Inspired by a set of vintage alphabet game tile pieces, Newark JNL has similar traits to other slab serif Romans, but enough 'quirky' letter widths to break the rules and have it stand out on its own merits. The name derives from font work files in progress, often saved as 'new work' until a fitting name is decided upon. It seemed only right that this phrase be turned around into a font name itself. Newark JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Can noise be a beautiful sound? Well, I guess...because the other day when I was playing the good old Bleach album by Nirvana (which I consider lovely grunge music!) my wife yelled "Could you stop that noise?!" - and I answered "What noise?!" - ha-ha-ha! Anyway, I finished this font while listening to that particular lovely noise, and I knew that this crunchy, grungy, handmade and full of contextual alternates and multilingual font had to be named something with the word "noise" in it!

Mexica is a typographic tribute to Nahuatl, the tongue of the Aztecs, but also the lingua franca of ancient Mexico. ‘Mexica’ is not only the feminized, latinized form of the word ‘Mexico’, but also the name of the inhabitants of this place: the Me-xic-cah. Nahuatl, when composed in the Latin alphabet, abounds in diagonal letter shapes: XYZ are ubiquitous in its classic orthography, just as KW are in its modern one. This visual feature is further enhanced by the absence of some rounded letters such as BDG that depict inexistent sounds in this millenarian tongue. Besides, Nahuatl is language with a tendency to form very long words that give the text quite a distinct appearance, unlike English, for instance, with its abundance of short words. Mexica was designed to look well in all these contexts, and to perform as well as a contemporary, daring, stylish serif type family, with several weights for text and display composition. Further, its terminals and general structure —devoid almost completely of straight lines—are inspired by the angled architecture and ornamentation of the ancient city of Mexico- Tenochtitlan. Mexica received an Award of Excellence at the Type Directors Club of New York annual competition.

Arabetics Aladdin is a monoshape font family with a fixed single shape per each Arabic Unicode character. With reference to the Type Heritage Project, this font (designer unknown) was cut by Henry Brehmer of New York for the Dickinson Type Foundary of Boston in c1879 and had the original trade name of Renaissant. John F. Cumming later cut a light-face derivative called “Artistic.” A history of the un-patented face can be found at the Type Heritage Project website. Ressonant has a full character set as well as ligatures, superiors, inferiors, numerators, denominators, old style figures, and auto-fractions. There are also alternate caps for N and M as in the original, and, unlike the original, comes in four weights. This font is a documented revival of a 19th-century typeface. Mazaeni is a daring and playful display typeface perfect for logotypes, posters, and editorial use. Includes wide language support, optional ligatures, OpenType alternates, and more. One thing to note about Mazaeni is the letter spacing. It was intentionally for clean reading if you wanted to use it for the body type, so I recommended setting the spacing a little tighter for display use (around -5 to -25 should do!). Eckhardt Bold JNL continues a series of sign painter-inspired type designs and is named in honor of the late Al Eckhardt, a talented sign man who was a good friend of Jeff Levine for about 18 years until his passing. The font is available in both regular and oblique versions and was inspired by an example found in the 1928 edition of E.C. Mattthews' "How to Paint Signs and Sho' Cards". Both squat and wide for maximum use in wall and window applications, the original name for the design is "Heavy Plug". Plug was the sign painter's term at the time for describing this type of letter form.
