Geogrotesque is a semi modular with a subtle rounded finish typeface. All the characters are based in the same formal principle with its corresponding optical adjustments in order to adapt the system to an alphabet for texts. Although the type family has a geometric or “technological” construction, the rounded finish provides it a warm appearance, making the typefaces nicer and nearby. Geogrotesque has been conceived to be used as a display typeface in publications or intermediate length texts, most of all the Thin and Ultralight weights which were meant to be used in big sizes. This font family is inspired by printed work made by the Elzevir family back in the XVIIth century at Leiden (NL). They worked with material from several type designers, but further investigations sends us to the tracks of one in particular: Robert Granjon. Granjon italics were way ahead of his time, making some really beautiful signs like swashy ampersands and minuscule v letters. This font also contains old style figures in the same fashion as they were printed, like the flipped number 8 and open forms in 6 and 9. This is as much a revival as an original design, because of their weights bold and heavy (both with italics) that were inspired on some titles. In this font you can also find a lot of ligatures, small caps, diacritics and even a fleuron for each weight and variation. Leidener came up from two books: Constantini Imperiatoris (1611) and Exercitationum Mathematicarum (1657), printed by Louis and John Elzevir on their Leiden Workshop, back in the day.

We use an old hand juicer at home: a cheap plastic one that we bought a long time ago at a Swedish home appliances and furniture giant. We haven never considered upgrading to an electronic one, as it still works, it doesn’t use electricity and we don’t really use it that often. This font is called Juicer. It was not named after our manual juicer, or any juicer in particular. It was just a word that seemed to fit the font nicely. Juicer font is a handwritten, script-ish kinda font that comes in two great styles and contains a set of double letter ligatures.

HS Almohandis is an Arabic display typeface. It is useful for book titles and graphic projects where a contemporary, streamlined look is desired. The font is based on the simple lines of modern and simplified Kufi calligraphy, that support Arabic, Persian and Urdu. This font was created in the beginning as regular weight with the font HS Alhandasi in 2007 for use in technical and engineering company. The company tends to follow the geometrical shape with equal dimensions in both vertical and horizontal storks. There is also a tendency to make all characters to be similar to oval shape with the impression that they are all geometrical and clear. I followed that with Bold weight in 2011. The difference between this font and HS Almohandis is that its characters have a sharp baseline.

Feltboard JNL was drawn from images of letters and numbers contained in a felt board (also known as a flannel board) sign kit from the 1940s or 1950s. The irregularity of stroke widths and character shapes is representative of the actual shapes of the die-cut pieces found within this kit. Note: The cap height is slightly smaller than normal for the respective point size. This will give the effect of wider line spacing - similar to that of hand-made signs.
