico Ghirlandaio in which the Arabic-Valencian earthenware appears. Manises font is inspired by a text written on a 16th century tile, but adapting it to our times and giving it a very modern air. It is characterised by being able to combine uppercase and lowercase letters in a conventional manner, or use only capitals, or only lowercase letters, or, a random combination of both. It comes with an extra of many ligatures, stylistic alternates, and a set of very useful catchwords, to give more modernity to your text. This OpenType features may only be accessible via OpenType-aware applications, or the Character Map to view and copy any of the extra characters to paste into your favourite text editor/app. Manises looks lovely on wedding invitations, greeting cards, logos, posters, labels, t-shirt design, logos, children's material, in ink or water-colour based designs, fashion, magazines, food packaging and menus, book covers and whatever your imagination holds!

Hipster Script is another of my habitual attempts at trying to reduce the divide between manual and digital. In this case, I try to articulate brush lettering, try to get the computer to emulate continuous painting. The process wasn't that different from my work with Feel Script's shot at computerized commercial lettering, though here we have a more casual contrast, rather than the high seriousness of the Copperplate script. Swashes, alternates, ligatures — too many of them, all trying to make the interplay between the tool’s two extreme widths remain faithful to hand movement subtleties. I also toyed with ligatures containing apostrophes, something I've never seen before. With this typeface I think I've become more balanced in uniting the spontaneity of post-war ad lettering with the current trends in illustration and design. Hipster Script received a Judge’s choice Certificate of Excellence at the Type Directors of New York and was selected to be part of the Bienal Tipos Latinos 2012.

Wasabi is one of the key ingredients in the Japanese kitchen. Also known as japanese horseradish, it is an extremely spicy condiment made out of the graded root of the Wasabi plant. Its spiciness is different than that of a chili pepper though, more like a hot mustard. The spicy taste shoots right through your nose, but does not last for long. Wasabi is traditionally used in sushi and sashimi dishes, soba noodles, and in a number of Japanese snack foods. Equally sharp and stingy, VLNL Wasabi Turbo was designed by Donald Roos. I have made this font properly monospaced (all characters are the same width) as that is how an old typewriter worked. In addition to correcting and expanding the character set, of course.
